Edit: How does FW do their lacquered red armour? Is there a painting guide on this?

It's covered in their 1st Master Class book - the brass scorpion is painted like that & they do a stage-by-stage.

They do it a bit differently now that they have their own paint range for airbrushes--especially their own range of "clear" airbrush colors.

Blue pre shading for the shadows and a few layers of Angron red over the top.
It is covered in the lastest modelling masterclass book.

More skull-acne... Is there ANYBODY out there who thinks that the skull acne is cool, or a good design idea? Why in the Emperor's/Khorne's name are they doubling down on that truly, truly awful idea?

I dont think its cool but im not bothered by it, Skulls have been a main part of the Khorne lore since the start, I dont see why people have such a big problem with it.

I always assumed the daemons were made up of the flesh from the dead bodies required for the summon, hence them having a few humanoid body parts left knocking about.
At least thats how it works in many of the books.

I like it for Khorne demons, it fits the skulls and blood idea quite well

not so much on other random demons

and certainly not the piles of skulls on a lot of the other stuff GW puts out

I wouldn't say cool, but I have no issues with it for Khorne daemons.

For Khornate stuff - yeah, I like it. Fits in with the fluff and the whole essence of a violent, bloodthirsty, warmongering lunatic and his followers. I reckon they'd look kinda daft without loads of skulls about them. For Inq and AdMech I like them but in much lesser numbers to ol' big red and his cohorts

Yes everyone in my gaming group doesn't mind and most actively like it, three of us have Fine Art degree's so should have some degree of taste, but that's just it, its to subjective to state it as a cool look, that's not overly quantifiable... I'd rather the skulls absorbing into the flesh that extreme 80's heavy metal iconography you get on a lot of demonic armour for instants.

Do daemons not have genitalia? Shame.

He has some solid rules. The Brutal Blades are nasty at -2 rend and 2 damage. The forced re-roll of successful spells within his area is a neat boost for a solo Khorne force.

As a matter of personal taste, I'd prefer my models not to have sculpted genitalia. Sounds prudish? Probably. But painting that sort of thing, isn't my idea of fun.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this was originally going to be the k'daai destroyer model. I seem to remember seeing wip pics that looked similar. I wouldn't be surprised if they picked up the unfinished sculpt and turned it into this.

That dark red paint scheme looks so much better than the crimson GW uses for their daemon skin.

If multiples of this Skaarac will show up at a painting competition, whoever sculpts and paints the anus on him is going to win. For an an extra bonus the model will also need a pair dangling balls to go with this outfit.
