ok its for close up pictures ok........ if you look at your camera you'll see a little flower symbol button press it and take a pic with it on and without it on and you'll hopefully see a difference when you put them on the computer

As well as judicious use of Macro stettings you want to make sure that you have a lot of ambient lighting. Using flash photograhy tends to wash out your model paint jobs.

Get a couple of powerful task lights and use them to illuminate the side you want to take a picture of. One of my friends took these for me and the lighting really helps make the picture.

One tip that I got from a course in photographing arts and crafts, that's applicable to pieces larger than single minis,(Squads, Tanks, Armies) is to pull -back- and then zoom in, as close as you can, IIRC this gets you a good depth of field.

More light is -very- good, and you might want to get yourself a screen of somesort to soften the lights out so you don't get hotspots..

<Rarity> I am not whining, I am complaining! Do you want to hear whining?

Thiiis is whiiiiining! Oooo, this mini is too expeennsive! I'm' going brrookee! Can't you make it cheaper? Oh, it's resin and not metal anymore! Why didn't you take it off the sprue first? That's gonna leave a pour spout, and the FLGS is so far away, WHY DO I HAVE TO SUPPORT IIIIIIIT?! </Rairty>
