Soo, i want to finish off my guard before the new codex comes out. I think the best motivation for me is to see a step by step PBlog of the painting of the guard.

I can't see this as being an interesting thread, sorry, my painting is sub par at best, but Im going to try and update weekly and do it in batches of 250.

So first on the block, Storm troopers + chimera and the Command squad.

Bit of a contradiction there mate.
How huge is this army going to be?
An army of that size painted to that standard would be awesome in the true sense of the word.
Good luck with it.

South Africa!!!

Dont knock yourself buddy!!!! Remember there are people like myself who go and make coffee instead of finishing a army they got 2 years ago!!!!!!!!

Well done though!!!

I'm guessing that the first poster means "batches of 250 pts". And I don't think there's anything wrong with the painjob, it's clean and crisp.

I have one suggestion for improvement though, and this is a mistake I did as well when I started out. When painting red with highlights, it looks alot better if you start with a darker shade than the one that you want to end up with, otherwise the red becomes a bit pinkish. If that's what your going for, ignore this suggestion of course.

If I knew, I'd tell you.

Thats a great paintjob dude. The worse thing you can do is tell yourself you're a bad painter before you even you start!

Sub par painting? Hardly.

The only thing I'd suggest is maybe do some more work on the sword, perhaps picking out some detail by making the handle and guard a different colour to the blade (gold, bronze etc)? Also some shading or a wash on the blade itself would be great to pick out the detial there.

The skin tones especially are very good, although the lighting in the photo is a bit strong so it's affecting how we can see the colours.

P.S I love the base, lovely work.

Yeah, my bad. I meant 250 points. Tried to get a bit more of the STroopers done last night but it just wasnt happening, and tonight is WAR night. So doubt im going to make my 250 this week, unless i blitz a batch of guardsmen or finish the tanks.

Yeah, i wanted to do something with the sword, was dithering between actual detailing or slapping on poxy+red ink gore.

Not really much of an update this week. I was half way through the stormies when i got to read the new codex. I got a bit disheartened but im feeling a bit better now. Jiggled about the army list a bit, dropped a few things, changed a few and am back on track to finish the stormies and the command squad. Hopefully have pictures of the commander on friday.
