So now I'm happy painting block colours I thought I'd move onto highlights, after looking at several white dwarfs I got the idea but it wasn't quite as easy as it looked! Hope their not terrible!

The photo's are a tad too dark to clearly see your highlights; try placing a sheet of white paper behind your model to act as a backdrop, aslo take your photographs in sunlight if possible but otherwise use a lamp at a distance from the model to diffuse the light.

Much better photographs
and other than a few oddly placed highlights, if the lightsource is above the model the highlights under the aquilla are, the highlighting is good too

Good work squire. I'd recommend a red wash to blend the colours together a bit. Same with the silver parts of the bolter; give them a black wash to pick out the details, then re-highlight/drybrush with chainmail.

The highlights look good but that scope just looks sad. Have you tried to straighten it?

The thing that bothers me the most is the droopy scope. I keep getting e-mails that promise to fix that problem, I could forward them to you

Yea that last one looked alot better then the first few. Always remember NOT to have your lighting directly behind the mini. It darkens the bloody things up to much.
Looking good so far man!

Yeah looking back at him I need to touch up on the skulls, highlights on the bolter and the droopy scope! Does anyone know how I could straighten the scope?

Edit: Never look at your own models in the gallery, especially while zooming in, sniff

Scope fix is fairly easy, though it will probably do some minor damage to you paint under it.

Take your exacto blade and slide it in under the scope. Blade pointing toward the mount. Then twist ever so slightly so that it raises itself against the wide end. Keep twisting until it stops drooping. Key here is even steady pressure.

Excellent first try @ highlighting. Definately looks better tha any of my first painted models. Keep practicing and it'll look awesome.

Highlighting looks ok, but I have to ask if you spray primed the model before painting. It looks as though there is bare metal showing through in places.
