Turning a light on, and near the minis will help a great deal.

I agree. A good bright lamp positioned well will do wonders. They look good enough for table top standards for sure

Granted that it is hard to tell from the pictures, but I think you need to work on your highlighting and your lining. As it looks, and correct me if I am wrong, but you have simply applied a base color and put a streak of a different color on some of the raised areas. You really ought to mix colors, blend them and slowly reach the bright highlight. That being said, you ought to work on painting straighter lines- I believe there is a tutorial on this forum as to how to work on ones paintbrush control, and it seems that your painting would benefit greatly from it.

Also, skin is best done as a succession of overbrushing/drybrushing, rather than a flat coat of a color. It helps to give the skin depth and shadow that is seen on actual skin, and seems to be missing from your warboss.

No offence but IMO even my little brother can paint better than you (by judging your painted minis) and he is 10 and started painting couple months ago. I don't want to sound harsh but your style needs to be improved (alot) before you start commissing.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

while i find the above comment a bit harsh i do agree, before you start "commissioning" at least start to blend and mix colours as well as developing your eye for details and improving the highlights
Also try washes

i to am starting up a small, low kay commissioning thingy. What im doing is research, for example, following single model and squad auctions on ebay, looking at other commissioners. Also, i know that as yet i cant really comment, but, from my research, the small details on a model sell it, if someone turns up to a game with a perfectly painte model, its, cool, its really nice to have, if they then turn up with that model and it has a hand painted banner, or a blended up power sword, then, its WOW.
Now, correct me if anything i said is heading for being a myth, but i think its all fact.

hope that i helped.

I'm not sure how you got commissions when you don't even know if you paint good. If you are just starting painting, and you look at those models as base coats-than you've got a great start.
