... and my Guard HB nests are ready for action (if not ready for painting competitions ) These boys will be attached to the two squads in my garrison infantry platoon. As you can see they are hard at work, one of the teams valiantly defending an industrial... um... thingy... (I do rather enjoy doing up heavy weapons teams). The assistant gunners are both magnetised at the knee to allow for casualty removal.

Love the idea of been able to use the hbolter without their original tripods ( probably ended up on AC or LC )
Would love to see their right hand though ( curiouse to how they hold it )

Ask and you shall recieve I cut down the HW squad autocannon/ HB firing handle arms to give a single pistol grip. I then filed down the Valkyrie pintle mount bit under the HB. One will be stuck to the other when I get it painted up. I haven't actually used the tripods at all, and probably won't in the end. I toyed with using the normal Guard HB, but I thought it looked a bit too bulky for use as a SAW. The normal Guard HB is about 1/3 bigger compared to the Valkyrie door mount HBs.

Tidy work , nice ideas to "extend the HW sprue". Pig iron heads? I like it a lot. I also enjoy doing HW bases , like mini , god I can't remember the word , begins with d?

My first thoughts weren't really to try and extend the HW sprues, although I guess the result is the same
The heads are Pig Iron Heavy Infantry, and the word you are looking for is Diorama

Although I don't play IG I am curious to know what body you used for HB gunner that is laying down...nice natural pose (from that angle anyway). I was wanting to do something similar for my Marine scouts.

I was wanting to do something similar for my Marine scouts. For the prone HB gunner I kinda lucked out on choosing the legs. They are unmodified Cadian legs of the stride-forward-to-the-right kind. The body is a slightly filed down standard Cadian torso which was pinned at a slight angle as you can see below. The other important part that makes the prone positon work is the fact that he's lying on something that looks like its supporting him, hence the random bits of scenery on the base. The pose didn't really work until I got those 3 things sorted. Having no experience of the scout models I would be interested to see if there is a similar set of bits.

Yeah, I will have to have a looky-see. I was considering trying to sculpt some but my skills in that area are a bit sucky at the moment. Nice work though, looks natural as I said.

My only criticism is that the heavy bolters look far, far too bulky to be considered like SAWs. They're vehicle pintle guns, and it shows imo.
You'd have been better off nabbing some of the FW Elysian weapon packs, and getting the heavy bolters from there if you wanted something akin to a SAW.

Heh, I've spent quite enough on random bits and bobs now to consider going to Forgeworld for anything
Its a fair point, however having just checked out the Forgeworld pics, I don't think the Elysian HBs are any smaller. HBs of any stripe are a bit boxy and bulky. My Guard hail from a pretty tech advanced planet, so I reckon they're all kitted out with suspensor rigs to deal with the bulkiness
Also I prefer the look of the box mag, rather than a belt feed from a separate ammo bin.

I might have a photo of an Elysian heavy bolter team from when I bought a set to see how they were. I'm fairly certain the bolter is smaller, but either way I do like your stuff
It's a quirk, I just dunno how
