There's a big list of chapters and their colour schemes somewhere on librariumonline that might help you. But if you want your own chapter I can't really help that much. But as you're painting terminators you could give them white helms to denote veteran status. I don't really have much else to say but your avatar great. Just thought you should know that.

Sorry my bad it was lexicanum and here's a link to cheer you up http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/List_of_Space_Marine_Chapters

by heavy bolter's you mean storm bolter's and by multi melter you mean heavy flamer.

otherwise good. I like the 4th scheme.

I think that the 4th paint shceme you listed is the best of the bunch. The other remind me too much of either Black Templars or Blood Angels.

Also, you don“t intend to undercoat them? In my experience, painting straight onto plastic tends to allow the paint to come off much easier...
Ah well, to each his own, looking forward to see what you make of these.

I dunno...

Problems I have with this...

1) SM Termies do not use the Tactical Arrow insignia
2) White hurts my eyes, wash and rehighlight please
3) Commas are not evil, Commies tend to be though
4) Flamers are like flamethrowers, multi-meltas fire a ray of superheated gas, it's different
5) Storm bolters are like SMG's to an extent, HB's are heavy machine Guns
6) Barrels need drilling out
7) it's spelt 'Cool', spelling it 'kool' makes you sound like a 5-year old

rant over

EDIT: no, wait

8) Your primer produces grainy results

... you cant highlight with inks they darken and create shadows, the opposite of highlighting.

yep. I use ink by appying a reasonably thicklayer of ink, and then using a tissue (or finger ) to wipe it off the raised bits.

I cannot believe you got so good so soon!

@Lanky: Get a pot of badad black wash, dip your standard brush into it, then stick just the tip of the brush into your paint water (preferably clean). Now wipe the brush gently across your palatte to get most of the mix off. Carefully paint over your white areas with what's left on the brush, grabbing a bit more of the mix from the palatte if you need to. This will add shading.

There are two ways to go with the highlighting:

1) Take skull white, thin it down with a little water and re-paint the white area, taking care not to go over where the ink has settled in the recesses. This will take about 5mins and be tabletop standard.

2) Take a 50/50 mix of skull white and codex gray, re-paint the face again taking care not to go over the recesses. Now use pure skull white to add highlights where the light would naturally catch the raised surfaces on the face, use the smallest brush you have for this bit otherwise the pure white will start to dominate the face!

Hope this helps.

When using decals, I have found that you need to cut them as close the symbol as possible, to avoid the shiny "aura" from the decal film. Also, you can go back and paint over the decal film, right to edge of the symbol to make them look better.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

Prime your minis in less humid weather, or somewhere a bit warmer, or spray them less - drying conditions and overspray/clogged nozzle usually cause the bumpy finish you've got. I live in a terribly humid area, and it's the first day of winter, so I know all about this at the moment. Neutral undercoats really need foundation layers too... But black is black. A bumpy surface really spoils a glossy black finish.

Avoid cheap spray coats. Investing in a high quality matt primer is more important than detail in your case.
