The models are APE Grunts from Incursion, bought from West Wind.
As you can see I've only added Bearskins and little GS details here and there.

My sculpting skills leave a lot to be desired, hence the insanely big purity seals. Also added a couple of accessories from the Cadian infantry sprue, and stuck them on some nice resin bases.

I'm really getting into the 'hobby' aspect of The Hobby now, I really enjoyed doing these.

This is my first posting of my actual stuff on Dakka. Thought it was about time I showed some of my work, rather than commenting on everyone else's

Good sculpting, I like the hats. I like em, they just seem a little small for Ogryns, maybe
after they're painted and I can see all the detail they'll pop out. Looking good so far though!

Just curious, what exactly do you sculpt this stuff with? I've seen and heard of people sculpting 40k stuff but I have no idea what they use to do it. I would actually like to try my hand at sculpting some conversions. So what is it you use to do all that with?

@ Deff Dread: Yeah man, they're my "counts as" Ogryns.
Just played them today and they performed!

@Granesh: They doo seem a tad small, but they are roughly the size of a terminator, so are still considerably bigger than a regular trooper, or even an MEQ.

@Chris: I use a product called "green stuff", it's a two-part exoxy putty that comes in a strip of two colours (blue and yellow).
Once the two colours have been mashed together, the putty starts to cure, and you have about 45 minutes to work with it until it hardens. it look slike this:

GW sell it, but IMO its overpriced when you can get it from www.barrule.com for less money. It's got a nice texture, and is easy to work with for a novice like me.
There are alternatives on the market (brown stuff, sculpey, milliput...) but Green Stuff cuts it for most people.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll keep you updated!

I was thinking of using those models to count as Sisters of Battle in my Grenadeir Army but I can see how they would work well as Ogryn stand ins.
Looking good so far!

I' not familiar with the minis you used as a base. Are they bionic or power armored? Good job on the GS work by the way.

It's primitive power-armour. At least that's how I envision it.

Excellent from your concept. they don't look ike ogryns but the fluff idea works for them and explains the greater stats and wounds. Me likey.

Could you take a pic next to a standard guardsman for comparison?

-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? At first I was confused and wasn't sure if I liked it (agree with Frazzled), but I saw the closeups and went "OH SNAP, that's clever"

I dig the conversion a lot! Can't wait to see how it looks painted.

Apes are from a game called Incursion, a "wierd war" WWII. Zombies and nazis and power armour. What more could you want?

Thanks for the feedback everyone, thanks Mastiff! Feedback from peers you respect means twice as much.

Here's the newest shots of the Ogryns with a bit of paint:

As you can see the test model's at the front, the other four are close behind.

I've started a P&M blog for my whole Imperial Army thing, so please follow along there, as I won't be updating this thread any more
