I am thinking about creating a Mad Dok Grotsnik because I'm not a big fan of the existing model. I have one i am working on as a conversion of the AOBR warboss. I have been told however that this is out of scale for what the Mad DOk should be. Anyone know of any lore that tells of his size, or maybe someone has the actual model and can compare it to a normal boy. I don't know if it even really matters but I wanted to be sure. Thanks for an info you guys can supply.

I don't know about any lore or fluff, but i see the painboy as a weedy little boy that nobody likes, sitting in the corner working on strange chemical fluids instead of working out and getting ripped like his fellow boyz. I think he should be the size of a normal boy, but with a really cool converted urty syringe.
post some pics of your model soon!

He is around the size between normal boy and a nob.

So either is fine.

My Codex is at my brothers so I can't check for sure (at least not until tomorrow) but I remember Mad Dok being a crazy aggressive Nob that isn't a Warboss because he is just too crazy. At least I have the impression of him being as large as a warboss. Again I'll verify tomorrow unless someone else posts.

I'd go for it because if I remember correctly, the ONLY Ork he'll listen too is Thraka. That's pretty BA and Warboss size worthy to me.

Again, this is just my impressions on memory from reading his fluff.

The land of cotton.

Stat wise, the Mad Dok has T5 and S4 and 3 Wounds. Sounds pretty close to Warboss sized to me! At least large-ish Nob sized.

The only thing you might want to consider is the original Mad Dok model is on a standard 25mm base so yours probably should be too if you want him to be tourny legal.

I had the original model, hes pretty small as opposed to the new HQ models, even if you order him he comes with a small base. hes not bigger then a nob out of the boys box set. To be fair he should be on a big boy base and at least as big as a Big mek. All of the special characters are pretty big around the size of a warboss. So if you use a warboss as a base then you should have no problems. No one complaied when I uased the original model especially when marine SC's are on small bases (so its easier to get them into CC? Hmmm...makes one wonder).

"For the emperor!" "E' aint listenin!" *squish* (my fav blood and thunder quote)

BUT NOBS are NO GOOD at CC "ork town grot"
-perhaps the single dumbest comment I have ever heard-

Boss Zagstruck and Her-ORKick intervention, anything you can do we can do better

Cool! I can't wait to see his hinged (or is it unhinged) head!

it is hinged and closed. I cut up one of the metal jaws that came from the boyz box, and put the pieces on the lower jaw. in process of painting the head so it isn't as detailed as it will be soon. I'm thinking about doing a WIP blog now that I have gotten some good feedback.

The official model is the same size as a normal nob. Orks don't "get ripped" from working out. They get ripped from taking damage and healing it.

Okay, reading the fluff, he did rebuild Thraka and enjoys his patronage. No specific references to his size but like The Green Git says (and probably what left me with this impression) is he has stats pretty on par with a Warboss so...

I can't wait to see more!

I cant wait to see more also. And on that note, hoe smack the person that said the warboss body is too large. Its your army, do what you want, as long as it isnt cheating.
And Doks are nobz, so making a dok boy sized is as annoying to me as people that make flash gitz boy sized. Anywho WATCHIING AND WAITING!

I may have to wait on updates. The rumor from the Pain Boyz is that Grotsnik might have suffered severe limb damage in this past weekend's battle against some beakies with Grey Nights helping them. Some indications are that He may have to have a leg and arm replaced. I will update you when the doks let me know sumfin.

So I can keep this updated I'm going to have it moved to the WIP Blogs so I don't feel so bad about it.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The doks have confirmed the earlier information. Grotsnik has lost an arm due to the damage inflicted over the past weekend. They assure me he is as mean as ever and looks forward to choking each and every one of them with his new cybork arm when they finish with it.

Ok so after I realised the interest in this conversion, and that I wanted at least one cybork arm on him, I decided to dismantle and strip the model and start over. I will hopefully get it right this time and not have to start over again.

This is a materials pic I took. the only thing missing is the cybork arm parts, as I haven't decided what I will build it out of yet.

This is the base body. I have ground off the shirt the original warboss model was wearing and have added a WWII model kit barrel. This pole on the back is a cut down bosspole from the AoBR warboss topped with a orc skull, and iron jaw from the boyz box.

The klaw is from the AoBR warboss.
I have used a bolt pistol and ground it down and added a plastic rod to make the syringe.
The saw blade I custom made with GS but may make a new one.

Last but not least The slugga/syringe kombi
I carved out the bottom barrel of the shoota on the warboss and replaced it with a tank I cut down from the twin tanks in the trukk kit.
