Are they supposed to be the large or the small base sizes?

I got a large base with my jetbike model...just wanna make sure before the glue hits it.

Some come with small flyer bases, some come with large flyer bases. Pick one and go with it.

Personally, I use dreadnought (60mm) bases for my vypers and grav tanks and I use terminator (40mm) for my jetbikes. They look better after painting them up.

My feeling is this. If people are crying and complaining about the size of your bases, they are already beaten and you just have to play your game.

I think most if not all would come with the larger base size nowadays. If it comes with a large base, i say use it.

At times the jetbikes have come with the small base size, the large base size, no base at all .... and a friend of mine got a couple with a strange colored base a few years back. The newer bikes seem to be coming eith the large bases now, but that may of course change at any time.

Looking at the jetbikes in the codex illustrations is no help, since they mainly use the smaller base size there but have the shining spears on the larger base size.

In the new planet strike book they show the saim hain bikes as mostly having larger bases, but then they sprinkle a few bikes with small bases inot the same units!

So it appears that GW doesnt have an official size base for the bikes.

As far as which base size is better for the bikes in game, that depends. Its much easier to maintain coherency with the larger bases and the larger bases are better for spreading out and minimizing blast marker hits on the bikes. Smaller bases make it easier to stay out of difficult terrain and make it easier to get all of the bike council into cc range. Altho for mulit charges the large base makes it easier to remain in coherency while charging multiple units.

So overall neither base size is especially better in game terms, its probably best to use all the same size if you can tho to keep things simple.

If you have both base sizes, that would be a good reason to not solidly glue the bases on. I used a bit of rubber cement to make my bases solid, and its easy enough to pull them apart and change the size if need be. Models are required to be glued onto their bases by the rules but it doesnt say how solid the glue has to be

Why does my eldar army run three fire prisms? Because the rules wont let me use four in (regular 40k).

You are meant to use whichever base came with the model and as previously stated nowadays that is generally the larger flying bases.

Some people "claim" that their jetbikes came with the smaller bases for gaming purposes but there are positive and negative sides to both.

The smaller bases are easier to clump up and hide, this does however makes them more vulnerable to blast weapons. The larger bases will gnerally allow you to have more models supporting in CC but I don't see that as ever being a problem.

All of my jetbikes are on larger bases as that's waht they came with and that is how I believe GW intend them to be based although that has not been clarified!

I used to run mine with dreadnought bases. Mostly because I had the dreadnought bases, and mostly cause I didn't like my jetbikes tipping over. It did make hiding the jetbikes a little harder, but I can't see where you get any advantage from it, maybe in combat. Eitherway. If the newest ones are large bases, then thats probably what should be used.

Busy somewhere, airin' out the skin jobs.

Basically, either base can legally be used...since at one time all jetbikes were actually sold WITH the smaller bases.

Even if they're being packaged now with the larger bases, small bases are still legal.

I think everyone should compromise on medium bases. Why does it always have to get taken to extremes? Remember the porridge that was too hot, the one that was too cold, and the one that was just right? Pour some porridge into the size of medium bases, paint one of your bikes to look like Goldilocks and you're all set.

Your best bet is to mount them on the smaller bases.

As stated before either or is exceptable. You can even mix bases in the unit as it's pictured in the rule book as such. There may be some tactic there for putting the farseer on either a small of large base.
