Hello all, I have decided to go and actully paint my first army, Blood Angels, and was looking for some feedback, here is the prototype termie. The scheme is a little darker then the traditional blood red, I feel this fits a doomed second founding chapter. Tell me what you think ladies and gents, and remember, i can't paint to save my life.

you have the pads on the wrong shoulders, not a bad job

Definatly a good start but it's sorta pinkish.Is it like that or is it the camera?

As somebody told me recently, if you can inside the lines, you're off to a good start.

The dark red would be more suited to Flesh Tearers (who are a Blood Angels Second Founding), but no reason not to use it for BA if you want.

Neatly done, which is a great start. Try thinning down the purplish color you used on the thunder hammer and shoulder pads and doing 1 or two more coats. That should really make the mini look a bit neater.

Thank you all for the input, but I should state, because I forgot to originally, that this will be a second or third founding chapter using the BA codex, not thee Blood Angels themselves. I am trying to make them reminicent of Khorne Bezerkers, playing off the whole "One Step From Damnation" discription of the chapters with Blood Angels flawed gene seed.

These are my first 4 finished models, also, I am using the converted land speeders to count as Typhoons, can anyone see anything that would cause an oppenent not to let it? Again thanks for any feedback.

Provided you told me it was a Typhoon before the game started, I would be cool with it. And even if you forgot, I wouldn't kill you or anything. I might say "tisk".

I like the color scheme - my first Blood Angels army was an epic one back in the day when Blood Angels were Blood Angels' Orange, and Blood Red was today's Scab Red.

I can't tell from the pictures - have you shaded these models? A wash of brown or flesh wash works wonders on red.

Well to try and keep having a blog as it were here is the first finished squad. 10 man assualt squad, 2 plasma pistols, and a sgt with a plasma pistol and power fist. For those who may not know, assault squads are a troop choice for a blood angels list. Next my first Land Speeder Typhoon.

Have you ever thought of putting assault Marines on flying bases?

Invest in some washes as they can really add detail to your models stright from the pot.

I thought about flying bases, but with my track record of breaking them I have erred on the side of caution lol.

Looking good and Typhoon conversions perfectly acceptable in game terms.

My first BA were epic too as Blood Angel Orange. My 40K BA were painted with a mixture of Blood Angel Orange and Go Fasta red. Keep up the good work for the Sons of Sanguinus.

Well, had some time after working on the weekends and with my fiance doing her girl time I did a bunch of guy stuff, and also got my geek on and finished my first land speeder . So here is one Typhoon, converted from a normal land speeder and some bits I found and scrounged, Next on the list my Death Company and Lamarties. So Here are Pics of the speeder, and the last, the army so far.

Everythings looking good as its bean said a few washes to help shade and you will have a good looking army

by my calculations that would make the red look like dried blood...a cool look indeed
