You know, I have gone 18 years of painting without needing Tentacle Pink, but I'm playing around with some Tyranid models at the moment and I thought, what would look good for the joints? Ah yes, Tentacle Pink! So off to GW I go and lo, Tentacle Pink has been discontinued.
Now, I realise I can just mix white and red, but why was this dropped and how do you paint Emperor's Children Space Marines these days?

Perhaps try the Vallejo equivalent.

Wow! How weird... I was *just* having this same situation last night at my FLGS. I needed some new Tentacle Pink and there's none to be had.
I went to the Vallejo equivalent. the color is the same but, as with many of the Vallejo GW colors, it is SUPER thin. Like stupidly so. It's almost as thin as a wash.
I guess I'll let it sit on my palette for 45 minutes or so before actually using it.

I hate it when they discontinue paint.
Grrr!
Warlock purple is the colour I lightly dry brush on top of Tentacle pink. It's a lot darker but still suitable alien looking.
Maybe try that, if it hasn't been discontinued.

Mwah ha ha ha!!! A bad lgs closed down last week and still had paints from four or so years ago as no-one liked going in there. They had a sale and on the last day I managed to haggle down a selection of old discontinued paints to 50p each. So I have some tenticle pink for my gf and a crap load of Chestnut Ink for my wood.
Might be worth trying something similar. Places are always going out of business what with capitalism and all that jazz.

Yup, I went to Valllejo for my Slaanesh Marines too!
Not sure what the code is, 70958 or 040 but you should be able to order it.
I think it's a pretty good match.

My local GW store has a big box around back full of dicontinued paints which you can buy if you ask for them; careful they haven't gone solid though :p
Last time I saw it they only had a couple of pinks left but loads of Badmoon Yellow.

If you want to have a Tentacle Pink look on Tyranid joints and recesses, here's how it can be acheived (...Although it depends how you're painting them):
Undercoat: Skull White.
Light wash: Baal Red.
And so on...
This should give the pink colour that you're after. Automatically Appended Next Post: @Grim.Badger
Bad Moon Yellow's just like making "Tentacle Pink" by mixing equal parts Blood Red and Skull White - All you have to do is mix equal parts Sunburst Yellow and Skull White. To be honest, unless you're painting something with a strong Sunburst Yellow Colour, you're not going too need much of it at all.
I'm guessing that they discontinued these colours for similar reasons. Firstly, people didn't need loads of them. Secondly, they were probably awkward to produce in the Mixing process. (Paint is mixed from the lightest colour all the way to the darkest colour in industry.)
What I want to know the most is this: What was with getting rid of Fiery Orange? It was way more "Orange" than Blazing Orange! ROAR!

All good advice, thank you.
I was wondering whether it was dropped because GW are planning yet another new range of paints. We've had Foundation Paints and we've had Washes. Prepare for the Highlighting Paints! Specially mixed with just the right consistency for Drybrushing!

I'm thinking exactely the same, too. I made a mad article on Painting Orange a while back and it's not the most straight forward of processes. Not at all. Think about this, for instance: - Iyanden Darksun can be highlighted nicely by mixing it up to Pure Golden Yellow. - Macharius Solar Orange cannot be highlighted with Blazing Orange at all, not even with the old Fiery Orange. It has to be painted over completely with another orange colour, or have a lighter colour added to it (such as Elf Flesh or Skull White) to gradually build it up to a lighter tone. In fact, when painting orange, I don't see the point of Macharius Solar Orange, unless you're using a black undercoat, that is. Just go with a nice and light orange colour over a white undercoat with an airbrush. - Another Example was in this month's issue of White Dwarf (356). When painting Ork skin in the Painting Faces article, Darren Latham added Bleached Bone and Skull White to Knarloc Green to get the more "natural look". - If you look at many of the more recent colours painted by GW, it is noticable that they are shifting towards the more natural look on minatures. - One last example is about light skin. Now, GW is painting the skin Tallarn Flesh fondation, washing it with Ogryn Flesh, and then mixing equal parts Bleached Bone with Dwarf Flesh for highlights, finishing with pure Bleached Bone (...As in the first Painting Faces article). This is most certainely a little more complicated than their old methods, even for a "basic technique". Gone are the days when faces - especially the old Cadian Storm Troopers - were a ruddy red. - As for "Highlighting Paints"... I just think that they'll mess around with their entire Colour (or even Metallics) range. Something's got to happen.
