I'm planning on converting up approximately 40 nob bikers for an army, and I was considering scratch building the bikes to resemble the wheels from Confrontation's Goblin Mad Wheels.

I was looking for suggestions in terms of what to base the wheels off of. Essentially I'm looking for a plastic ring that would be approximately the correct size. I'm guessing the correct size would be roughly 1/2 to 3/4 the size of a CD. Given the number of bikes I'm going to make, it would be nice to have the basic supports for the wheels to be identical.

I've attached some pics that should at least give the general idea of what they hopefully will end up looking like.

Any other suggestions for the army or for the warboss conversions would be appreciated.

Are they going to be sitting in the middle of the wheels?

Pretty much. I'm going to build a small seat that sits on the inside rim of the wheel, and have the orks sitting in these.

It's possible to cut circles of plasticard using circle cutters, but I wouldn't recommend it, takes forever - unless you can find a circle cutter designed for plasticard?

For that many bikes, I'd consider building a round frame then simply adding lots of random armoured wheel segments to the inside, gluing them together on their inner side.

Have you considered using deffkoptas for the inside? Most of the required shape is already there. But I guess the same would be true of warbikes, and they'd give you lots of wonderful leftover wheels.

I guess you could ask uberdark over at da waaaaaagh about his monowheels and how he made them.

Edit: Here's a link to the page in his wip thread concerning the monowheels. Click

i recently got the chance to see those things in person, and they are even cooler than they look in pictures. oddly enough, not even the best looking part of his army, in my opinion...

Ah - what's nice about uberdark's ones is that the giant wheel is simply cut in sections from plasticard, without needing a complete ring in one piece - a definite modelling advantage.

Take a bike and a boy to the nearest home improvement store go to the plumbing dept find some abs pipe large enough to fit the bike and the driver.
This part you need tools cut 1/2" wide bits to make the wheel and orkit up.
Use a chop saw to cut it straight.

But be warned, ABS don't stick nicely to polystyrene. Going all-polystyrene will be easier.
