Adding some vets to my guard.

Gonna add 2 units with 3 meltaguns and the rest equipped with shotguns. So that means 6 shotguns in each squad for a total of 12. As luck would have it, the marine scouts have 4 shotguns per box, so I ordered the bits for exactly 12

The arms weren't a perfect match and I wanted the cadian arms instead of the marine looking shoulder pads and stuff, so I snipped off the guns from the scout arms and then did some carving on the guard lasgun arm. The left hand holding the gun is also molded on, but it's not quite in the right spot. I had to snip some of the left sleeves to get them all to match up right. I'll add a bit of greenstuff later to make the seam for the lasgun stock and the shotgun to flow together better but here's a pic of how they go together

And here's all 12 shotguns done. I think even though the left hand isn't a perfect match it will still flow good once they're all done and painted

Pretty good necros. I never thought about giving a stock on mine. I just shaved down the biker arm and used both from the cadian sprue. making a vet with a demo charge is another story though.

Yeah I didn't like all the same pose but I couldn't help it much because of the hands not matching up too good. But different heads will help and also they'll all have packs and gear to help set them apart.

For the demo charges, I have 2 I ordered a cadian upgrade pack from forge world a while ago. One is in a hand the other is like a backpack. I just wanna get the shotguns out of the way first.

I also ordered the scout heavy bolter for a sgt harker conversion for squad #3. it'll have harker plus another regular heavy bolter

for my heads I just used the helmeted ones from the IG vehicle upgrade sprue. They have a similar shape to the regular, but are slimmer and with a microphone thingie as well.

hmm I like the idea of the helmet heads from the upgrade sprue but I think at best I might have maybe 4 of them. I've been wondering if maybe I should order the FW face mask ones, but I don't think I wanna wait 3 weeks+ to get them. I also thought about using the vox caster heads, and adding some greenstuff over the eyes to make it look like glass like it's an enclosed helmet. I think I'm gonna do some greenstuff elbow and knee armor bitz to count as carapace armor too, but i think I'm probably not going to play them as carapace just because the points will get to be super high

I used the Scout shotguns for my Vets and the arms seemed to fit fine. (Until I ran out left arms)

Yeah I didn't want to use the full scout arms because the shoulder pads looked more mariney than cadiany, so I thought I could just get away with the gun arms and convert the cadian arms. I probably should have just ordered the full arm sets, oh well too late now

Well I finished my vets finally 2 units with all shotguns, 3 meltas, sgt with plasma pistol & powersword, and a vox caster.

Plus a company command squad with 3 meltas and a vox They'll all fight together like a "Vet Platoon"

Here's pics

They look great painted up, nice work! Having the stocks helps balance out the shear bulk of those shotguns (which look very intimidating btw).

I like your paint scheme too. Nice clean work and good contrast beteen fatigues and armour. I am having second thoughts about using a Khaki/Green scheme now.

The conversion isn't too hard, but the left arm doesn't quite match up with the hand under the gun so it will take a little bit of greenstuffing and trimming. But otherwise it's not too bad
