Weird, I heard that too. Also, has anyone seen any Dark Eldar model greens? Make sure to make a new thread if you have.

No, new person, we don't know.

There is a warning at the top of this section of the boards about Dark Eldar, we do not speak of them lightly...

I can't see Eldar getting a re-release for a while now. Consider that all GW releases are driven by models first, fluff second, and rules a distant last. So look at what they'd release.

Re-do Harlies? Nope. Too new.
Re-do Farseer? Nope. Just did that.
Plastic Autarch kit? Possible.
Non-hybrid completely plastic Fire Prism? Definately.
New Jetbike? Maybe.
New Shining Spear? Likely if the new Jetbike arrives.
New Vypr?
Re-cut Guardians? Probably.
New metal Avatar?

Is that enough for a full re-release? There's nothing significantly new there other than the Jetbikes, and basing a Codex release around a single plastic kit isn't likely. Dark Eldar on the other hand - they need everything to be replaced, so it makes far more sense to do them sooner rather than later.

Of course, GW does have this odd ability to sometimes hate the prospect of making money, almost as if it were a poison to them.

The last Eldar book was 2006, so the next Eldar book should be 2011, following the current 5-year cycle for major armies.

The last Dark Eldar book was 2003, when GW was still treating like a major army (5 years after their 1998 debut), but as they've since downgraded to minor status, I'd expect an update no sooner than 2013-2014 (following the SW update timing). Presuming they're not Squatted out of existene...

Unfortunately I can see somthing like the section of webway they live in colapses into the warp and they are all killed by Slannesh >_>

I'm hoping they get an update, rather than killed off like the Squats because they don't fit in with the atmosphere of 40k.

They'd need to come up with a better reason to get rid of them than the Squats. For those who don't know there was something about the Squat's giant machines not fiting in with 40k, but they apparently fit in with epic enough. Because apparently they were all about super heavies.

No official info from GW whatsoever. DE have been hinted at, and presumeably someone is working on. Some sculpts have been seen. Not a thing on Eldar.

I think the next time around we're going to see a number of Aspect Warrior types done in plastic. The Avatar needs an update. They're deffinitely one of the armies with the most options not in plastic. GW sees this a problem, I'm sure. GK and SoB have the same issued, but their issues mostly stem from theirs being troops.

Wraithguard need an update. Warpspiders I think would be decent in plastic. I think swooping hawks would benefit from it as well, but being plasticized versions of the current models. Jet bikes are a bit of a two for one, with shining spears probably done simulatneously. I also think if they do an all plastic Fire Prism, they will probably come up with either a new variant to push the kit. I think there will be a good chance GW will introduce some new units the next time around. Wraithguard could likely get played up, maybe see the return of the ghost assassin or whatever he was called, to make the close combat variant. We'll also see the addition of new special characters, I'm sure; probably making whatever new kits count as troops.

Looks pretty full and pretty decent to me.
-Wraithguard
-Warpspider
-Swooping Hawks
-Jet Bike/Shining Spears
-Avatar
-Fire Prism/--- Prism Variant
-Special Character

I don't see this happening soon since the only person who is likely to get to touch eldar is doing their dark breathren.

IMO, you presume a bit too much. GW's plastic approach starts with existing mixed-metal kits, then Troops, then HQ, then the rest...

Mixed metal:
- Fire Prism (and yes, I'd expect a 3-in-1 kit here - probably a couple Lance / Spinner / D-Cannon variants)
- Shining Spears (and nice that this forms the basis for Jetbikes)

Troops (assuming the current design holds pat):
- Jetbikes
- Wraithguard
- Rangers

HQ
- Avatar (after HE Dragon, LM Steg, sure!)

others
- Spiders, Hawks, etc (assume shared basic Aspect base bodies with modular, Aspect-specific backpacks, weapons, heads & bitz - similar to DA / BT / SW / Assault / Devastator / Command).

My list wasn't in any particular order and I very much agree with you on how GW would prioritize it.

I don't see rangers really in there, too new a model, and more involved than easier alternatives... GW is too lazy to go for it early pn. They'd be a second or third wave.

While GW would redo a number of kits and get rid of all the hybrids, I think they'd like to trim down the number of metal units the Eldar have. I don't think they would want to make any of the Aspect warriors mix and matched in a box. Too much of the character of those units is in the different dynamics of their poses.

@aka: OK, sorry, I thought there was more intent in your post - I was reading more into it than I should have.

I agree that Rangers could be delayed to a later wave.

I'm sure GW would want to cut metal units where possible, but a mix-and-match Aspect would be very doable. Reapers, Dragons, and Avengers could all share basic "standing" bodies. Scorps, Hawks and Spiders could also share "running" bodies. Then, it's just an Aspect-specific sprue of heads, backpacks, weapons, and bitz. So a Reaper box gets standing legs with the Reaper sprue, while the Dragon sprue gets the Dragon sprue. Or GW could do some 2-in-1 kits of Dragons/Avengers; Hawks/Spiders, etc.

I understand what you're saying here. I think GW's mentality at this point is to do each one, separately, even if it means doing them all more slowly. I think it'd be too much of a step back to combine kits like that. I do have enough faith in GW to say that they aren't going to ruin a design for the sake of combining kits.

The other thing is even if they did combine kits the amount of resources saved isn't that drastic. It isn't enough of a saving to do them in one kit. The commonality between aspects isn't enough. Legs maybe torso the same, but when you look at what would fill the rest of the sprue it would be such a tiny fraction. They could do a 6 Aspect squad on a single sprue as opposed to a 6 aspect squad on two sprues. They might as well do two seperate sets.

I heard Dark Eldar will get a massive overhaul in their stats. Like everything will be 4 and they'll be getting 3+ armor saves. Also they're changing the name of the army to Blood Ravens.

Yeah, but they'll all be screaming all the time when they find it it also costs them their big, pointy helmets and pretty, poofy hair.
