Just thought I'd post this, still waiting for glue to dry so I'ma share with you fine folks.

This was made with a McDonalds bowl (they use them for the sausage, or sausage gravy sides), some toothpicks, and thread.

That...makes...no sense. Why would I not? I was just sharing the idea. Since there is no dedicated terrain thread where I could post this that I could find I posted it here, even though its not painted. I figured some people might like the idea that for ~1.00 at McD's breakfast you could make a pillbox.

It'd be better if you used the bowl as a mold for something a bit more substantial than thin styrofoam.

What? I think you've obviously missed the entire point of the post. I didn't use the bowl as a mold? I used the bowl as the pillbox? It's pretty clear there. O.o

Okay let me translate because there seems to be an awful lot of confusion going on here.

Generally people put "WIP" or indicate that they're not quite finished with something when they are posting a work-in-progress. I was also confused as to whether you were actually going to paint it until Horst posted and you replied. "Waiting for the glue to dry" didn't register to me as "waiting for the glue to dry so I could paint it!" I figured you were just taking pictures for fun.

MasterSlowPoke is saying that it would probably be more durable if you used the bowl as a mould (since it's an excellent shape, but a flimsy material) to make a sturdier pillbox for multiple-game use. Styrofoam will probably not last very long (especially with the potential for clumsy folks handling your terrain) and falls into the category of using cardboard for dreadnoughts. Sure it's cheap, sure it works really well, but it might have a short shelf life.

Personally, I'm impressed that you've made something that looks that cool on such a budget. I've seen people spend plenty of money and not make something that looks half as good! I'll look forward to seeing it painted.

As an aside, you seem a little defensive about your creation (understandable, you'll notice I've never posted any pictures of my models!). If you're not looking for C&C then feel free to mention that along with your pictures. Otherwise, people on Dakka will generally feel obliged to comment exactly what they think and sometimes it won't be terribly sugar-coated.

Regardless, I think it looks great. Nice work!

Lol, defensive, possibly, but it seemed rather lacking in coherency, thank you for clearing up what they may have meant. I'm really not all that worried about durability, I mean, I made this in ~7 min, and half of that was looking for my glue! Lol. I was simply posting to share the idea, as I said in the first post. I never would have thought to use it in the first place if it hadn't been laying upside down by one of my models so I thought others might benefit. /shrug if they don't then I apologize for any time wasted, if you do, then yay!

Thanks again DoW!

Yea that really does work well. I have 4 of the same type of bowls from Taco Bell potato bowls. Its a perfect size for the table top.
