I just started an Inquisition army and looking for an Inquisitor model and really want to convert/model my own. Anyone know where i should start or give me some good ideas that would make a kick ass model? All tips appreciated

What Wargear will they have? What Ordo?

My Malleus was made with BT, DA, SM Command Squad, Assault Marine and Dreadnought Bits.

Retinue was made with Old SM models, Scouts and Guardsmen.

This is my inquisitor, I used the necron lord mdel as a base and greenstuffed it from there, there are a few more pics in my gallery. I like to think of him as being Ordo xenos, and I use witch hunter rules. The retinue models are all convreted from older models, some from the old genestealer cult line, some from necromunda models etc.

i was gonna do OM too. Great models maybe ill start with some imperial guard or SM stuff, like a special character i like and model from there.

Dk much about equipment, im a new DH player, what do you guys suggest

Most players are attracted to Termie Armour, Psycannon and generally force weapon or chainfist.

Mine has power armour, Incinerator and Power/Force weapon. Pics up later.

Here is mine. I'm working on replacing the left arm with Psycannon, but for now its just the pistol.

I used Coteaz as a base, added a GK halberd in the right arm, a left arm from an assault marine, and a Hasslefree head. I couldn't figure out what looked wrong as I was building it, and the head didn't have ears. Once I sculpted those on, it looked pretty good.

I was about to buy the Inquisitor Lok (?) from Forgeworld to use as my Inquisitor. Just going to replace the sword hand with whatever weapon I was going to give him (nothing more than a laspistol, I figure). Of course, that is just for my Imperial Guard army and I can afford to splurge a bit on him.

If I get him done...someday...I will post pics.

i was also thinkin of using coteaz too. Hes a pretty solid model and could just pick up a psycannon and nfw for arms. I would also replace the head but maybe with a Grey Knight one. If i did that he might look to grandmasterish though

I used Cortez as my Chaos lord once upon a time. I used the scythe from Typhus and a random plasma pistol. Put some small horns on the head. Just a few things but MAN did it look friggin awesome. I think the Cortez mini has the potential to be just super bad ass, and is really a cool mini all its own.

I build a lot of models for my Dark Heresy campaign, including one inquisitor so far. I've sort of misslaid my camera though, so can't show you :-/ My major hint would be to use a lot of bits from the Empire Free Company from WHfantasy.

But I'd like to second what covenant84 wrote, search for the =I=munda threads (alternate spellings: =][=munda, inquisitormunda, I-munda). There are a lot of crazy skilled conversions in those.

if i use cortez i understand i could use either a termie or power armor nfw bit and a termie psycannon. It might look strange however with the big termie shoulder pad on the cannon side. What do you guys think?

Try looking to some other companies for some inspiration. I recently bought some Anima Tactics minis to use as my IL and his buddies. I don't have the skills or bits to convert something proper, so something like this is far out enough to be unique. Besides, the Anima Tactics minis are simply beautiful.

Any rod like instrument. There are no drawings of them, or at least commonly used ones, so you're free to make it how you want.

I'm using the Terminator Librarian model as a basis for my Inquistor. All those lovely books...

So far I've replaced the Eagle on the staff with a nasty looking blade, built a Psycannon and filed off the horn part of the horned skulls.

Basic Elite Inq
Null rod, auspex, bolter for my ig blob squad.

Inq Lord Shelton
Hood, null rod, and his full ret. That plasma cannon servitor with re roll has paid off a few times big time.

A simple weapon swap of a Hasslefree Libby in PA, made for the Jeriko Reach blog. I deliberately kept the armor plain and functional, free of symbols.

If Malleus, Marine and Guard special characters are advised. Grey Knights are a pretty standard choice, or Sisters of Battle if you want a female Inquisitor(be sure to shave off the fleur-de-lis).

ya i will probably go with a marine or guard conversion. I want him to be more a fire support, non combat inquisitor so i was thinkin nfw and psycannon if in termie armor or just a psy cannon if in power armor. What would you recommend?

Also, i love the posted work so far. Getting some great ideas. Keep it up

Personally the psy cannon is a bit of a point sink over all. Though it looks cool, its not that big of an upgrade to do anything. The incinerator has paid off many times out of a rhino.

Lord, incinerator,hoood,
ret: melta guns, two sages, few mystics.

The sages allow for the reroll on themelta guns out the side of the rhino. Though the incinerator has really burned down the enemy ranks when placed and used correctly.

Can't take a NFW on an inquisitor.

If you want a solid fire support, Give the lord a psycannon, have 3 heavy bolter gun servitors, 2 sages and a mystic. Add acolytes to taste.
