I really dig your color scheme, it seems very...alien.

I really like how you did your zoanthrope (I think that's what it's called, the 4th pic), the "brain" effect looks awesome.

And I think the bases look really neat. I like how you have little paths going through them.

I started this army a year ago spending 6 weeks on them then I shelved them and now Im back impatiently waiting for the new dex. I chewed through painting ~1100 points these last 2 weeks – January seems like a long ways off.

Hey I had been thinking about a good tyranid colour scheme, but I've never imagined this one. Very nice work, very cool result, 10/10 score!

This is how it began

Ok - got a little more done that I thought I would. - a little over 500 points

2 Warriors
a Lictor - 3 completes the set no more will I put these guys together
8 spore mines - Ill need them for the Meitic Spore mines
10 Genestealers - EC and Talons - Broodlord retinue
4 Ravenors - these guys are a complete pain in the butt to put together, almost threw one at a wall after spending 5 hours trying to put 4 dudes together ugh - I didnt not to worry lol but really wanted to

Plus I touched up a few of the MC's

I was planning on selling 40 Genestealers I have on the sprue but after closer examination of the Space Hulk genestealers I have, Ive decided to sell of the Space Hulk stealers minus the Broodlord and paint up the 40 I have on the sprue

For an APoc Army - Having 83 stealers, 2 brood lord and 3 lictors with the Genstealer Infestation formation will work nicely

I refuse to buy the current gargoyle model - I hope they release new plactic figs for these guys - there are a few formations I want to put together but they require gargoyle models ugh

I must say, I love it all so far and am jelous, I have so many nids to get through like you but Iim so lazy and am a perfectionist that cant paint.

How did you make those wings?

It looks like a Scytalon spread out and greenstuff membrane.

I used 4 wings – 2 for each arm. They come from a warhammer fantasy model – you can order them from the bits section of their website. Using the big Tyranid claw I cut it in several places. With the metal wing, I trimmed off the bats and the primary spine on the metal wings that serve as the primary set. On these wings I overlayed the Tyranid claw and used greenstuff to fill in the gaps. I them used greenstuff and some random bits to add support to the inner wings. Each arm has 2 wings attached – an inner and outer wing. I thought the inner wings were needed as just one wing didn’t seem big enough to support the Tyrant in fight.

The wings are from the Winged Nightmare fantasy model - The bitz image is below.

Ok - so to do the Endless Swarm AND all those stealers.....Ill need to average 10 models a week between now and January - just in time for the new Dex

I have the 40 stealers and Ill need to paint up just under 4 boxes of gaunts to get to 120 (I have 2 of the 4 boxes on hand). I have 58 complete at this point - 18 Hormaguant, 16 Termaguants, and 24 Spineguants

Is Endless swarm really that good?

I completed assembly and priming of another 24 genestealers and 16 guants of various types - my goal is to paint them all by the end of the weekend

Im using an enamel gloss clear coat to finish the model - feedback on that is appreciated - Im 50/50 on it. One day I like the way the finish coat makes the claws and chitin plates look - the next day I think it makes the model look plastic.

And don't do the Trygon - we're about to get one in plastic, so no need to mess around with overpriced badly-cast resin.

My Forgeworld order came in:

I ordered flying ripper swarms, when I saw the wings I thought Id use them to make enough gargoyles so I could field the Kraken Tendril Swarm formation. Ive been using Genestealer Sything talons for my flying rippers anyways.

They do look a little small but I refuse to buy the current Gargoyle figs.

If Im thinking correctly - GW will make sure the Dex encourages use of models previously unused to help out sales - so Im thinking having a few Gargoyles isnt a bad thing.

I think the wings are fine, but I would probably pull them in a little closer to the body. Everything looks great.

The color scheme is epic win, and i really wish i could be as fast/motivated as you are to paint

What do you think of the quality of the Trigon you got from FW ? I really want to buy one, but GW is probably gonna make a plastic kit, so i'm still undecided.

The Trygon was a pleasure to assemble - 1.5 hours. Im holding off painting any of the new FW bits I recently received until I get through my remaining gaunts. Itll be my reward so to speak. For the quality - I have bought the FW drop pods and baneblade and also the respective GW kits. I like the FW kits better. Its the weight and detail of the model I like better. Im certain the GW kit will look slightly different - Im happy about that.

Yeah, that looks awesome. Even though the trygon is less daunting than I imagined, it is more than capable of taking care of itself. Super-heavies beware!
