looks amazing. What did he start as base? I don't recognize the model. I love fluffy nurgle, and you're doing it well. Any pics of the infantry?
I haven't had access to my chaos codex in like 4 months (don't ask) but don't you have to pay for P icons on plague marines? I'm asking because there is no point to taking them if you don't have Deep Strikers. I would either drop them and get a power weapon/power fist for the third squad or [radical option] drop the fourth squad to replace it with 2x squads of 7 demons. Kinda putting the cart before the horse, but it would give you some CC flexibility and help keep your marines out of combat. Think about it.
Over all, love it. I'll be following this.

@humblesteve: thanks! he started off as a FW plague ogryn. i havent started the infantry just yet...ill throw up a couple test minis here to get some input on themes this weekend of next week. I was planning on deepstriking the oblits...in case some flamers or TL meltas are needed. your lesser demon suggestion is interesting. i like having a more mechanized list but ill think about it, thanks!

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

I don't like the GD in the list. Shave 5 points (one per Icon) and do a termicide instead?
Because after the brilliant way that DP came out, I want to see some terms...

Oh, and if this is going to be a blog, you could get a mod to move it for you to the P&M blogs section.
I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Hey man, glad I convinced you to come over here! I love the green stuff work, I think my absolute favorite part is a small thing, but it is the open wound on the bicep. I like that you can see the muscle fibers in it - it doesn't even need to be painted to look gory.

Well its more a short story thats hard to follow than an army theme...but meh its close enough
Army Name: Belahaam's Rot
Army Theme:
--== Top Secret: Property of the Xorian Cabal, Calixian Conclave ==--
Abridged Report: The Belahaam Incident
Date: 354.M40
Location: Belahaam, Calixis Sector.
- Dismembered remains of a squad of Dark Angel, Ravenwing scouts found by a routine PDF patrol in the outskirts of the capital city, Tolumi. PDF patrol takes the remains of the Ravenwing scouts to the main hospital for autopsy and examination
- Autopsy revealed an unknown neurotoxin that was assumed to be responsible for the horrendous sores weeping blood, pus, and dark green liquid found throughout the bodies of the Dark Angels. The PDF patrol and medical examination team immediately quarantined within a containment chamber.
- 48 hours after exposure to the body fluids of the deceased Dark Angels, the PDF patrol and medical examination team began to develop rashes that when scratched opened up revealing the rotting, corrupted flesh beneath. Maggots began to appear within skin lesions two hours after initial rash development.
- Inquisitorial agents from the Xorian Cabal of the Calaxian Conclave arrived and ordered doctors to not euthanize the victims despite their horrific pleas for a quick end to their suffering. The agents watch and recorded the deaths of the victims in the containment chamber. The agents leave with the remains of the Dark Angels, PDF patrol, and doctors who performed the autopsy.
- The planetary governor is notified that the entire planet is under quarantine. 2 days later, Belahaam is razed via orbital bombardment.
------ the following pict recording was recovered from the recording module from one of the intact Ravenwing helmets -------
VERBAL TRANSCRIPT OF PICT-RECORDED DOCUMENT
LOCATION: BELAHAAM
DATE: 354.M40
RECOVERED FROM RAVENWING IN HELMET RECORDING MODULE
TRANSCRIBED BY MAGISTER NIXIOS, ORDO MALLEUS, SCINTILLIAN INQUISITORIAL DATA-LIBRARY VAULT, 357.M40.
[Pict-record white noise segues to] Blue hued night vision. Pans right. 5 other Ravenwing bikers dismounted (subjects i, ii, iii, iv, v), huddled behind a large tangle of swamp trees, checking their bolter rounds. Sound of faint rumbling in the distance.
Pict source moves suddenly to the left. Right hand motions and the other Dark Angels move forward.
Voice (pict-source): Brothers, our bounty has arrived.
A group of giants [sujects vi-g], clothed in long robes stride towards a stone formation nestled between an ancient pair of trees. [Pict source zooms in]. Identification impossible [faces obscured by robes and hood]. They appear to be gathering in a circle chanting something. A flash of motion occurs 40 meters ahead [Pict-recorder disorientates and re-focuses]. A monstrous form appears out of the darkness (subject vii). (vii) is a humongous bloated figure approximately 16 feet tall and covered with sores and tumors. (vii) stretches what looks to be wings and flies directly at pict-source.
Voice (pict-source): By the Emperor!! Fall back!! Call in the strike now!! We must let [words obliterated by detonating bolter rounds] know, they will pay for their heresy!!
Bolter rounds detonate inside (vii), its guts spill out revealing rotting lumps of meat and maggots, (vii) continues its course...
Voice (iii): Sergeant Argos! our secure vox channel is jammed!
Pict-source turns towards (iii) just as a hulking figure (subject viii) buries a crackling powerfist deep inside (iii)'s chest. (viii) is clad in ancient, rusting power armor. As he tosses (iii) aside and lumbers towards pict-source...his face is in plain view...masses of flies cover his rotten flesh hangin from his skull...
Voice (pict-source): Die traitor!! You dare [words obliterated by bolter fire] the Emperor!! [bolter fire continues]
Bolter rounds explode against (viii)'s power armor blowing off chunks of ceramite and flesh. In a flash (viii) closes in, grabs (pict-source) by the neck
Voice (viii): My lord, what do we do with this one?
Pict-source pans up, revealing (vii)'s grotesque face, drooling saliva and pus out of a corner of his mouth, dwarfing even (viii). With dark miasma emanating from his pores, he stretches his wings and smiles...
Voice (vii): Tend to our friends performing the glorious ritual, that cannot be interrupted. I shall give this one a gift from our father...
Screaming, pict-recording thrashes [picture blurs], convulsing gurgling...
[picture out. recording ends]
Automatically Appended Next Post: @ HybridNecro: thanks man i hope the rest of the army turns out just as nice
@blightdrone: lol...i thought i was goin crazy or something...not even sure what P&M stands for...
@somnicide: thanks bro! actually the GSing on this guy was pretty simple...just slap lumps of GS on him and break out my miracle tools (silicone clay shapers) and TADA! Automatically Appended Next Post: Okay...after a couple iterations I finally think i found a color scheme that i like for my DG...
this is a pretty quick rough go at a paintjob...i just wanted to see how the colors looked together
Looks like im going to have to make the tan more white, and will have to highlight the green more...
maybe wash the gold with some blue/purple?
ill also be giving the PMs an oil wash to give it a more weathered look beyond paint chips...
what do you think?

Here are some WIP shots of my PMs so far...
Im gonna refine the blending...add more subtle shading, dont think theres enough contrast on the white areas...
Will be doing the trim a dark bronze like the backpack and bolters...
Will pick out the paint chips and scuffs with some highlights...

Warboss Gutrip: haha i guess ewwwwwwy is a compliment for slimy disease-ridden marines
Empchild/Hallucination: the secret is hairspray! i got this technique from the model masterclass book from FW but its been in use for a while in the scale model community.
DrunkenBoxer: yep! i wanna see yours too! (thats what she said XD)
1) Basically you paint the model in the color you want your paint chips to look, wait for paint to dry fully
2) Apply 3 coats of hairspray, wait to dry fully
3) Then start painting the armor in the color scheme of your choice, wait to dry
4) Then run some warm water and stick the mini under the water and scrub with a toothbrush. The water will dissolve the hairspray loosening the top layer of paint creating random paint chips.
if you look at the paint chips there are a lot of angular edges. so if you need to paint on additional chips, make sure you paint some hard edges on them and they will look more realistic, good luck! (:

I love the DP so far. That's a great use of the Plague Ogryn model. As sculpted by FW, it always seemed kind of muddy and blobby. In your hands, it's acquiring a sharper form and an atmosphere of genuine menace. Well done.
The challenge with painting Nurgle schemes, of course, is making the result look diseased, poxed, rusted, decrepit.... rather than just half-assed. Your flaking effect shows very meticulous craftsmanship. I hope people will look closely enough to see that.

Fantastic start to your army! The chipped paint effect is really excellent and that daemon prince you're sculpting is amazing (and also appropriately disgusting... which is a really impressive mix .
Are you using an airbrush over the layers of hairspray, or painting over it with a brush? Seems like the liquid from brushed paint might run havoc with the hairspray... Just curious because I'd love to give the method a try.
Keep up the great work... I can't wait to see this army in person.
