Wow people's first models are getting better and better.
Is it the genetics been passed , or are we evolving!

i hear ya luna, seems like people keep putting up these 'just starting out' models that are just as good if not better than alot of 'veterans'...

To be fair, its not my first time ive painted. it just happens to be the first model i finished. i have a bad habit of starting an army, putting it together, half painting it, then changing my mind and moving on to a new army. i just wanting to post it and see what kind of feedback i get from the forums.

Good man. A little bit of grey highlighting on the edges of the armour and I'd call that guy finished. It's well done too man, be proud.
Sometimes I sit for ages just looking at the amount of stuff I've still got to paint. I've pretty much banned myself from buying anything new now, which is a shame because I've even planned my next army. :S
Keep up the good work dude, a fully painted force looks boss on the gaming table.

I'm in the same boat, minus the forethought. I keep scouring the internet for deals and buying up units for both my Orks and my SM. I've got over 900pts of Orks and over 1300pts of SM, and my current painting tally is at... well, I painted those 3 big shoota boyz I put up in my "first minis painted" thread a little while back. Too many models (ok, I take that back ), too little time.
As for the chappy, I think he looks great. Nice and clean. As difficult as it can be to finish any of the million projects many of us seem to have going on at once, try to finish some of those painting projects you've already started. If this is how you finish things, you'd have a very nicely painted force in less time than it would take you to half-ass that next army you always seem to be planning.

That looks very nice for a first model. The painting is nice but i personally don't like the metal on the shoulder pad on the 3rd picture
