Hi Guys,

So after reading over the new Skaven codex I realized I had a major project that had to be made. The Hell Pit Abomination is amazing in the game and every Skaven player should have one. Anyway, I knew nothing out there was available so scratch build was my only option.

After raiding my bitz bin I found some extra Nid stuff along with two Rat Ogren boxes. These along with pink foam, hot melt glue, and a cheap $12 toy from our local hobby center got my part list finished.

Step 1. I took some normal pink foam and used a 2" tick piece about 8 inches long. I used a hot knife to shape the piece until it looked something like a worm mixed with a giant rat.

Step 2. I used hot melt to coat the whole body to give it strength and durability.

Step 3. I attached the toy by cutting it in half and hot melting it to the main body. This allowed my main structure to be built and allowed me to have a strong support system to judge height and overall size of the end product.

Step 4. I hot melt glued all kinds of bits on the body to give it that breaking out look.

Step 5. I started shaping the resin bits and began the sculpting for the main face. Little details like cuts, blisters, symbols and other goodies got added.

Step 6. I wrapped a crappy hobby chain all around the beast to show its tied down look.

Step 7. I took normal static grass and applied it in various areas with crazy glue to give the end result the hairy rat skit portion.

Step 8. I'm waiting for the whole thing to dry overnight before I prime it and start the paining. I should have this finished by mid week so I'll post pictures as I take them.

I hope you guys like this and feel free to ask questions if you need any help building one of your own.

Take care.

Romeo

I love it, and i need to make one
(if anyone has the fluff could you PM it to me please?)

r3n3g8boy: as soon as you apply a basecoat the grass will become rigid enough to paint fully.
Ive used this a few times to add more "fur" to rat ogres, and the end product of this method looks good.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

Ok, so I decided to get things moving and start painting. I'll try and finish it by the weekend.

Anyway, here it is base coated with brown.

The static grass is a snap to paint once the primer and base coat dries. Just like JD21290 said its rigid when it dries so it make for an easy dry brushing.

Hope you like the progress.

I love how you had Hierodule parts in your bitz box.

The only part that bugs me is the wheels, but that's only cause I was hoping to see what you would do for legs.

If you look in the codex the Hell Pit in there has some weird fat leg that moves the whole thing along. I thought about doing legs but remembered the fluff says its a giant worm they try to keep alive with rat parts.

So that the reason for the legless look.

I was really iffy on the wheels also since they are a cheap toy. I'll have to do a really good job on the paint to hide how crappy they are. I'm going to go for a rusted look on the wheels, and then just go crazy with the main body.

Something nurgly but still dirty since this thing did come from underground.

More pics to come.
