Hello Dakka. Had my first bad experience with user deathscyth. If anyone knows him please PM with contact info. Here was the trade that was suppose to happen:

Dreadnought 1 Complete Unassembled
Demon Prince 1 Complete Spare bits

I sent everything two day priority on Oct 16th and he received everything Oct 18th the same day he was suppose to ship everything. Here we are the 16th of November and I still have no package and he has not contacted me back since the 10th of Nov. I will say that at least he has communicated with me but a month and still nothing and he can not provide me with any tracking info, I think I have been taken. Like I said above if you know the poster and how to contact him other than what I have already please let me know.

As a point - this user has not been active on Dakka since 2009/10/30 and has limited posts. Presumably you have his mailing info?

Just so you know.

Failure by him to complete your trade is mail fraud, a felony in USA. Let him know and then go to your local post office to get details on how to proceed.

Deathscyth and I have an outstanding trade. I sent him a large amount of Eldar in exchange for a large amount of Orks. He told me he'd get me a photo, but he's "not great with computers" and I never got one. He was particularly active in making sure I mailed things out to him, but once I confirmed shipment, I didn't hear from him for a week until I sent him 3 PMs, when he told me he "deleted all his PMs," and needed me to remind him who I was. When I did, he told me that he sent things out, but that they (whichever shipping agency he used) told him it would take 3-6 weeks for delivery. Having done some investigation, there is no way to ship anything these days that takes longer than a week to ten days; even parcel post promises a week. No confirmation number either.

As it's only been ten days since he confirmed shipment, I haven't panicked; yet. But when I saw this thread, I thought I'd recount my experience with him. If we can stay in contact here, that'd be really swell.

I have to report I too am having issues with deathscyth. I sent off items on the 21st of October but the items have been marked Return to sender and are now in a US Depot. I have yet to receive the promised items in exchange either.

How does this Mail Fraud thing work for people outside the US? If someone who has filled one out could PM me with what has to go where (the US is weird and scary to simple folk like me) I would be ever thankful

We have recently updated the Dakka Swap Shop Guidelines to include information regarding what to do in the event of mail fraud (again, much thanks to RogueMarket for compiling the information). If you guys haven't yet, I highly recommend everyone to look over the advice as it could help you in future transactions.

I know you asked for a PM, but I'm going to post it here so that everyone interested in the answer will see.

From experience, even if you are a non-US resident, they take mail fraud committed by a US resident VERY seriously. Provide as much information as you can, and you should get a call or email from them with a case number in about a week.

There are a number of people dissatisfied with trades you've made with them. It seems they haven't been receiving the items you've promised them. I'm sure this all a matter of a lack of communication, and I'm not one to panic quickly, but I suspect that without some fast answers, people are going to be making a lot of phone calls.

If anyone did get a phone number off him, could you please PM it to me. I only have a Address (which I will be sending a letter to tomorrow).

'Transaction Report' threads are a way for a user who has made a trade to report on how the trade went with another user. Only a description of the status of the trade and relevant information is allowed. Conjecture, insults, attacks, etc, are not.

Other users who have had experience with either of the users involved in this transaction are free to post details of their trades into this thread, but again, no conjecture, insults, attacks, etc are not allowed.

Well I am glad... Ok not glad but nice to see I am not alone on this one. I will work with some folks that have privately PMed and I will be in contact with all of those that have been effected by this so we can see if we can get this issue resolved for all of our sanities.

He gave me two different answers. The first was 1-3 then it turned into 3-6. Either way I agree even parcel post I should have gotten something by now

well i had a trade with him for a ton of ogres
i sent out all the necrons but i made sure i had a retractment clause on the package
i received no response for when i got his addy cause i asked for a confirm number
i retracted my package the day before it made it to his house losing me 20 bucks to send it
i want my ogres and i still have the crons sitting waiting

i was furious when he did not send it and i am still disgrunteled with his lack of communication and obvious shadiness

Sorry to hear it but glad to see you at least didnt lose your stuff!

there seem to be enough people involved in this to warrant multiple calls to his local police department. if several different people file reports from around the world, i think that justifies a visit from the local beat cop. especially if you consistently follow up and annoy them.

Like I said, I'm going to hold out some hope, as it's only been 10 days, but I would really appreciate being kept in the loop on what you guys are doing and how it's progressing, so I can throw my hat into the ring when it's time.

I am all over it. Frosty I dont blame ya for wanting to hold out for hope but with 4 of us having the same thing going on I wouldnt be too sure. I am awaiting some add info and I will PM everyone who has posted in this thread with issues and we will get a game plan from there.

So, I managed to locate the phone number. Rang it, asked for a "J. L." (Those were the initials he gave me) for an address in ### S******e D****, Pacifica, Califorinia and they have never head of him apparently. Confirmed the address and that J. L. was unknown.

Thus, I can conclude that Mail Fraud time is upon us, and I just hope my items don't get lost in a US mail depot forever :(

Well Gwar! thanks for doing some digging. Dont like to hear that news but I guess its time to start playing hardball. Someone else is helping us out too but if everyone could that has been affected by this, PM me and we shall get a game plan going and see what we can do for everyone involved and Gwar! we will do what we can to get your stuff back asap

I'm about 50 minutes away from pacifica, sounds like deathscythe has got stuff going to a business out there. Shouldn't be hard to figure out who he really is, its even better for you guys, since now a business is involved in mail fraud.

good luck tried with this guy he dont answer shipped him stuff he said it would be 2-3 weeks I thought it sounded weird but I sent stuff already truested him havent heard from him since, mail fraud is a joke the us post office doesnt care you can compain but it will most likely stay at a complaint and never be acted or looked upon.

Whats the acutal address, that link looks to only track it to a depot in England (whatever you call that little island you live on :p )

That's actually a good idea. I can do some research and find the nearest gaming stores to Pacifica and start calling them. Additionally, it looks like the most recent one was mine, maybe start checking out the other trading and barter sites for pictures of my/our stuff?

Everything was out of package, poorly painted, bent, broken, or busted, save for the Jetbikes. I think what's kinda sad is that now that I'm back into playing and getting into it, I might have liked the chance to really work on it, maybe strip it down, fix it up, paint it up, and maybe even play with it. Ah well, lost opportunity, right?

Honestly, mail fraud is a federal offense, esp with international victims. Contact his local police department, and the post office. Gwar, you can even go as far as to contact your embassy.

Gwar, I heard you got his number? I'll do some backwards tracing, and attempt to find his number, and we can compare.


I do have a backup action plan though, which I'm currently also using to help bunker with the hulksmash guy.

Not 100% guruanteed - but from my past experiences with high time scammers, it does make them respond.
