It has been six days since last I enjoyed a full night's sleep. I suppose I should explain to those who may perhaps stumble upon these scribblings that I am not mad. Surely, you proclaim, all madmen speak thusly to which I reply that I am but a sane man upon whom has been thrust the most insane of circumstances. I am a Scrivener, 3rd Class currently assigned to the Archivist Hall on Upper Level 408. In addition, I am a storyteller of no small talent though still fame and fortune elude me. Forgive my digressions, concentration is hard of late.
It began, as do many tragedies, with a woman. I was taking my midday meal upon the great green expanse of the Governor's Parade Field when I caught her out of the corner of my eye, cliche' though that might be. It was the flash of her hair, you see. It was the brightest of neon and as the light reflected off of it a multitude of rainbows spiraled away as though from a prism. As she caught my eye, somehow I caught hers and she smiled at me ever so softly. The rest of the day vanished in a fugue state - I presume I returned to my scrivener duties for there was no reprimand - but beyond that there is no acknowledgment of time.
That first thing I remember after our eyes met was awakening in my own bed, the sheets soaked with a nocturnal emission. I rose and cleaned myself off and sat with a cup of warm chai trying unsuccessfully to coax sleep back into my room. I spent the rest of those hours of artificial darkness imagining the touch of the Woman's lips upon my own. I attempted, unsuccessfully, to capture her in prose or sketch - each rendition would fall short or, nearing perfection, disaster would strike. I knocked my chai over once with my hand, another the pen with which I was drawing snapped unexpectedly, marring the picture with blotches of black ink. Each night has passed in the same manner - I awake stained with my own seed and attempt to create a simulacra of this woman who so disturbs my rest.
The day offers no respite, however. My work in the Archivist Hall is suffering - my midday break has grown successively longer as I wait for another glimpse of she who has beguiled me so. Perhaps she comes earlier? Tomorrow I shall shift my break and surely, then, I will see her again.
Well, thanks for stopping in to my p-log. I haven't had much success with these things in the past so I figured I would take a couple of different tacks - first and foremost, I need a story. It is how I breathe, it is what keeps me motivated. It is my intention to update the story as I update the pics. Sometimes it will be a paragraph or two, sometimes just a line or two. The dramatis personae (and thus, the voice) may even change from time to time - though they will all take place on the same world - I am imagining an incursion from innocuous beginnings to horrible end.
Anyway, now on to what you all really came here for. I am working on y my slaanesh stuff first and I painted out my first test model - thanks to Shep for the tips on how to do creepy white skin.
I am pretty happy with how it is looking - here is a list of all the built and primed Slaanesh I have - it is not quite 1000 points all told - I am saving some space for Seekers when they come out and I have a couple of models that aren't built yet.
I am working on building some fiends from the distant past - the date on the tab is 1988... stay tuned to see how far GW has come and how lucky we are to have the quality of sculpts that we do.
Thanks for looking, I'd love any feedback.

Just finished building these old fiends - the tabs said 1988 - crazy how far they have come but really interesting how the "new" one captures the feel and aesthetic of the original without being slavish to it. @lunahound - I will check and see what I have and pm sometime (hopefully this weekend)

Narrative! What a great way to frame a plog. I'm really looking forward to following this.
The Slaanesh stuff looks like it's off to a great start. I love the way the paint scheme is working with the basing.
Is the daemonette's tail finished? There might be an opportunity there to add another accent of color, without marring the alabaster of the creature's "human" skin. (So pale, so bewitching....)

Thats a really good tie in for your plog. Im really impressed. The paint scheme looks really good on the daemonette as well, the pale skin adds a very sinister look but still somewhat showing that which once was human and since corrupted. Very nice attention to detail. If possible, can you upload the pictures in a slightly larger resolution? I would like to zoom in and get a feel for all the details and time you've invested.

Great stuff I really love the skin you did on the deamonette. Only thing I could say is if you can try and take pics on a surface that isnt so reflective. I think it detracts fromt he quality of your paint job a bit.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

Hey guys, thanks for the comments -
@lunahound - the gold was a base coat of tau ochre followed by a wash of devlan mud. I then painted the whole thing shining gold. When that dried I mixed some skull white into shining gold and did a really careful highlight. After that I mixed chainmail and shining gold together and did another light careful highlight. Basically it was a lot of work that would have been much easier had I had burnished gold ;-)
@tinfoil - I thought that the tail was finished but your question makes me second think it ;-)
@tekk - yeah, I will do a higher resolution this weekend.
@drunkenboxer - the tomg will be all tzeentch - the horrors aren't based yet and I felt like painting. I am very tempted to do something like this http://www.warseer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3828100&postcount=23 for at least some of them, since I have kind of been making my horrors (at least in name) lovecraftian. I should be able to find time to base the horrors this weekend.

Really nice start, I like the daemonettes pale skin. Can't wait to see more, I'll be watching this one.
On a side note, I like the idea of Cthulhu themed daemons and think that a few conversions sprinkled throughout the army would give it very unique look.

Yesterday afternoon in my search for the Woman I found myself in a darkened alley way. My stomach was expressing its discontent over the stale cracker I had for breakfast and a long delayed lunch. As good fortune would have it there was a sign over a small doorway advertising a diner of distant and exotic delicasies. If the place had a name it was not prominently displayed. I entered with plan of grabbing a quick sandwich or perhaps a wrap of meat and bread. Heady odors assaulted my nostrils and made my eyes water. My stomach turned in upon itself with such force that the cramp felt more like a solid blow and I staggered!
Fortunately, there was another patron in the sitting are. A kind man who caught me me before I fell upon the ground. Still reeling with hunger, I thanked him and he offered me a seat at his table. I accepted gratefully - since I had stopped attending my shifts my human contact has been limited to what little interaction I shared with passers-by.
As I took my seat I looked upon him for the first time. I am no medicae, though my tests revealed both the intelligence and aptitude for such a calling, but it seemed to me as though this man suffered from some sort of acute meningitis or even elephantitis. His head was overlarge in almost the same ratio as that of an infant. His eyes were pinched close together and were a peculiar shade of yellow flecked with red - blood I assumed from tiny vessels forced to carry too much oxygen to that oversized brain.
I must have stared for he pulled about his head a rough linen shawl. I made to apologize but he would have none of it - apparently he was used to far more extreme reactions than my own. He said that he was soon to take his leave but I was welcome to what remained on his plate. His eyes (much like his head!) were apparently too large for his stomach.
Normally, you understand, I would not accept such charity however, I had yet to see a server with whom to place my order. The man left and before I knew it, my hands were tearing the black bread and dipping it into a thick mushy sauce the color of a cloudless sky. I pulled it to my face and sniffed it with no little apprehension. The bread itself had an earthy smell - the grains were still visible and carried the scent of roasted nuts. It was the sauce, however, that was so singular to my mind. I swear to you it smelled of musty scrolls and sweet tobac smoke and even a hint of ink! It makes not sense to you I am sure, but to me it smelled of home. The meats were marbled with fat and tasted sweet as cake. It was truly a feast the likes of which I have never experienced. I was warmed as with liquor though without the accompanying dizziness.
I quickly devoured the plate and when there was none left I glanced around to ensure no other patrons were watching (there were none in the place I now noticed!) and licked clean the small bowl of sauce. I looked about for a server whom I could pay but there were still none. With no idea of how much to pay - or if my largeheaded friend had already paid at time of order - I cleared my throat loudly and waited.
It wasn't long before I caught myself yawning. I could wait no longer. I just hoped that my unknown benefactor had settled his account before leaving and walked out the door, my yawns growing heavier. I felt a moment of excitement, perhaps I could sleep! My hab was a good hour away at this point and I dared not risk it. I went further into the alley and hid myself from the of passers by. A short doze, I told myself, and nothing more.
Though it was much more, and what dreams I had!
As I mentioned before, I am switching from my Crimson Fists back over to Daemons for the TOMG. This is my combat patrol.

Oh nice!
I think my favorite is the third one, with the Spawn face sprouting a spikey beard. (It looks like he's going to be the Brain.)
It's hard to get a good feel for the Eye. Is he finished yet? Would putting the eyeball on the end of a twisting, sinuous snake-neck (or coil of snake-necks) be feasible at this point? It'd be cool, picturing him winding the eye around to pan his baleful gaze.
If not, it's still an effective look, particularly in tandem with his fellow princes.

That is kind of a bad angle for the Eye - it does stick out a little bit, it could have gone longer, but I kind of like the yoked out roid head look with all the muscles and yeah, that is the brain - he has a vein sticking out of it which will be awesome to paint - I totally wanted a 1950s feel with the brain. I have to credit Shep and Gitsmack for their help on these.

Great stuff, man! Glad to see your daemons getting some well deserved attention.
I really like the antiqued look of the gold on your daemonette... I can't wait to see a whole herd of them (don't know if "herd" is the right term for daemonettes... maybe "gaggle"?) on the table top. The contrast between the skin and all of the accent colors is great - looking forward to seeing how that carries on to the rest of the fiends and such.
I'm also looking forward to seeing some paint on your princes... got a fond spot in my heart for those three.

It is a strange thing for a man on the brink of exhaustion to wish that sleep would be even more elusive. I have wandered through all of the alleys for a dozen levels seeking out that cafe that I might have them undo what they have done! I can only assume that the blue hummus was spiced with some powerful hallucinagenic narcotic. If they have the herb that can cause this, surely they have one which counteracts it!
I dream of monsters in the guise of men with ever shifting faces - leering one moment and cackling the next. a snarl will become a smile and a frown. Tears stream from eyes only to combust moments later causing the flesh to burn away in an instant like a street performers flash paper. Where should be scars and skull is fresh pink skin, smooth as a baby's! Oh and if only the madness would stop there it would be torment aplenty! There is another who comes to me as my father and as I blink in my dreams he changes, each time to one whom I have trusted and loved. He draws me near to him before bursting like an overripe guara fruit leaving me covered in blood and questioning what has happened?
Ah what agony it is to search but not find! First for the fuchsia haired maiden and now this cafe. Were madness just to claim me, perhaps I could gain some peace!
I did a bit of work toward my Tale of Many Gamers models - I got the tile down on the bases of all the models that are going to have them and assembled them. I also built a few horrors out of spawn bits (these will be my "bolt" horrors so that they are easily recognizable for my opponent - and myself - I have a tendency to pull special weapons first without paying attention.) They do fit in the aesthetic of the metal horrors quite nicely. I am hoping to get sand on bases tonight and possibly do some priming.
Without further ado I present Nyralathoth's Nightmares.
-------------------------
Nyarlathoth on foot (the old flamer model) with the Changeling.
--------------------------
Nyralathoth and the Changeling from another angle.
--------------------------
The whole cohort.
--------------------------
And another angle. Pay particular attention to the sippie cup of madness and the rubber ducky of doom (damn, I thought I cropped them out...)
Anyway, I will probably not post another pic of them primed (because they will be the same basic thing, just more monochrome) so will probably not get around to updating for a few days.
Thanks for looking!
