Blood Angels

BA, but only if they get a new codex soon.
Otherwise, I'd go with BR.

I prefer Blood Angels, given their rich history with 40k, both in the fluff and in the actual tabletop game. I'm the proud owner of a 2nd ed. starter box with that great old John Blanche illustration on the cover, where the Blood Angels are fighting a huge battle against some Orks.

On the other hand, I actually do like Blood Ravens. They have a nice muted color scheme, and some interesting (if ham-handed) fluff. Also, come on, Commander Boreale. That gak's hilarious.

It's a tough choice. Both of them have kind of tortured pasts (BA's geneseed is slowly mutating out, BRs aren't even sure who their seed came from...not to mention Angelos' decision to Exterminatus one of their recruitment planets), and both of them have some seriously badass heroes. I think when it comes down to it, I have to go with BAs. They just have some really awesome HQ character choices (Dante, anyone?). Also, I'm not entirely certain, but IIRC the Blood Angels used to be a Legion, led by Sanguinius...the Blood Ravens origins were as one of the Chapters.

Oh, and for the opposite reason of SRM, I have to go with Boreale - he really made the BRs look kinda silly. Though his words do come up frequently at my buddies' weekly gaming session.

Blood Angels though I do wonder what their new codex will bring. Think it going to try to show off their vampireism the same way the space wolf codex shows off their love of wolves?

I never played em but always had a soft spot for them.

Blood Angels, I mean is this really an honest question? The Blood Ravens look like a miss-colored Blood Angel. They should be absorbed into the Blood Angels as a Successor Chapter. hehe yeah I know this is going to step on some Blood Raven toes, so sorry in advance, but they're just wanna-be Blood Angels.

Ok well anyway Blood Ravens are just cop offs of like 5 chapters. there history is awesome and they got great characters but the name and color scheme gets me. Like the Ultrasmurfs. Who everyone wants to play. That and everyone who has played the DOW2 thinking that it is going to be a awesome hobby always play any of the playable races in the game.
They are cover boys just like the Ultrasmurfs so i go Blood Angels because they are a legion.

Blood Ravens as they have better fluff than the red emo marines.

Blood Angels are no longer a legion. At one point in time they were, but now they're just another chapter of Codex Adeptes Astartes.

Blood Ravens have the potential to be far more interesting than Blood Angels. For example, a chapter of space marines that was created using old Thousand Sons geneseed as an experiment is far more interesting than vampires...in space. In any event, a highly psychic chapter (no other chapter is like this, at least none of the major ones) led by a council instead of a chapter master (unique) that travels about looking for knowledge (unique) is not just a mixture of stolen ideas.

Hell, the more I read about the Blood Ravens, the more I want to play them.

Its sort of a no-win. The blood ravens are a codex chapter, must like 85% of the armies out there. So the questions is really "[insert codex chapter name here] vs. Blood Angels".

Still, I play the Blood Ravens as I like their fluff and I like librarians. So there.

I remember buying the "Angels of Death" codex for 2nd edition back in '96. As you may recall that was one fat book, combining both the codices for Blood Angels and Dark Angels... A weird marketing decision, you might say!

Anyway, the book rocked, brimful of fluff and juicy illustrations. It kept me hooked on Blood Angels for a long time. Then came 3rd edition with two disappointments: Codices stripped of fluff and a seriously messed up paint scheme for the boys in red! I don't know how this varies with the companies, but IMO BA look their best with black shoulder pad trim and yellow chest eagle, not simply red everywhere and a metallic eagle. I love how GW varied their colour scheme - blue helmets for devastators, yellow for assault marines... Check out the 2nd edition box art that Brother SRM referred to; here you have a wonderful eclectic mix, with individual heraldry on pads, power fist, weapons... Blanche was great like that.

I don't want to sound like a whiner - the game certainly seems to have progressed - but I like the adventurous side of second edition.

I sort of designed my own chapter too, they are called the Ebony Raiders. Their armour is black with gold trim and eagle and very like drybrush of boltgun metal for a metalic look. They love their infantry and devastator squads.

Blood Ravens.

Their thirst for knowledge seems almost parallel to the Thousand Sons...and I prefer the Thousand Sons for traitor marines. They seem to almost border on heresy in terms of gaining and protecting the knowledge they have and acquire.

Almost like a loyalist faction of the Thousand Sons....

I have nothing against Blood Angels, but I HATE vampires!!! That means I hate Blood Angels too. (sarcasm)
On the other hand I like the Blood Ravens because they are a simple standard chapter! And I like their color schemes.

I prefer Blood Angels(Blad Enđls)

I play Blood Ravens... but I do wish I'd picked a chapter with special rules...

I played Blood Angels under 2nd edtion so they are my favorite and I agree Kveldulv on this.
