So everything here is shut down because of a blizzard, and one can only play So Much MW:2 at a time, and I'm bored. I actually did this earlier in the week, but now I'm curious how many other people paint their cases. Do you paint them randomly or to match the army that goes inside of it?

I'm slowly working out a design to paint on mine, the wrapping needs to be figured out before I can transfer it. I'm trying to get an effect whereby the head in the corner is seen from the top looking down, the front looking forwards, and the side looking right. If I can pull it off, might repeat on the other side.

I'm planning a sort of hydra design, because I have a reptilian/hydra sort of theme running through my Dark Eldar, I'm hoping to eventually do a small (500-700 points ish) group of Alpha Legion, and toying with possibly doing a mostly display group of Lizardmen.

Can you tell I have a thing for scalies?

If you have the same type of case as other local players, painting yours is a good idea - there's nothing more embarassing at a tourney than staring at a dozen identical cases and wondering which is yours...

I haven't yet but I might make some stencils and put some paint on my case with them.

I think the OP meant do you paint GW and GW-like cases, ie the big plastic ones.

Obviously one wouldn't paint a fabric case...

I have painted a couple of my GW cases

Orky camo on one and Just painted up the Imperial Eagle on the other.

Easy to differentiate cases when in at GW though.

I second that! No paint will touch my Battle bags, except for my P.A.C.K. that carries my paint and tools. I used to label my GW figure cases but neer painted them. A couple of my buddies however did.

Cheers

Nah, I'm odd enough I would probably paint a fabric case too if I thought of something I wanted to put on it.

All of my cases are labled for what's in them. Other than that I havn't painted them. I've seen alot at my local store that have been painted though.

No painting for me.

I keep my 40k minis in a cabinet. I only have one large army carrying case for 40k, so I just pack what I need for that game.

My D&D minis are in two smaller GW carrying cases, and I have labels to seggregate the human et al case from the monsterous creatures case.

Mine just has patches of tape on it (reflec and normal duct tape) so I can tell it apart (but I don't game at a GW where that would be an issue) from others.

I'm soon upgrading to an aluminium case that holds 240 regular infantry models, and it will just have my username on it (my regular gaming groups know me by it as well as my real name).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

I like to stencil my cases. I put the T'au sept symbol on my cases. Not too difficult - put the symbol on paper, trim it out, a little two sided tape and a bit of spray paint, and it looks really nice. Incidentally, my cases are clear plastic ones from Joann's, cheap and effective.

To OP--I'm sure if you just push through you'll be able to keep playing modern warfare indefinitely..

As for cases...there are some amazing ones out there that look great!

I'm getting a 1520 from the wife for Christmas, and will be doing some fabric painting/patches/embroidery to it when I have it in hand.

It'll have to be pretty generic because it will be caring my Grey Knights/Salamanders/Tyranids/Tau/Imperial Guard depending on what I'm playing.

Here pretty much only the tiny kiddies paint their cases (like ages 10-15).

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I can rarely be bother to paint my miniatures, so painting the case is a long way down a list even if I did think it a good idea.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Misery. Missouri. Who can tell the difference.

I did when I first started in the hobby and only used GW cases in order to tell which army belonged in which box. But now I have a 1520 and a couple of other specialized cases for my other armies so, no I do not paint my cases.

back when the GW cases first came out, everyone in my gaming group bought two or three..... so we almost HAD to paint something on them, if for no other reason than to tell them apart! My first case i painted the eagle on the front silver. thats about it, my second case, i didn't bother, buy the time i got that one, i had a different game group and they all had a variety of cases.

I might do that. My case is currently a transparent tupperware-type container with green foam. I don't have a large enough army to spend the money on a big case yet, so I made one myself.
