Just wanted to run my finished army list past you all for a doubles tournament i'm headed to. It's 750 ponts each (1500 in total vs another pair totalling 1500) I'll be teamed with an imperial guard force with lots of heavy weapons and two griffons. Here is the force:

Battlewagon (with boarding plank, Grabba claw, Red paint, Big shoota)
Inside is 14x choppa/slugga boys, 1 Nob with PK and a Big Mek with a Kustom Force Field

Trukk (with Red paint and boarding plank)
Warboss (cybork body and PK)
11x Shoota boys

Truck (with red paint)
Nob with PK
11x Shoota boys

5 xBurnas (need these to fulfill elite slot - complicated reason but trust me. Would otherwise have beefed up BW with more boys and PK on the Big Mek!)

748 points

Tactics are:

Battlewagon (BW) in middle flanked by trukks (so can only be hit in front armour. Big mek's force field grants 4+ save to all three vehicles and 5+ save to burnas stood hiding behind trucks. Against most enemy, will advance in either 7" or 13 inches a turn to get close to enemy. Burnas there to kill off any terminators etc as they have power weapons. Can deck vehicles with WB or nobs' PKs using the boarding planks and grabba claws. Can swarm troopsif needs be. Gainst swarms I just stay back with troops in vehicles and blast away, charging if needs be

Imp guard ally will ping any monstrous creatures and give me more bombardment/laser fire against swarm.

Any thoughts? - I'm well excited.

Tal

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

If you're pairing with an IG player with heavy weapons and two griffons, you two should probably talk. You need to play as a single team, and the force you have isn't going to mesh with your teammate. You're going to run up the battlefield...ALONE...into 1500 points worth of the enemy who are going to mutilate your 750 points all the way across the field simply through attrition.

When my wife and I play, I play static gunline Tau and she plays orks; typically its 1k points apiece. I bring anti-tank and she brings anti-troop. You should consider that. Talk to your teammate about turning his heavy weapons into even heavier weapons and focusing on anti-tank. Have him get rid of his tanks even - without any tanks out there, the enemy anti-tank will go wasted. Then, you focus on anti-infantry. Dedicate 225 points to a squad of Lootas and field a couple of 30 man ork squads that can defend your IG gunline and assault anything inbound, and go take objectives if you need. If I were teamed up with an IG player with that list, I would bring a squad of gretchin to protect my gunline with 4+ cover saves, two squads of Lootas, a cheap HQ (SAG maybe) and another ork squad as a second troops choice; there's enough blistering firepower between you two to end enemy resistance and negate potential assaults.

In a 2v2 game, ork+tau and ork+IG fight for the title of most deadly duo.

Thanks DoP. Appreciated

Do you not think that the nobs etc in the vehicles with boarding planks are enough anti tank? I wasn't worried about tanks, more about tough infantry like strong characters. Think I may drop the WB and opt for more boys perhaps or maybe Old zogwort to zap tough characters

Essentially are saying that you think I should convert to horde rather than KOS?

I actually think that occupying the enemy by steaming into one side of their force will buy crucial time and take the heat of the IG while they pound the enemy.

And again....I think you need to play WITH your teammate, not simply on the same table as him.

If you toss a squad of nobs into a trukk...a good nob squad with a trukk costs almost 750 points. =p I think you'd be making a big mistake. If your teammate is going to play gunline IG, then you need to play to support that gunline IG. How do you stop gunline IG? You assault them. So you need to counter the ability of assaulting the gunline IG. LIke I said - add some Lootas to strengthen the gunline concept, and use boys to screen his gunline from getting assaulted. That way you can use your Lootas against dangerous MEQ squads, your shoota boys have 24" threat radius with their guns if you move them, and you can keep his line safe.

When I play with my wife 2v2 (Ork + Tau) I bring a static gunline that's mostly heavy support (broadsides and snipers) and crisis suits intended to bring down threatening stuff. My wife's orks are massed units that get up the field and into the face of our enemy to present an immediate threat - IE, I get my entire army to shoot at the enemy the whole game. Turn 1 and 2, I shoot at the enemy while the orks advance into the enemy and they try dealing with the incoming threat. Turn 3-4, the orks are mixed up in assaults while I shoot at anything not in assault. Turn5+, even if all the orks get wiped out....the enemy is still across the board and I finish them off with long ranged firepower. Its like playing Tau kroot the way they wish they could play.

Support your teammate, don't just co-exist on the same table.

Thanks dude, good advice.

I'm not sold on the lootas but I think the strat about my orks preventing assault by tying enemy up will work nicely. So what if my boys kick the bucket, that's what they're there for.

Have spoken to teammate too and he has an awesome array of heavy weapons. I've stuck a killkannon on the BW incase I need to hang back a little against swarm etc.
