Hello Dakkaites, this is my random and sponaneus painting and modelling blog featuring my big green desk of joy. These pages shall be filled with random works in progress and maybe even a few hair-brained ideas that never see fruition.

First up are some pics of my latest Astartes...

I've had great fun trying out different poses with the new plastic marine kits, I've been making them slowly instead of in a rush, and trying out some poses using blu-tack (I don't know what you call that in america)

The two Astartes on the right of batch I have been painted up as Sternguard for my brother. I've been taking my time over the painting of them and there are some bits of damage and stuff on them, but if anyone has any helpful tips please post them! They've got to be looking good to fight for Pedro.

After some wonderful inspiration, mostly from http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/30/243117.page#873662" target="_new" rel="nofollow">here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/30/243117.page#873662I have built something magnificent. Well, I think its great.

I still have to assemble the interior for added 'randomisation' and paint it, but here it is in its beginnings, my dice tower!!!

Like where your heading with this.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Here are some more pieces I've been making up from the Cityfight sprues...you just can't have a game of 40k without perfect 6inch strips of ruins!! so here is my grey plastic addition to it.

and below is my attempt at another original building. I'm sad that most of the examples of buildings built from these sprues have just been the ruined corner of a building that you see on the box. There's so much versatility in this kit, I'm hoping to show some of that versatility!

Ok, so after a time of silence I'm back! And I've cleared all the distractions off my desk to focus on these five dudes. They're blood claws for my space wolves. These particular models are almost 10 years old but have never been painted!! Thats all gonna change this weekend. So begins my weekend challenge....

And heres progress after phase one...its still saturday so I'm hoping to wash them black, then highlight sw grey and then its all details, faces eyes. I hope to have them battle ready by sunday night!!

ps at the bottom of the pic is my favourite paintbrush. Its gw's tank brush. Its made of the same tough bristles that their small drybrush is, but its massive! perfect for slapping on the armour paint! they don't make it any more unfortunately, but its still in good condition.

All good intentions start well, but sometimes get waylaid. After clearing my desk of all distractions they crept up on me again. But I'm still painting away.

I had a bit of a fluff disaster with some waterslide transfers. I reckon if I want to get it right the only way would be to print out some transfers of my own to get the colours right. But if you observe the second photo the four great chapter symbols GW offer, two of them are wrong by the fluff. So I've made the best of the situation and tried to stick on the night runner transfers on the blood claws, but they're not sticking great!

More to come...

Well here it is, my space wolves army. There's a bit to do, but I've very glad that only four models have no paint on them. about 70% of the army is battle ready.

Its my aim in the next two weeks to have this army painted and beautiful! I'll post logs of my process and a few close ups of models that are worthy of it.

Hope you enjoy!

Thanks for your comments, I'm breaking the paint out as we speak!

I have a bit of work to paint over the yellow company shoulder pads to make them black for Logans great company.

I reckon with an hour an evening I could get them up to a great standard. But life is normally not ideal.

I'll keep you posted. For now I shall be interior decorating that land raider crusader!

I've been kit-bashing my old space wolf sprues, the new space wolf sprues, and the new tactical and assault squad sprues. The more I work with the new Space Marine plastics the more I'm convinced that their meant to be used by mixing and matching with each other. I now know that I'd much prefer to buy another space marine battleforce box and another pack of space wolves, rather than buying a space wolves battleforce. I reckon the option to run your army in rhino's and have the running assault marine legs are better than the contents of the space wolves battleforce box. Too much repitition in the poses for my liking.

So here's a pic of the three wolfies I made this evening. I don't know what to put in the melta dudes right hand. I do have a spare melta bomb (which would just be for looks cos grey hunters can't have them) or maybe see if I can fabricate a spare melta ammo cartridge?? What do you think?

Progress is coming along. I really only have today to finish painting my army but I'm happy to have a few under-par paintjobs as long as the army is uniform.

Here's my frantic process...I had to get the interior of the landraider just right before I could glue it together, check out the heart rate displays on the screens!

Yooooo!! I've been playing warhamster all day and loving it!

I've been at a tournament in Ballymena hey, named Dominion Day, hosted by the club named 'Northern Wasters'.

It was an epic day of many battles, I shall write a review and a few battle reports with pics in another thread. But for now I shall post a photo of how much I did get painted, and try to get the painting finished soon!!

Thanks for the feedback, I can assure you though that the fuzzyness of the focus of my camera can only help how the army looks!

I just want to get them all painted, but I'm hoping for them all to be uniform soon.

Its been a long time coming, but the Dreadnought I got with the AoBR boxed set has finally got some paint on it!

I Space Wolfed it up a bit, I'm gutted that the Space Wolf Codex doesn't allow you to arm your dreads with a Hunter Killer missile, but I'm keeping it on the shoulder for coolness' sake.

Next update should have armour and metal paint on it!

Well, the armour is painted and washed black. Next task is to drybrush shadow grey on the edges, and then extreme highlight the edging with space wolves grey. That should give it plenty of definition! I do want to paint on some battle damage too. I know the claw looks a "bit" (read "a lot") over the top, but I'm planning a pose that might give me some leniancy. If it still looks rubbish, I'll just chop the blades off again.

Second picture is my next project, I just can't sit still long enough to get one project done!!! This is just some battlefield scenery I want to have painted. I had to spray paint the base, and I hate spraying just one thing, I have to have a batch of stuff to spray paint! Hopefully I wont be distraced for too long so I can get the dreadnought finished!

A very productive evening...its been a long time since I've had one of them!

Here's the dreadnought in its raw state. I'd consider him battle ready now, just need to add some rocks to the base and glue the ankles (they're currently blu-tacked!)

Please give me some constructive feedback, I'm hoping to extreme edge highlight, and maybe glaze over the red lights. Is there too many red dots on his front?
Does it look like chicken pox?

Also, I've put some transfers on his shoulder and shin, does anyone know how to remove the 'shine' from waterslide transfers? Do you coat it with matt varnish/purity seal?

Let me know, thanks in advance for your comments...

Well, to change direction entirely here are some of my Ork reinforcements!!!

With the arrival of the new plastic Kan set, I had to get some of the old metal ones for old times sake.

Here they are!! I'm loving the way the plastic ones fit together, very versatile. The only criticism I'd make is that you only get one of each ranged weapon. Which is great if you want a diversified squad, but awful if you want all your kans with missile launchas!!!

Here's an all plastic Rune Priest I've just made. He's going to debut at the Q-con tournament next week. I call him the Night Runner. Let me know what you think, sorry if the pics don't do justice to the conversion. His left arm alone is made up of 6 different pieces (not including the 4 pieces for the shoulder guard!) Its been a lot of fun building up a character model out of all plastic pieces. Now for the painting!!

Well folks, I had a great tournament with my space wolves, and I got my Rune Priest Painted. I'm still not sure about the name 'Night Runner', its the name of a different wolf lord I think, whereas I want this dude to be a part of Ragnars great company. In other news, I'm painting some tyrannic veterans up as crimson fists. I've removed all the U smurf icons, all apart from the tyrannic hunters badge.

Its quite a beast, so I'm thinking of greenstuffing over it and making it an ork head with a sword through it? Does anyone think this is possible? Heres one of GW's pics of these awesome models, my pics are rubbish.
