I was really taken with Wargames Factory's Numidian light infantry miniatures, and so I decided to try to build an entire army out of them.
My only problem? I just play Warhammer Fantasy Battles, not WAB, so I decided to see if I could do an "alternative" Empire army instead. It'll end up being a blackpowder-free army since Numidians existed several centuries before firearms were utilized.
For fluff, I'm just thinking the army could be a tribe of desert nomads that eke out an existence in the region of the Tomb Kings.
Anyways, here's the first four, done to make sure the color scheme looked right. (pics are also located in the gallery)

I really like alternative armies. This looks very promising. Do they have some magic characters in the works?
The spearman on the left looks like he's trying to stab his mate with the bow... accidentally. ("I didn't see him there") Their bases look a bit lush for desert nomads, too.

Great idea! These are really looking nicely painted as well. How are you planning to do knights and greatswords and so on?

Excellent work! Very realistic. I'm looking forward to seeing how you handle heavier troops.

I have to say I'm impressed by the freehand on those Shields!

More javelin throwers. Thanks for the compliments on the freehand work. I'm wondering if I can do unique shields for all of them.

Painting wise I like work you did and would love to see an army of this. In GW sense though couldn't you just idk use some parts from them into some of their models as they fit nicely(I have used the arms and stuff). As a historical gamer I personally just don't dig using historicals in fantasy games. Love the work though and look forward to seeing it as an army.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

I've decided I'm not going to stress about how I'm going to make a viable Empire army using these guys right now. The simple fact is I'm enjoying assembling and painting them, and my goal is to have a good-looking quasi-Numidian army by the time I'm done.
Also, at the rate I paint these guys, it'll be months before I'm done with the light infantry, so there's plenty of time to figure out stuff out later.
As an aside, I find your avatar very compelling, Empchild.

Looking very realistic, a nice change from regular empire with all the frilly shirts.
As for a viable empire army: The village idiot (TVI) may be just the thing for you; it implies little to no warmachines and is solidly based on infantry.

It's been a while since I added to the army, but I'm back in the groove.
These guys will stand in as Empire archers.
These guys will be Empire huntsmen.
