Terminator with Assault Cannon
|
I was talking to a friend the other day and realized that there's no clear place for threads discussing tournament results-- some have been in News/Rumors, others in Battle Reports, and so on. In the interest of helping people understand what's currently going on in the competitive 40k metagame, this thread will present a compilation of 40k tournament results as they come in. Ideally, it will deal only with large events/GTs, and not smaller store events or RTTs. This thread is focused on competitive play, so most information will relate to battle scores and less will deal with soft scores. Feel free to submit results, either by replying here or by PMing me, and I will edit them into the initial post. If a mod would sticky this thread, it would be much appreciated.

Great idea. A bit of a surprise that there were no Chaos Armies at the Toywiz Conflict.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

Yeah, I'm not sure what was going on at that event. No Chaos or Space Wolves seems very unusual, at least given the metagame that I tend to see.

Awesome Idea Fetter. I like it. Hope every major event is put up. would be very interesting over the course of the year. And we'll have another addition for this after valentines day weekend since there is an indy gt even scheduled for the 13-14 here in Los Angeles.

Sarigar wrote:Great idea. A bit of a surprise that there were no Chaos Armies at the Toywiz Conflict. They misreported one CSM list as Daemons. Pete DeFlorio played Chaos Space Marines, not Chaos Daemons. It should also be noted, perhaps, that Alex Fennell's IG list included 182 Guardsmen and 0 Vehicles and received the full 90/90 available battle points. I think it would be very useful to the 40K community to collect the exact army lists that perform well at these events, not just which armies. Also, for the purposes of the GW invitational, the invites go to First and Second overall, not Best General (2nd overal battle points). I'm surprised that with no comp score there was only one Daemon player in Seattle.

I think I'm sticking to major events and GTs for this, both to keep most results on the same "level" as one another and to make it easier for me to keep everything up to date. Thanks for your interest!

Probably me.
Thanks for the link! I'm having trouble determining what exactly went on at this event, as some people appear to be listed with negative victory points. What system was used to determine this? Also, was this a major event? I haven't heard of it before, though I'm unfamiliar with UK events as a whole.

Might be interesting to list what percentage of the total score soft scores count for. Different levels of soft scores change the armies that are at the event.

Army Breakdowns are up for the Broadside at:

Says 2009 but it's this year. The missing army in the top should be Eldar i'm pretty sure. Otherwise it looks like it's all there.

Another good thread, I gotta come to Dakka more often.
Bryce won Gottacon I've known him for years. Nik didn't win but he's been doing well in Vancity, though Orks won the last tournament here I entered, which didn't feature Nik or Doc or a lot of regulars.
We're all gearing up for Astronomi-con Vancouver though Doc in particular travels to a lot of out of town tournies, he went to Seattle, Victoria, and now Chicago.
I never thought about trying to win the tournament overall, but I'm really looking forward to Astro, I think I have a pretty good list, which is different enough for me, though my HQ is far from optimal. I'm a big fan of oddball units and choices. Anyway I do well in painting and sportsmanship so if I could win 4 or 5 games I could be a contender and lately I seem to be winning more than losing in tournaments.
Keep up the good work.
