I'm debating magnetizing the arms of my Venomthrope simply because I think that if I take him places for a game, his arms will break off and that would suck a lot... but I'd be using up like 10 magnets on JUST that medium-model.

I would just suggest to pin them. hat would help with keeping them in place and you wouldn't waste ten magnets but 2 inches of paper clip.

The arms are poorly suited for magnetization.

You might be able to use a 1/8" magnet, but I don't think it has enough holding power to keep the arms from drooping.

If you wanted to you could avoid the size problem and convert them so they trailed along the base or something.
Quite a lot of fiddly work with all those arms but you'd have a cool looking unique Venomthrope.
My 2 cents.

I think the general concept of combat is that you don't wait for the enemy's permission to attack him.

Ooh, I do like that idea... thank you!
I definitely think I'll be doing this. :'D

Oh...I was going to suggest just putting it in some packing foam. After all, magnets are really only useful if you want to change the armament...and..(cough, cough)...well...there's not much to change, is there? But a conversion is always fun.

Ugh, it was a nightmare gluing those arms on... doesn't help that my super glue doesn't seem to be so super anymore...

If you decide, to convert them to trail, I'd recommend using boiling water to heat the metal so it bends easier.

Worked really well for my buddies hive tyrant

I do like the boiling water idea, that would be useful.. if I get too lazy though, I might just use green stuff XD;;

I have a Venomthrope and face the same problem.

I was thinking of pinning them with long pins which hopefully would hold the arms in by friction.

If that doesn't work I will cement them in place and use pieces of foam rubber to pack it for transport.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

I've built a more, 'relaxed' Venomthrope.
It was pretty easy to bend the wibblers into position and make a quick cut, bend and fill to the feeder tendrils.
Imo he looks a bit more in line with the FW Malanthrope and less like a party blower now and as an added bonus he ought to travel pretty well too!

Hope it helps...

ahh, that is beautiful. did you use anything to bend the arms, or did you just do it freely without the use of heat & such?

Nope, just pure brute force.

I did have to use some pliers to get the feeder tendrils to bend around after I had cut them but the arms bent really freely.

Glad you like it.
