Question is: should we be prepared for a 4+ week release for the Orks?
Someone mentioned a long Ork release that could bring us to some Apocalypse release at the end of the month. Do we have any info about that?
I haven't followed very well the releases since early 2014, with GW new schedule ... is this something they have done so far (Wood Elves, Astra Militarum, ...)?

There was an ancient rumour, I think I heard it in december or something, that there'd be a large Armageddon-themed update in late summer or fall. Rumour was there would be 5 books. Codex orks, Codex IG (so you see, it's not dead-accurate) salamanders supplement, Steel legion supplement (wouldn't that be just the regular FW iron-fist-list?) and some sort of mission book, warzone armageddon or somesuch.

As you can see, some of it is allready wrong (IG got theirs allready), but maybe that was some sort of early concept for the whole thing. I for one could do with a freebooterz or blood axes-supplement. GW tries to channel a bit of the oldschool memories, bringing back ancient stuff - knights, that redone SM Captain, orks becoming visually more ridiculous. Maybe they give us orks something nice in the end?

GAHHHH need the codexxxxx info already so I can start working on lists.

I'm doing a bad guyz army. Basically a mish mash of bad guyz rolled into one.

Soviets, Ottomans, Wermacht, Punkers, Pirates

Perhaps thematically sorted into detachments.

Soviet & desert dogs detachment
Ottomans & German detachment
Punk & Pirate detachment

Then I can do a display board of the detachments all FIGHTING EACH OTHER

The flash gitz are certainly going into the army.
The are the ULTIMATE BAD ASSES

There’s nothing stopping you from doing this kind of thing in the new edition of course, Orks are resourceful, but if Looted Vehicles really are going to the scrap heap what will you use your looted vehicles as?

... And here I was hoping for the opposite: Real looted vehicles. Like taking vehicles from other codexes and simply add a random side effect to it each turn.... Ha well...fits with my sig.

Meh. No one ever used them anyway. They were rubbish and you were much better off using things as count as. I a way it's a good thing. Less arguments over WYSIWYG with some more picky players about using a looted rhino as a trukk.

Well, the 3rd edition Codex let Ork players chose to field IG or SM tanks, that was pretty cool at that time.
I remember my LR dealing heavy damage. Now I've got three Thunderers I can't play with the new rules, yipeee...

"Hearing on the grapevine" that looted vehicles "might be going" from the new codex doesn't inspire a whole lot of believability. I'd say wait and see before declaring doom and gloom.

Well, remember that GW has spent two years adding things like Allies, Formations and Unbound lists. So actually, they would tell you that you can now use as many looted vehicles as you want: they simply come from allies (IG tanks deployed 12" away, not that hard to do with a mechlist) or as part of your 11 SAG unbound list. No worries.

I think that we will all have to get used to the idea that in-codex alternative options (FOC-swaps, back-of-book-lists, etc) are now replaced with carte blanche to take whatever you want. Do you want a company of Orks who just pilfered an entire IG depot? Then use unbound, get in loads of IG tanks, add some Flash Gits and Lootas, go wild. Want to use Boarboyz and feral stuff? Then use Thunderwolf Cavalry rules in your unbound list.

Now, you might not like having to go out-of-codex in this way - I think that Ork players in general tend to obsess over using only Orks in a way that Imperial players don't - but I'm not trying to tell you that this is a good thing, or a bad thing, or whatever. All that I am saying is that this is what GW want us to do, and you should expect everything in the rules system to now reflect that fact.

Also Lootas actually used looted imperial weapons such as missile launchers, autocannons and Lascannons.

Can remember the rules for Looted Sniper Rifles. The rules for imperial sniper rifles at the time was they hit on 2+. But when an Ork looted it the Ork would hit on a 4+.

Isn't there a looted wagon option in at least one IA? Kastra Novem has load of irk stuff, but I think it was in the 3rd IA, the one with Xenos.

Just use that if you absolutely need to do it. Or just use the looted wagons as battle wagons.

Painted armies:

Orks: 11000 points
Marines: 9500 points
Khorne Marines: 2500 points
Khorne Demons: 1500 points

Trukks had a very specific model, so I'm not sure how WYSIWYG gets involved there. Looted Wagons didn't, and so people went crazy. I actually did run some occasionally. Boom Gun + 'Ard Case + Couple Big Shootas to try to save the Boom Gun. Greatest choice? Certainly not. Fun to use? Who doesn't love big blasts?

I used Looted Wagons occasionally. They were really fun units. Were they super awesome? No. But they were OK. I have a converted but un-painted Looted Wagon that I'd been meaning to get back to. I had actually HOPED that in the new Codex GW would reduce the cost of the Boom Gun by 10-20 points so that Looted Wagons were a bit more viable.

Hearing that it might be going the way of the Myscetic Spore are really disappointing. I hope it's not true.

Aren't those offishul FW models?

edit: There's a 6th ed. 40k update for Dread Mob on FW site, that includes Big Trakks (including flakk option), Mega Dreads, Warkoptas, Grot Tanks and Mekboy Junkas. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/d/Dred_Mob.pdf - I assume you can use it as an allied list. Of course you could lawyer it that's it's "for 6th and not 7th", but..

Also mentions Stompa/Mek Stompa as LoW if primary detachment is C:Orks or Dredd Mob. Other LoW options are Squiggoth, Kill Tanks or Battle Fortress.

I'm guessing he means "officialize" in the "list them in the actual codex" sense.

I'm hoping the Stompa makes it into the codex, as it'll be much easier to field one that way, if I ever choose to pick one up.

NOOOOO I have so many Looted Wagons...

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

Agreed. If we can't have proper lootin' rules, it's better to have none at all than making us shoehorn everything from a Land Speeder to a Land Raider into one 11/11/10 unit entry.

If looted wagons are out the window, then my looted wagons suddently become looted trucks. Putting a mast on it (like several of my other vehicles), and adding it to my pirate fleet

However, I do hope we keep looted wagons.
