These are made from Dark Elf Cold One bodies, with Black Orc torsos, arms and heads. I was thinking of putting on the dinosaur heads from the Cold Ones, but it would probably take too much effort.

Earlier, work in progress pic:

Don't know what colour scheme I'm going to do on them though.

That actually looks surprisingly good... Very clever conversion.

Only suggestion would be to swap the straight horns on the sides of the helmets for curled ram horns.

Zoomed in a bit.

I'm thinking of doing the regular Dragon Ogre colours (green body), with probably aged bronze looking weapons to show the ancientness of them.

Im surprised you went with black orks instead of ogres, they look good though!

Pretty impressive. Maybe ogre heads would have worked better than the Black Orc helmets, but otherwise an amazing conversion. Expect to see it copied!

Very cool. One of the few clean conversions out there (that's an exaggeration).

Ah!

So awesome, yet too far away and not enough detail to see what's what in there!

Closer pics and a breakdown of "how to". please!

Good work , but I didn´t like them with Orc heads , maybe if U have some ogre bulls heads in U´r bit-box ...

And green bodies and verdigris armour maybe ... ?

What colours do U have on U´r Chaos Warrior army ? Go with that !!

Unskul ...

They look pretty good. I agree that perhaps modifying the heads would make them look more distinct from orcs, but they look nice as they are too.

To make the Orc bodies fit, you have to cut the bottom of them since it sticks out a bit. I used a saw for this.

Although there's a lot of cutting involved in that step, it does mean you can more or less shape it to fit exactly on the Cold One neck, minimalising my need for GS there.

The saddle, I cut around and sculpted on armoured plates with GS / milliput.

I'll get more WIP pics later, when I'm able to.

Ogre torsos would have a) been way too big to fit on cold one bodies and b) require way too much cutting, seeing as the torso is attached to the legs.

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

Closeups will be difficult as all I have access to is a crappy cellphone camera currently.

I did paint them though

Here is a closeup (as good as I can get with my cellphone camera):

Cut the parts of the saddle and neckbrace that stick out, then use Green Stuff or Milliput to fill in the gaps and mould a sort of armour plate.

---

The black orc body is the first part, it needs to be cut:

If there's any more details on it you want me to go over, just ask.

This is really nice, I like it a lot.
I was going to go down the route of old Cold Ones and Ogre Bulls.

I like this though, there's potential there.

More than anything else I have ever seen, THIS make me what to put a Chaos army together. That is a brilliant conversion, and they are very nicely painted too!

Hmmm. Perhaps I could put some together and use them as proxy Cold One Knights...

Yeah, it's the conversion potential that makes the army shine. Things like Disc Riders, which I made from other models (and is a use for some of those on-foot figures that you have more than enough of).

Originally, I got WoC as a side army for something different to Wood Elves, and the army grew and grew!

You can definitely see a lot more detail in those pics! I agree that it might be cool to see this exact same conversion done, but with a head swap. That'd be easy enough since the head is a separate piece

Brilliant work!

Inside that little light in your refridgerator

Quality conversions, and a stunning paint job. It would be cool to see a Shaggoth done like this.

Slightly off-topic, but I also see a bass! What can you play?

I'm teaching myself to play at the moment, and i'm not great. I can play Smells Like Teen Spirit, but not much else.

I don't know what I'd use as a base for a Shaggoth. I don't think a Steg would work, for example and most Dragons are too airborne. Then comes the issue of a torse.

If I were to make one, I might make a shot as Kholek, since he doesn't have an official model and can make it much bigger (and the GW Shaggoth is a reasonable sculpt anyway for a regular shaggoth).

As for the Bass, it's a Tanglewood P-Bass copy, I haven't played it for a while though. I could play the entire bass part of 'A View to a Kill' (James Bond music from the film of the same name) a while ago, but have probably forgotten, and some other songs I've forgotton.

For the Shaggoth, why not decapitate a Dark Elf War Hydra (Trust me, it won't grow its heads back) and attach the torso of a Giant?
