um... my computer?

I hate bare skin. I don’t know why. Especially keeping with Raven Guard fluff. You know. They lack the organ that produces the waxy skin that protects against extreme heat/cold, blah, blah, blah. So here's the plan. I want to model all my scouts with some type of helmet or head covering. I just am drawing a blank. I thought about a motorcycle style helmet, but that’s too easy. Want something a little more creative. Any help you guys (and gals) can give would be much appreciated.

(btw, IG helmets don’t fit. I already tried. They look weird even if cut to fit. They're noticeably smaller.)

i have seen some pics where people have helemts from Adeptus Arbites models for their scouts. The look kind of like riot helmets with visors on, and they're the right size.

I have a nasty feeling you can only get them from Forge World though...i'll try to find pics and links.

EDIT - Found the pic but can't seem to find them on froge world! Grrrr.

They will be too small.

Elysians are true scale humans, put em next to a cadian and they look like children.

Try some of these?

The Cadian heads would be fine for Carapace-armoured guard, but they really don't say 'Space Marine Scout' to me...

I remember seeing some converted a while back with SoB helmets... that takes a bit of work, though.

I'm wondering if trimming down a regular Marine helmet might work. Hmm... might have to give that a go and see if I can make it work.

If you're using Cadian head bits with the plastic SM Scout body, you can file off the aquila on the helmet and glue on the night-vision goggles that the Scouts use so ubiquitiously. This should give them a more appealing look.

i actually really like the look of scouts with standard marine helmets...
it looks good, and fits in with the fluff for the Space Wolves, but i don't see why you couldn't use 'em for RG...

I just used the gw kasrkin models. With a little greenstuff, it's easy to make the lasguns into sniper rifles.

in the fluff for the Wolves, the scouts are seasoned veteran marines, so would have the full Black Carapace, and all the rest of the implants and training to interact with the full Autosenses in the helmet...

On the one hand, this is entirely correct.

On the other hand, I personally feel the Space Wovles feel... wrong with helmets. After all, if your pack has helmets on and you go and deal the finishing blow to a Tyranid Prime, how is the Wolf Lord gonna know who to ascend to the Wolf Guard during the after-party boozefest? You aren't gonna expect him to pay attention to insignificant little things like squad markings, are you?

This is the reason that none of my Wolve wear helmets, with the sole exception of the Lone Wolf - and that's just because it's traditional (in the Great Company of Brion Thunderclaw) that the lone survivor of a pack doesn't show their face until they have earned their honour.

You could try wrapping a greenstuff shemagh around their heads.

They also tend to not wear helmets, because their own enhanced senses are actually superior to those built into the armour...

That, and it would mess with their 'do...

i reckon pig iron is the way to go. nice slection of head cheap and fit on most GW models with minimal work

also means you can make lots! show pics when your done/building

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal.

um... my computer?

Fluff wise, its not that I just want them to have helms, but they need to be completely enclosed. It fits with the theme and bases (ice planet).

Im going to play around a bit this weekend. I kind of like the idea of shaving down a regular SM helmet. Make it a little simpler to fit with the scout armour instead of the bulkier tactical. Thanks for the tips everyone. If you have anything else, please let me know.

That is definatley plausible. Lots of space marine chapters are starting to suffer mutation. It is possible some don't have that multi-lung.

Update on the helmet search. I tried to shave the regular SM helmets down to fit. It just doesnt look right. The size and shear bulk of it doesnt fit the "scout" theme. Messed around with some IG bits I had around and couldnt really find anything either. I think Im going with pig iron on this one. They look great in picture. Cross your fingers that they are the right scale to work. When I get up and running Ill post.

Which heads for Pig Iron are you going for? I brought the system trooper heads I while back size wise the are fine but because they have a very angular shape they don't fit onto normal marines because of the collar. Not sure how they'll work with scouts though.
