Hey I have been working on a side project for about a week and would like some input. I don't know how many other ork players like myself have waaaay to many nobz lying around, but I am determined to make use of them. I'm not quite done yet but here is what I have so far.

P.S. This is my first attempt at using plastic card and didn't know if any of you card-cutting veterans had any advice on how to make small bolts.

Rivets you can make pretty easily a number of ways. If you can find plastic dowels at a craft store just cut in small slices and glue in as rivets.

GW plastic banner poles (I always cut mine off, I hate banners on marines) can be shaved down to size and cut into rivets.

Wood or balsa dowels work too, they can just be harder to work with.

Music wire if you want to mess with that pain ....

Use a really light coat of glue so it doesn't goop out.

good luck, and they're coming along pretty decently so far!

This is looking cool. Really liking those hefty boots.

If you want square bolts take a thin (width wise) strip of plasticard and cut up tiny bits. The trick with this is to be very exact about keeping the same distance apart each time, and also to place the bit that you are cutting on a thin bit of blu-tac to stop it flying off into the abyss as you cut it off. Also works nicely when chopping dowel bits up as well. If cutting square ones out of strip I find it helps to place the one you have just cut above the one you are about to cut and use it as a guide. This is made especially easy by the blu-tac technique as it will hold it in place.

Thanks for the feedback!

Because the plastic card I have comes in a large grid pattern on the back side, it makes it fairly easy to cut everything the same so I might just cut a hexagon out of each little square. The only issue I can see is that I want to put a small dot of green stuff in the middle of each cut out and cut the dot to give the appearance of a screw, but the green stuff is soooo tacky that it is hard to work with. Any ideas?

Vaseline, or any vegetable cooking oil on your tools makes the greenstuff come loose easily.

And your ork looks awesome!

Most putties out there are toxic, even if it says "non toxic" you still shouldn't lick your fingers post-handling it... unless you lick once before actually doing it.

That said, I do the same but with a open bowl to dip my fingers into.

Ok so fun to play with but not to eat. Got it. I'll be trying this out soon and I should have it finished in the next couple days so I should have a post up by then. If there are any more comments, suggestions or criticisms I'd love to hear em!

Well, the last thing you need to do is ork it up. just dent it up a little maybe, and put some metal crap and jagged things in there. Thats definitely better than i could do.
The only thing i dont like is that the rokkit launcher is waaaay too big. There are much easier and smaller ways to make kombi weapons.

It does look better then the blister ones that you get. I enjoy it a lot.

Very impressive. I like how the armour on his right arm looks like a loose cuff from a stylish dress shirt, as if he was a male stripper :-)

Jollydevil: There is no such thing as "too big" when it comes to dakka. Of course he should carry a huge gun to show that he is da boss.

For the next one you should try using rivets insead of bolts. Before gluing each piece on grab a small sharp screwdriver and a hammer and just make little indents.

I do not think the gun is too big how can there be such a thing?

It turned out amazing though.

Its towering over his structure. How can he even hold that thing?

How can guard hold plasma guns or marines hold heavy bolters or one hand bolters or terminators hold autocannons/flamers/assult cannons/cyclone missle launchers.

Marines are a different story. Theyre genetically altered with superhuman strength. Terminators have the autocannon built into their armor, as for the heavy bolters and such that IG hold, Theyre just slow.
Besides, this missile launcher is like 1.5x the size of a heavy bolter, and he holding it with one hand...

So termi armor with a space marine inside can hold vast amounts of weight but a similar strength ork in mega armor cannot hold one?

Thats gotta be the least orky thing I've ever heard. The Rokkit it launcher is over the top big and flashy, just like any self respecting MegaNob would want. Where'd ya get it? It doesn't look scratch built.

Very nice btw...wondering myself what to do with the 10 generic AoBR Nobz I got.

termi armor is totally different than orky mega armor. So to answer your question, yes. If you look closely at ork mega armor, youll see that its really mostly a lot of metal plates strapped onto the nob. Termi armor consists of a full battle armor suit, and the metal arms allow for support to hold the weapons.

If only the ork codex somehow differed from your opinion...
"...mega armor is comprised of extremely thick metal plates welded onto a piston driven exoskeleton. It incorporates several engines and sub-motors that give the wearer tremendous strength."
The rokkit is even directly connected by a large supporting piston to the armor itself. Get over it.

Model looks fantastic, and the launcha is perfectly sized.

Yea what GorkaMorka said. Infact ALOT of Ork vehicles/weapons were inspired from having contact with Imperial weapons/vehicles. Mega Nob armor is from seeing Terminators, Ork stompas and such from seeing titans, and so on. And saying its too big for an Ork, is laughable.

He is obviously holding the gun...

By the way, what kind of plastic did you use to make the armor?

pic 3 of the finished model shows the rokkit launcher(lawn chair?) connected to the servo thingy on the back of the armor. the white plastic is called plasticard, also called sheet styrene in some parts of the world.

I think that (entirely appropriately sized) rokkit set is from the new deffdread. Is that right?
