Anyway I was wondering if there's anyone out there who would want to take up a chaos army with me.



Thats the colour scheme. We could share a blog were we update the army (just for fun) possibly even make a codex with background stories charcters and so on?

I know this is a strange question but I think it could be a fun project

Im not sure how it will pan out, but Ill see about getting one painted up. I only say that because the new Chaos codex and I have a hot/cold relationship where it leads me into thinking its good and then lets me down time and time again haha.

Colors look interesting, what did you have in mind for the shoulderpad trim, gold or something else? Also, do you have a symbol for the shoulder pad? I like working on my freehand symbol/writing work on these things...

I actually just finished my first marine, I just need to get him based. I like the color scheme it seems simple, but also takes a bit of effort to get things to look good.

Ok, this is the first finished model in those colors. Sorry the quality might be poor, I only have my camera phone to use at the moment, but here it is....

I used Chaos Black for the whole model, drybrushed Fortress Gray for the highlights, Mechrite Red for the shoulder pads, glove, leg and eyes, followed up with Blood Red on same areas. I used chainmail for all silver trim, Dwarven Bronze for the shoulder pad and Bolter trim, followed up with Burnished Gold on same areas. Last I used Dheneb Stone on the horns and the other few spikey areas. When all this was done I used Ogryn Flesh wash on the whole figure, let it dry, based it to a snowy effect to help bring out some of the darker colors (like black haha) and painted the base with Adeptus Battle Gray (or whichever it's called).

Ive got 4 more marines lined up to be reassembled and then painted in these colors, followed up by a Chaos Lord w/ Mark of Tzeentch that Ive been wanting to build.

I really like the winged model.

I am actually thinking of using the new blood angels mini coming out (dude with black wings) and chaosing him up a bit and making him my Daemon Prince.

My warband is after all the "Angels oF Ecstasy" so i think its fitting.

Very cool. I was actually thinking about useing those same set of wings for my sorc but wasnt sure if they would be to big or not but they look just about perfect. Could you show the back so I can see how you hooked them up.

Ill see if I can get a back shot yea, but I just centered them and put the backpack over the center to hide the gap.

Kind of a strange request...I'd be careful if I were you guys, in case he asks everyone to send in their models for a "group shot".

I mean they don't even have a name, a symbol, fluff...nothing. Just someone saying "Let's do a Chaos army together! Paint them like this!"

Im pretty sure the idea is to just get a bunch of people to paint some figures in these colors. Not to literally send him the figures, if that's what you thought. Also, who cares if they dont have a symbol? Its just for fun, it is a game afterall....

Here's some low quality shots of my newly dubbed "Angel of Tzeentch" Chaos Lord. Ill see about getting some better ones up as I progress.

I had to do some readjustment work on the wings and backpack. I re-bent the serpent heads on the backpack back and then up, and got the wings a little more centered.

Oh, I almost forgot a shot from the back, let me get one up for you who asked.

Thanks for the comment! Im really surprised no one really shares my opinion that a Chaos Lord w/ Mark of Tzeentch and a Daemon Weapon (Death Screamer) is very much worthwhile.

I mean, think about it. You get all the stats and such of a Lord, plus you get your Invulnerable Save bumped to 4++, his Daemon Weapon is the real kicker though.

Not a slouch at 24", S4 is still decent and AP3 rocks. You can shoot a D6 shots (barring a roll of 1, which means no shots and an Invulnerable Save roll), and you'll hit on 2's!
The other thing is that, you still get the D6 attacks in close combat (again, barring a roll of a 1, which means no attacks and another Invulnerable Save roll).

Consider, with the wings, moving into charge range, shooting the Death Screamer, and then charging in with another D6 power weapon attacks (again again, barring those rolls of 1). He could really wreck a squad, especially if they are not assault based.

I also put Melta Bombs on him, that way, with the wings, I can get into position to pop a tank if need arises.

Anyways, there ya go, hahaha

Just to slightly sink you'r boat, but you don't get any saves of any kind against a self inflicting daemon weapon, check it in your codex.

But anyways, it's a nice model and I know loads of people who use that set up for a Lord. I also like the paint scheme idea, may paint up my Chosen like that

Better re-read your codex man, it says (quoted) "The model may not make any attacks in this round and suffers one wound with no ARMOR saves allowed."

Doesnt say anything about not using Invulnerable Saves.

Im not a big fan of the gold trim up top and the silver trim down below. I think it needs to be all one way or the other.

It's similar to the Black Legion colors, and no one complains about thooooose!

Haha. I was a little skeptical myself, but if you were to paint one to see it for yourself (and of course Id recommend the above mentioned paint guide by me, haha), it doesnt look bad at all.
