Here are some WIP pictures of the GUO I'm working on for my Nurgle Daemons army. Like most of my projects I'm going for a more realistic scheme than the GW standard. Let me know what you think!

The gloss varnish is not completely dry yet, Resulting in the bluish fluid you see on his back. The base isn't complete yet either as I plan on adding some leaves that I've ordered from Skullcrafts. Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures. Once he's totally dry and I get some time, I'll take some proper pictures and post them.

Looks nice but the colour scheme doesn't really suggest decay to me it seems to alive with all that bright red blood and the skin looks to um healthy. maybe darken some of the blood up a bit so that its more the colour of old dried blood and scabs also maybe some patchiness to the areas of skin around the wounds so it looks kinda dead.

I appreciate your comments about the blood. I'm still working on a proper blood technique that gives me the results I'm looking for. I was going for more of a bloody mess then a rotting fleshbag. Here is the example I was working from (and how I'll paint my FW GUO when it arrives):

It looks pretty good, what about putting some purple into the red? that might help...if not well, I tried...but i still like it

Some yellow around where you have the blood could also do well to suggest an old decayed look.

You know how dead skin gets? All gross and kinda yellowy. I having a hard time describing it. Like yellow jondus or something

when i make blood i mix lich purple, blood red, and sometimes orange. it gives it a dark look and isnt really detailed but it is pretty good imo.

You're not playing the game like I play it...why aren't you playing the game like I play it?! O_O

I'll definately hit it with a thinned down purple wash to darken the ruptures and gouges. As I examine my example picture a little moer closely I certainly see hints of purple. Thanks for the suggestions.

my two cents for painting blood:

when your done and have all the blood painted you wand, put some armypainter on it.

Check the last pic of my lizards. http://www.coolminiornot.com/232914

red gore and a thin layer of armypainter applied.dont use mattvarnish after this step thou.

as you can see it will get a lot darker,so you got to keep that in mind when painting the blood ^_^

I like it very much! dying rather than dead is a nice change for nurgle daemons and I do believe you have pulled it off well.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the Army Painter product your referring to. Of their products I've only seen, and used, their spray paints.

Here's the latest GUO added to the Daemons army. I finished him late last night and varnished him today.

I love the sculpt. I think it gives even the FW GUO sculpt a run for its money, and it was half the price!

Excellent. I'm having a bit of trouble with my Nurgle daemons at the moment. Any chance you could share how you painted the skin tones on the two Great Unclean Ones? Any advice would be appreciated.
