History:
Discovery of Denov and the Primarch.
Around 50 years after Horus was discovered by the Emperor, the Crusade reached the wartorn system of Denov. After the first scout ships returned with tales of an advanced yet highly aristocratic people ruled by different Knight Orders the Emperor ordered peaceful contact to be made with the system's inhabitants.
As it turned out, these first overtures would last nearly 20 years, slowly indocrrinating the people to the idea of the Imperium. And then a major discovery brought the Emperor's attention to the system fully.
The Lord of the Knight Orders was none other than one of the Primarchs. Corennus, second of the Primarchs, had appeared in the system more than 200 years before, and had taken control of the warring factions among the people. Bringing the armies together into Knight Orders, he had overseen nearly a half century of peace and cultural growth.
Initial Missions in Great Crusade.
After Corennus was given command of his legion, renamed the Emperor's Knights, he left the world of Denov Prime, never to return. Entrusting its governance to the Knight Council he erected in his stead, he embarked on a number of conquests at the side of his brother Horus, and their father.
For nearly 10 years Horus and Corennus forged a spearhead into the galaxy, firm believers in order and the dominance of mankind.
But other forces were at play in the lives of the Second Primarch.
The Betrayal
Tyderion, the First Captain of the White Knights, and its Chapter Master in his primarch's stead, was unsettled by his Primarch's coming to the Legion. Before Denov Prime Tyderion had been in quasi-control of the entire legion, taking his orders directly from the Emperor, but now he had to answer to a new master, one who hadn't been in the legion throughout its first battles.
These feelings of betrayal and hurt lodged like a black shell in his mind, opening him up to suggestions from the gods of the warp. Secretly they communed with him. Khorne showing Tyderion a future with him at the head of his legion soaked in the blood of a million fallen enemies. Tzeentch whispering that if he could turn his Primarch to the chaos god's way he would be rewarded with the knowledge of a million minds. Slaanesh teasing his mind with unseen pleasures and enticements to his way.
After a time of tormented dreams, seeing the praise the Emperor heaped on his newfound son, and his own displacement in rank, Tyderion agreed to try to bring the Legion to the arms of Chaos.
Gathering the Captains he could trust, namely Mardus, Ophyx, Beridius and Sullito, he outlined his plan to take the legion back for themselves, and to strand their new primarch in the warp.
They agreed, and over the next few months slowly made sure their Orders were behind the idea. However, Tyderion's Order, that of the White Knights, was the Order closest to the Primarch, being the name bestowed by Corennus personally as a reminder of the orginal order of Denov, and as his Honour Company. This meant that the most fanatically loyal to the Primarch were to be found in Tyderion's company, and only very few of the veterans would side with their captain.

The Sundering
As the Imperial Fleet moved onwards in the galaxy the Second Legion's ships were positioned to strike at a system held by Ork xenos. The Legion's fleet of fifty ships was in position to bombard the outermost planet when Tyderion's treachery came to fruition.
A massive warp storm arose out of the realms of chaos and swallowed the ships of the fleet, flinging them through space to far beyond the reach of the Emperor, or any Imperial space craft.
Corennus, sensing the machinations of beings far beyond mortal ken, rounded on Tyderion, demanding an explanation.
In a round of cat and mouse, Tyderion challenged Corennus to leave the Imperium, to strike out on his own at the head of the legion. To carve his own empire as a demigod.
Corennus refused, stating that his honour came above all cosiderations, and to refute an oath made to such a person as the Emperor would be such a stain against it he could not think of it.
Tyderion then attacked his Primarch, shouting out for aid to the Chaos Gods, bringing his chainfist in to try to decapitate the astonished Corennus. Even as unnatural energies built up in Tyderion, giving him more strength and speed than he had ever believed possible, the Primarch's hidden psychic power lashed out.
A telekine of immeasurable strength, second only to the Emperor and Magnus, Corennus drew on his ability to smash Tyderion through the hull of the battleship, leaving him floating in space.
But Tyderion wasn't done. At a signal from his brother captains who had sided with him, the First Captain was teleported aboard one of the Company Cruisers, and those aboard the loyalist ships who had sided with the traitors fought to the launch bays and flew Stormbirds and any transport they could find to the traitor ships.
A fierce ship to ship battle between the fleet ships lit up the sector of space. Most of the smaller ships were lost in immolations of fire as the larger cruisers and grand cruisers brought their huge firepower to bear.
Eventually Tyderion's final betrayal came to pass. Hidden muintions in the loyalist fleet detonated. Before their crews could stop the first ones three ships blew up as their reactors were detonated.
Only the strength of the Primarch, seeking out with his mind and crushing the rest of the explosives, saved the rest of the fleet and the legion.
The Revenge of Corennus
The Second Legion, what remained of it, was in two minds as to what to do next. Some of the remaining captains argued that if their navigators could see far enough to returning to Imperial space that is what they should do. The traitors should be left for later.
Corennus disagreed. His years of growing up in a world where honour and chivalry defined so much of his outlook on the universe demanded that the traitors should pay.
"I can bring us to the Emperor" he declared "But what would we be returning as? Weak willed saps who were beaten by the ones we called brothers. We would not be fit to be called Astartes, and I, your Primarch, not fit to stand at my father's side. No. From this day forth we will chase our traitorous brothers, and we will rebuild this legion. When we return to the Imperium it will be a legion entire. A force so terrifying the Emperor;s enemies will long for the darkness to swallow them up. We are not now, but we shall be again, the Emperor's Knights!"
The Great Hunt.
Following the traitors into the madness of the warp, Corennus' loyal followers missed out on the events of the Great Crusade and the heresy.
Their chase led them to many chaos worlds, fightning not only their lost brothers, but also daemons, chaos followers, and unknown terrors.
For three thousand years the legion remained in the warp, only venturing out into the Imperium they had left behind to gather new recruits. At first this was done clandestinely. often with recourse to subterfuge as other loyalist legions, but soon the legion was able to draw from regular planets across the galaxy, healing the scars of their long war in the warp.
The Return of Tyderion.
For nearly five thousand years Tyderion and his traitor captains fought against his Primarch. Whole worlds fell to the First Captain, and many of the marines who fled to the Eye of Terror after the Heresy came into his armies.
But the glorious future the gods had shown him had not come to pass. Of his brother captains only three survived by the end. Sullito had been captured, along with the remains of his legion, and rumours were that he had repented and fought for Corennus once more. Mardus had fallen to chaos daemons on a nameless world.
And worst of all, the effect of the warp had a terrible price for Tyderion's men.
Although most started unaffected, the continual exposure to the ether sapped some of the marines' minds away, leaving them as nothing more than raving beserkers. But not the blood mad bezerkers of Khorne, simply mad killing machines. These held some semblance of their former selves when held in deep comatose state.
Eventually Tyderion and Corennus met once more. On a ravaged planet in the centre of a maddening warp storm the two battled.
Tyderion, with the strength of Chaos, stood up to Corennus' awesome power. But Corennus, who had ever viewed anger as a danger on the battlefield, finally allowed his emotions to boil over.
Those forces who watched the titanic battle would tell of Corennus picking Tyderion up with his mind and smashing him through a mountain. And of Tyderion pouring bolt after bolt of pure warp into the armour of his Primarch, burning it to the core.
Eventually, battered, and near naked, Tyderion was beaten, and captured.
Corennus decreed that he be placed in a cell on board his flagship. To await his judgement.
The Judgement of Corennus.
After Tyderion's capture the remaining traitors lost heart. Many clamored for forgiveness, and their pleas were heard. They too were put in cells, by their hundreds.
Some say their treatment was harsh. Cells holding one hundred marines, with no food or water for months on end.
The Primarch's reaction was a cold indication of his thoughts on this, "Those that are deserving of mercy will survive. Those that do not died many eons ago."
Eventually the survivors were let out, to be paraded in front of the Primarch and loyalist chapters of the legion.
Then to everyone's astonishment, Corennus pardoned them ALL.
"What is past is past. Those that fought against us will fight alongside us now. Their penance is the knowledge that they are forever traitoris, even though their bodies show no mark of this. They must earn our trust. Earn our respect. Earn the right to be called brother. And this will NOT be given easily"
But Corennus' final act shocked everyone.
Having spent years in isolation, with his Primarch visiting every day to comminue, interrogate, even torture him, Tyderion was a broken man. He had had every part of his soul shown to him by his Primarch, and in turn seen glimpses of the man he had chosen to betray.
On his body the mark of the eightfold star was branded into his chest, put there not by any iron brand, but by the Primarch's own power forcing the skin to heat and burn.
"This brand I give thee in thrice hated form. I dub thee traitoris extremis. From this day forth you will serve me, and in battle you will slay my enemies. For every one of my brothers you did murder you will live 10 years in servitude."
Corennus, at the end of the pardonning ceremony, brought forward Tyderion. Many were shouting for his execution. But the Primarch stepped down from his command pulpit, and slowly proceeded to dress the naked form of the traitor in the robes of First Captain and Chapter Master.
Many were outraged. Exthelion threatened to kill Tyderion there and then.
A look from the Primarch stopped him.
Questions were asked later at Corennus' merciful act.
His reply was simple.
"For five thousand years he thwarted me, tested me, bled me. How great shall our victories be with him at our side?"
The re-integration of the traitors into the Orders was not easy though.
The Reformation.
The legion had been decimated by the civil war. So much so that more than four of the orders boasted less than one hundred men. Others could barely muster one thousand.
Now that there was no reason to stay in the warp, Corennus allowed the fleet (what remained of it) to leave. Using their mobile fortress of the Victor Imperialis, an ancient xeno ship stranded in the warp for millenia before the legion had found and taken it, the Emperor's Knights once more returned to the Imperium.
Learning of the breakup of the legions, Corennus looked at his own forces, and decided that the Orders of 10000 men could no longer hold together. More mobile chapters of 1000 men each would form a better tactical force.
So the Legion was divided into 20 chapters, each autonomous to an extent, but bending to the will of the last secretly surviving Primarch....
1. White Knights
2. Redeemers
3. Star Lancers
4. Decimators
5. Silvermoons
6. Star Blades
7. Black Spears
8. Silver Spears
9. White Swords
10.Eagle Swords
11. Dragonhelms
12. Dark Stars
13. Solar Angels
14. Hellslayers
15. White Templars
16. Sons of Fire
17. Sun Dragons
18. Sons of Corennus
19 Unblooded
20 Praetorians.

Bit more info.
The second legion's records were deleted by order of the Emperor to stop the rest of the Primarchs from finding out about the Chaos Gods. Being so far from his son when the betrayal occurred, the Emperor could only watch psychically as the events unfolded. And he swore to try to protect the rest of his children from this happening again.
The legion operates within the Imperium, but not as part of it. Many worlds have tales of orange armoured Astartes bearing heraldic crests appearing suddenly to help their desperate fights against ork, tyranid, and Chaos.
The legion is less fanatic about fighting against Eldar and Tau, since they are viewed as possible allies by Corennus.
There will come a time when the second primarch reveals himself to the Astartes, and stands before the Emperor again, but until the gene curse of the Warp Madness has been eliminated from his men, and he sees an imperium fit to return to, the Emperor's Knights fight the Emperor's foes unseen.

The whole time I was reading this, I kept thinking "IT'S GONNA BE ANOTHER MARY SUE!!" But I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was fairly original and a good idea. With only a bit of mary-sueness, mostly how perfect and morally invincible Corennus is, as well as his psyker abilities being only worse than Magnus and the Emprah's.
I especially like how some of the chapters already exist in fluff, to a certain extent (White Templars) suggesting that they may have been sighted and recorded by imperial forces.

The reason I gave Corennus the Telekine ability was that (purportedly) the two missing Primarchs either had the ability of telekinesis or invisibility.
And my symbol for the chapter is a tilted Black Templar cross painted gold (seeing as they're Knights, and the Black Templars didn't exist when they were formed)

I know that :( Its all that Javis "the usurping jumped up mag editor" Jonsons doing. Woe to us that Andy "Warmaster" Chambers and Rick "The true Emperor" Priestley are all but a tail in the distant ages past. (Its the feeling i get when ever i look at any of the moden fluff that is just contradictory with "all" that has been before.)

Standing at the viewport, looking down at the receding planet below, the new Primarch of the Second Legion felt strangely alone.
For the past few months he had learned so many new things. His new father, the Emperor of Mankind, had shown him a small portion of his vision for the Imperium, and had impressed Corennus with his drive and zeal for a future with humanity at the fore of the galaxy.
The primarch frowned as he looked down on the black stain covering part of the Aaradic continent. Even now his homeworld was coming into the fold of the Imperium. Massive townsized machines were cutting into the natural beauty of the land, uncovering veins of metals and minerals and other things of apparent interest to the Imperium.
The planet of his childhood was gone. The planet he had helped forge in the fires of a vicious civil war was gone.
Corennus fought back an emotional growl and turned away from the view.
Resplendent in his new power armour, a shimmering gold suit that was as heavy as his old war chariot but moved as easily as a chainmail suit, he looked every inch the son of Humanity.
But even now he was dwarfed by the sheer presence of the person who strode into the viewing lounge.
"Have you taken your last look and said your farewells?"
The Emperor, he did not give any other name, claiming he had had so many none really were him any more, walked over his to his newfound son.
"It is never easy to part with something you love. But this is the sacrifice we make. This is what we must do to evolve."
Corennus looked up into the hard eyes of his father, looking over the patrician features so closely mirrored in his own visage.
"Father, your quest is great, and I have no doubt one day the rest of my brothers will be re-united. But I have a question..."
The Emperor looked down at Corennus with a half smile.
"Speak"
Corennus turned away, his back to the view of Denov Prime quickly falling away from them.
"You say we were taken from you. Scattered across the galaxy. In my youth I saw many knights ride out on long quests to avenge a wrong done to them in ages past. They were singularly driven, sometimes insanely so..."
"What is your question, my son?"
Corennus turned back to his father, his face set in determination.
"If I am to head this legion of yours, the 'Emperor's Knights'. If I am to be your 'Knight', I must know one thing. Is this crusade to benefit all, or to avenge your one terrible mistake of letting your sons be taken from you?"
The Emperor was silent. Surprised at his son's candour and questioning.
"The manner of your being taken from me, along with your brothers, is something I have felt keenly ever since I first discovered it. My plans for you all have been swept into disarray, and I will not deny some part of my plan for humanity is an atonement for what happeend to you all. But is this quest like one your knight's? No."
The Master of Mankind turned to the viewport, now filled with stars, and raised his arms.
"That is what this crusade is about Corennus. A myriad of worlds await salvation. How many lost colonies are out there? Under the yoke of xenos and corruption? You are an honourable man above all else my son. I have seen how you have restructured the Legion. Men of nobility and honour fill the higher ranks, as it was in your Knight Companies. There will soon come a time when honour in battle is called for. Are you ready to take the Crusade to free our lost people?"
Corennus felt pride burn into him as he thought of the Legion he now commanded. Tyderion, Captain of the First Order, strong and dependable. Scarro, Captain of the Eighth Order, a brutal yet honorable mass of a man.
Rufianus, Captain of the Second, drawn from the elite of the disbanded Knight Companies......
"I am your son. I am your Knight. Send me where you will" Corennus stated.
The Emperor smiled fully.
"First of all we must rendevous with the rest of the fleet. And there you will meet one who I think you will get among with famously."
Corennus raised his eyebrows.
"And who is that?"
"Your brother. Horus." Automatically Appended Next Post: Tyderion, his dark face shielded by his helmet, scowled as the training blade scored down his training suit.
Painted in the new colour of the First Order, the White Knights, any mark or scar was instantly visible.
And captains were meant to be gods of close combat, especially against lesser soldiers.
Pulling back, he swung his own training blade in a savage arc. The blade was merely a training weapon, but the weight of it still posed a danger to his opponent.
Veteran Sergeant Spartus, in his own suit of training armour, stepped into the blow, raising his blade to parry the unsubtle strike.
Behind the helmet Tyderion smiled cruelly. Reacting as only an Astartes could, he lashed out with a side kick, connecting against Spartus' ribs with a sickening crunch even the training armour couldn't fully soak up.
The wind went out of Spartus' lungs as he backed up desperately to try and recover, but Tyderion didn't let him.
Raining blow after blow with sword and fist and foot, Tyderion battered Spartus to the edge of the training arena.
Standing tall over the gasping form of the Veteran Sergeant Tyderion prepared himself for the final strike, raising his sword high, seemingly to bring it crashing down into Spartus; body.
Savage pride turned to mind numbing pain as Spartus' foot kicked out, straight between his Captain's legs.
Tyderion bit back a cry and tried to focus, even as Spartus followed up with another kick. His vision swam, and he dimly saw the Sergeant get to his feet and pick up his sword.
"Good training session sir" Spartus said through mouthfuls of blood."
Tyderion nodded, his body numbing the pain but not his fury at himself for leaving himself open like that.
"Next time i'll have you on the floor in less than three minutes sergeant" he managed.
"I look forward to it sir" Spartus replied, pressing his fist to his chest in salute before limping away.
Calus Tyderion, Captain of the First Order, the White Knights, shook his head to clear the last of the pain. Looking up at the viewing galleries he scowled as he saw the form of a retreating figure.
The Primarch.
He had watched the session, and seen Tyderion humiliated.
Hot anger flowed through the Captain.
'Things were better before we got that bloody signal' he thought to himself, 'I'd like to see him get in the bloody arena'

Thank you mongo. And I love the Space Wolves.
I'll add more to this as I come up with it (and have time to write it).
Please bare in mind I hardly ever do "linear" posts. One story will probably not carry on from the previous or lead into the next. Instead I do "snapshots" of the Second Legion battles.
Normally after they've emerged from the Civil War, but I may do some during.

The flagship of Horus Lupercal dwarfed the cruiser Corennus and their father had been travelling on.
Corennus had stared in amazement as he had taken in the sight of the immense battle barge.
The Emperor had stood with him and laughed.
"I told you Horus likes to make a good first impression. His Luna Wolves will be sizing you up the second you step off the shuttle. I'm sure you'll be quite the talk of the fleet."
Corennus had smiled at that comment.
"At home we hunted wolves. By fourteen I'd killed five alpha males. Wolves don't frighten me father."
The Emperor had smiled and nodded, "Horus is going to love and hate you all at the same time!"
As the shuttle ramp lowered the stamp of the Luna Wolves honour guard could be heard throughout the massive hangar. Their armour, a greyish white, reflected the many glow lamps set around the walls, casting eerie shadows and flickering light across their polished plate.
Out of the shuttle first came the Emperor's Knights Honour Guard, consisting of one selected marine from each of the Ten Orders' First Companies.
Resplendent in their Honour Guard battle plate, a gold and cream combination that seemed to echo the look of the Custodes the Emperor travelled with, they marched down the ramp to stand passively facing their brother marines of the Luna Wolves.
Then came the Captains of the Orders. Each in their most ornate armour, bearing the colour of their Order intricately worked into their breastplates, gauntlets, backpacks and helms.
Standing behind the Honour Guard, Tyderion seemed like a vast mountain in his Terminator armour, the white metal glinting in the soft lighting of the hangar. Even though his armour was free of weapons, his chainfist had not been fitted on for this occasion, his aura seemed to radiate cold hostility.
Across the hangar the Captains of the Luna Wolves looked over their brother Captains, sizing them up.
And in front of them, standing impassively, stood the Primarch of the XVI legion, Horus himself.
The glowlamps started to glow brighter as the two final figures appeared at the top of the shuttle ramp. Both in gold armour, but one undeniably grander than the other.
As they started to descend a tangible air of awe came over the Luna Wolves.
For years they had battled with Horus as their primarch and father, and seen the Emperor march alongside them. But they had never seen another Primarch, another of the Emperor's lost sons.
The Emperor's Knights parted to let the Emperor and Corennus through, and then the Luna Wolves Honour Guard parted as the two giant figures approached.
At last the Master of Mankind and the newly found Primarch stood before the First Primarch.
"Horus this is a great day" the Emperor proclaimed, a look of immense pride on his paternal features, "Your brother Corennus is returned to us! And he comes to command your brother Legion, the Emperor's Knights!"
Horus looked over his brother, seeing the same strong features he himself had inherited. The ice blue eyes of Horus met the glinting amber of Corennus'.
Horus was the first to break the silence with a booming laugh. Moving forward he spread his arms wide and crashed against Corennus with a massive bear hug.
Even as he enjoyed the open joy of Horus' reaction Corennus couldn't help but keep turning over in his mind his initial reaction to Horus' advance.
Even as Horus had come to hug him he had instinctively braced himself to strike at his brother.
Banishing the thought, he clapped his gauntlet against his brother's back and laughed himself.
Breaking the embrace Horus looked at his father a little bewildered, as if the outburst of emotion was alien even for him, but the Emperor was standing smiling at them both.
"Come brother, come meet my legion! Now that you've come to us you and me will set a fire ablaze in the stars! The Wolves and the Knights side by side!" Horus boomed.
Corennus laughed again, "They certainly look impressive......brother."
Horus looked back at Corennus, as if shocked to hear that word.
"Brother......yes, I like the sound of that! Your men look impressive too! Especially that man mountain over there!"
Horus pointed to Tyderion, and Corennus turned to look across the space to his First Captain.
Tyderion was quietly feeling sullen rage at the ceremony and pomp of this charade. Stuck inside his armour he was thankful he had chosen to wear his helmet, so no-one could see the look on his face as he watched the Primarchs embrace and play around like children.
Then Horus pointed at him, and said something to Corennus.
Corennus looked at Tyderion, and the First Captain felt his rage inexplicably spike.
'They're joking about me' he thought, 'All these years I toiled at the head of the Legion and I never got praise like this. And now Corennus gets all of this for simply being.......him!'
"Tyderion? Yes, he's a good solid Captain. I'm grateful the legion was in his hands. He's made this a lot easier for me," Corennus stated.
"Well come and meet my captains! I'm sure they'll all get to know each other a lot more now our legions are together! It's rare for the legions to actually be together these days. In the first days all twenty legions fought together, but since then so many of the expedition fleets have splintered off on their own set paths...."
"I would like to meet the rest of the legions one day" Corennus murmured.
Horus turned to his new brother, clapping a hand on his armoured shoulder.
"You will, little brother, one day! Now come.."
Corennus bristled slightly at being called little by his brother, since he stood at the same height as him if not as broad....
Coming up to the line of Captains of the Luna Wolves, Horus swept his arm in a grand gesture.
"May I present Abaddon, my First Captain. You'll never find a better commander of men, or breaker of them!"
Abaddon, a marine nearly as tall as the Primarchs themselves saluted with his fist to his armoured chest, smiling as Horus complimented him.
Corennus nodded to the Captain, seeing the deadly force nearly uncontained by Abaddon's armour.
"If he grows any more he'll have to be in one of your suits" Corennus quipped, trying to be friendly and not aloof.
Horus laughed, "He has a sense of humour! Praise our father! I was beginning to wonder if you really did have the same genes as me! Yes, Ezekiel here normally goes in his Terminator suit, don't you?"
Abaddon nodded, "Indeed my lords. Some say even my Terminator suit is too small."
The captain next to Abaddon inclined his head and laconically quipped "Any power armour is too small once Ezekiel has gotten his big head on. Put him against a stronghold and he'll headbash his way inside."
Corennus couldn't believe his ears. For one Captain to openly snub another in front of his superiors would have resulted in demotion, if not death, in his Knight Companies. Yet here it seemed to be normal.
Abaddon laughed, raising his fist and clapping the captain next to him round the back of the head. The blow was not hard, for an Astartes, but would have sent a normal man sprawling.
Horus' mirth was in full flow.
"And THIS, is Captain Hastur Sejanus. Captain of the Fourth Company, and Abaddon's sounding board, it seems like"
Sejanus, helmetless and looking like an ancient statue of the Roma empire, perfect and heoic, smiled and saluted to the Primarchs.
Corennus was introduced to all the Luna Wolves Captains, including Horus Aximand (the spitting image of Horus), Iacton Qurze (already over 100 years old and the oldest in the legion), and the youngest captain there, Garviel Loken.
"I'm very impressed, if.......a little surprised at the laxity of discipline..." he confessed to Horus as they walked over the hangar deck towards the waiting Emperor's Knights.
"Never mistake good-natured camaraderie for ill discipline my brother. The fact they are at ease enough to joke around bodes well for the battlefield. As i'm sure you know, strong bonds of brotherhood breed better soldiers!" Horus replied.
Finally they came to the line of Knights captains, and Corennus felt pride in their appearance. Each was perfectly at attention, in perfect unison.
"Well brother, may I present Captain Calus Tyderion, my First Captain and Commander of the White Knights Order....."

I like what I'm reading here, to be honest. GW would probably deny any knowledge of this, and have the Inquisition visit you, though
But I jest. All in all, it's good, common sense material. Plausible, not over the top, nor falling down the tragic slope too abruptly. I'm really looking forward to more of your work.

Thank you lupe. More will come when I think about it.
A little bit of info though (beware of spoilers)
The Order of the Fraternis will become the Praetorians, but they hold the legion's terrible secret, and most terrible weapon.
There are no librarians in the legion, since the Primarch's geneseed inhibits psyker ability (with his telekine ability being so strong it blots out all psyker powers in normal marines).
I'll try and do some more "battley" sections soon.

Thank you. Was trying to get across the difference between the Luna Wolves and the Emperor's Knights. The fact that the Wolves have been together so much longer as a band of brothers, as opposed to the Knights who have only recently undergone a massive refit of the legion's command and outlook.
I'm going to think of a new bit of story soon. But the basic premise is that Horus and Corennus get on like a house literally on fire. Very close as brothers, but always testing each other.
Horus sees himself as the First Primarch, and his brother is tactically brilliant and has the power of telekinesis, which Horus is wary and in awe of.
Thankfully the Emperor is there most of the time to get between them before fights break out.
Apart from in the arena...... Automatically Appended Next Post: The temperature in the artificial training arena was set high, making the watching crowd of Emperor's Knights and Luna Wolves sweat, even their Astartes bodies fighting the heat.
In the circular ring two opponents stood, bare chested and without armour, facing each other.
"Are you sure about this little brother?" Horus called over to Corennus as he paced slowly like a waiting predator.
"Absolutely!" Corennus called back, "You stole the glory on Abraxis when it was my men who slogged through the hellfire to open the gap to the command post. You just swanned in and slaughtered the commanders then turned about and left!"
Horus stopped his pacing.
"Oh come on little brother! You knew I was going to strike at the command post when the opportunity presented itself! I'm sorry some of your men died but this is war!"
Corennus lowered himself down into a fighting crouch.
"Wars aren't won by throwing men into a grinder brother. That's not war, that's murder! And if you can't see that you're blind!"
Even though the fight was meant to be a simple show of martial superiority and the sheer power of the primarchs in a friendly bout, the actions of the Luna Wolves in the previous campaign had sat sorely with the Emperor's Knights.
Tasked with clearing the Abraxis system of the corrupted heretical worship of a pantheon of cruel gods, the two legions had fallen on the outer systems and swiftly crushed all resistance.
Then they had come to Abraxis IV, and the martial might of the Abraxans had dug in and resisted the full might of the Emperor's Knights legion for over two weeks of solid fighting.
Eventually, at the cost of over nearly a third of the Order of the Fraternis, and nearly one thousand of the Black Spear, the way was open for a final assault on the command citadel where the Abraxans had set up their final defence.
Then the Luna Wolves had come back from their operations clearing the inner system and landed their First Company veterans right in the corridor created by the Emperor's Knights dead. With Horus himself at their front the Luna Wolves veterans stormed the stronghold and slaughtered the remaining defenders.
Then Horus had returned with his men to his ship at the head of a "great victory", leaving Corennus to assemble his tired and angered forces into some form of dignity.
The Emperor had admonished Horus already for his part in the events, but also told Corennus to stop treating the Crusade as the wars he took part in during his life on Denovia.
Now those feelings of betrayal were coming to the fore in the arena, as the Emperor watched his two sons squaring up to each other.....

Horus struck first, dashing forward and striking out hard with his foot, seeking to smash through Corennus' defence with a show of sheer power.
The impact pushed Corennus back, startling him as he felt the sheer might of Horus focused into that first attack, but he hardly had time to do any more than block as Horus followed up with a set of vicious punches and kicks that would have felled any one of his Captains.
Finally Horus pulled back, giving his brother a brief respite, as if he was satisfied the primarch had been taught a lesson.
It was Horus' worst mistake.
Immediately Corennus sprang forward with his own attack.
He had no hope of catching Horus off-guard, the Primarch was simply too magnificent a combatist for that, but with Corennus now attacking he could direct the flow of the battle.
Falling into patterns of attack that had been drummed into him since his earliest years among Denovian society, Corennus crashed like a tidal wave against Horus, striking faster than unenchanced eyes could follow.
A strike to the ribs brought a grunt of pain from Horus, then he reciprocated with a massive fist to Corennus' right bicep.
Immediately Corennus could feel his arm start to go numb, but he forced himself to move past the pain and keep striking out.
By now the crowd of onlookers were on their feet, shouting encouragement to their primarchs. Captain Sejanus and Captain Scarro found themselves in a shouting match, each trying to drown the other as they added their voices to the crowd.
The Emperor watched impassively. measuring his sons subconsciously against each other. Even though he would never say it out loud, having found Corennus he could begin to see how the time of having Horus to himself had moulded his oldest son into a charismatic if slightly arrogant leader.
And their fighting styles were vastly different. Horus relied on cunning and brute strength, feinting and throwing false attacks, then movinfg forward with astonishing speed and power to cut right to the heart of his enemy's defence.
Corennus on the other hand relied on speed and overwhelming precision. Fighting at a rate hardly visible he tested Horus' defences with multiple strikes, slowly wearing down his opponent's ability to block and then....
The Emperor smiled as Corennus lashed out and caught Horus with a full powered jab.
If he hadn't forbidden it, his son would have taken his brother's head off with that strike, using his telekine power...
This was getting interesting...
Horus shook his head to clear it as he jumped back from his brother's relentless attacks. Already he was regretting allowing him the breathing space to attack in the first place, but now he was being beaten in front of his own legion!
That thought brought fury into his mind, and he roared as he launched himself back at Corennus. Smashing aside his brother's defence in a pure animalistic frenzy he pummelled at the other Primarch's body, sending his fists against ribs, breastbone, arms, anywhere he could see.
Corennus snarled in pain as Horus started to smash agaisnt his body. Twisting and turning he forced himself to move into Horus's assault, vowing he would not give in and be weak.
Kicking out, he caught Horus' knee with his foot. The massive Primarch cried out as his leg was wrenched around by the force of the blow.
Sensing his chance Corennus smashed his fist at the back of Horus' head, but as he did so Horus brought his own fist up to crack into Corennus' face.
The two Primarchs came crashing down on to the floor, each battered and bleeding and bruised.
Even as they started to slowly get up, heads reeling from the massive impacts, the Emperor clapped his hands together and stood from his dais.
"The fight is over. Each of my sons has fought valiantly and bravely. Neither is the victor here. But neither has brought any shame on themselves or their legion. Let this be the end of this sad episode. Henceforth the two legions will forge new bonds and go forth in brotherhood and good spirit! This I command!"
As the Emperor left, and the crowd of Astartes started to disperse, Horus and Corennus were left looking at each other once again.
"Brother......" Horus started
"I........wow you have a good right hook......I apologise" Corennus managed through his raging headache.
Horus laughed.
"No apology necessary! You were right, I was showing off."
Horus swayed a little as he tried to take a step.
"Brother, you have the most vicious fighting style i've ever seen! Let's pray we never do that again!"
"Agreed" Corennus winced as his ribs protested against movement.
"Now come, let's get to the infirmary or anywhere we can find alcohol to heal these wounds. Whichever's closer! Are you with me?"
Horus stuck out his arm towards his brother, knuckles bleeding and broken.
Corennus looked down at the outstretchd hand, then took it in his own.
"Aye, a drink sounds good right now!" he admitted.
"Then that's settled! We've proven our might in the arena, now let's prove our stamina in the victualling hall!"
The two brothers started to stagger out of the arena, arm in arm, drenched in sweat and blood. Shooing away the attendants who came to see to their bodies they traversed the halls and decks, to the amazement and joy of Astartes they passed.
A few hours later Abaddon and Tyderion, ordered by the Emperor to find his wayward sons, found the two giants in the victualling hall nearly comatose after having imbibed enough alcohol to kill an Astartes twice over.

"You're sure of this report?" Horus asked, his fists tightening around the datapad with information scrolling down it.
"The servitors have run through it twice sir," the officer replied, "We picked up vox signals from the Hedron system about two hours ago."
Horus rose from his command dais and looked down at the naval officer before him.
"What kind of vox traffic?"
"Ork sir."
The Hadron system had been bypassed by the expedition fleets of the XVI and II Legions since the scouts had reported no discenible activity there. Even now the lead ships of the fleets had jumped into the warp on to their next destination.
Horus considered the strategic situation in his mind.
He could ask his father of course. Even though the Emperor was preparing to leave his sons for a while to travel to another of the Expedition Fleets Horus was sure he would tarry to oversee this new development.
No.....he was a master of war himself, and besides there was another he could ask advice from now, even though it still didn't sit right to ask anything from his younger brother.
"Open a comm channel to the Knight Imperial, and route it to my quarters" Horus commanded, sweeping round and leaving the bridge.
By the time he reached his personal quarters the comm light was already flashing. Switching the viewer on he saw his brother Corennus, sat in his own quarters aboard his own flagship.
"You called brother?" Corennus asked.
"I've just become aware of.." Horus started.
"The comm traffic in the Hedron system. My men picked it up too."
Horus shook his head.
"Does nothing get past you little brother?" he sighed good naturedly.
Corennus smiled slightly.
"Not much brother. I find one stays alive longer if one knows more."
"Alright......i'm considering swinging the fleet around and launching an offensive on the Hadron system. With the Geralt system only a few parsecs back I don't want our efforts there to go to waste cause we let an Ork colony survive to strike at it."
Corennus nodded, thinking balt to the bloody but eventually victorious campaing on the fields and mountains of Geralt Prime. That had been a good victory, for both legions.
"Agreed. Do you want to inform our father of the change in plans?"
"Do you think it's necessary?" Horus replied, raising an eyebrow, "We are not children Corennus. He can't always be there to fight our battles."
"So far he hasn't fought any of our battles brother," Corennus retorted.
"When our father chooses to fight, little brother, he does so with such fury you'd wish you'd never see it again."
"You sound almost afraid of him."
Horus smiled sadly.
"Afraid? NO, never afraid. Proud, and pitying those who try to stand before him. Before US."
"Hmmmm well maybe one day i'll see it with my own eyes. I'll instruct my men to start preparing for this engagement."
"As will I" Horus stated, saluting his brother with a single gesture before breaking the comm link.
Standing, he walked over to his armour, admiring the new sheen of polish the artificers had worked into the metal after it had come back from its last use.
After a few minutes he stalked back to his comm station.
"Ezekiel?"
The reply came after a moment.
"Yes my lord?"
"Assemble the captains. The Wolves and Knights are going to war again."
The reply this time came with a sound of almost relish,
"At once my lord!"
Satisfied, Horus turned his mind outward. Though he was no psyker in the sense his father or even his brother was, he was not unsensitive to the powers they employed.
"Father" he thought.
The response was immediate.
"Fight well my son. I shall be watching you."

The landings had gone well. Over 3/4 of each legion now resided on Hedron IV, supported by elements of the Imperial Army, numbering over 20000 strong.
The Ork encampments had been scouted out by the recon forces of each legion, and the numbers coming back had been daunting. over a million orks were in camps around the continent the legions had landed on.
Horus and Corennus had spent two nights already planning the coming assaults. Horus had argued for his favoured method of finding the command structure and cutting it out, but Corennus had reined his brother back by pointing out that with orks, even headless, the body of them would still fight tooth and nail.
Eventually they'd come to the conclusion that orbital bombardment was the best solution. With over 100 ships at their disposal they could hit nearly one third of the ork camps in one strike, hopefully wiping out much of the ork force.
The bombardment was due just before dawn, and the lines had been drawn around the vast encampment that held the imperial forces.
As some elements of the army patrolled and kept watch, others slept.
Tyderion tossed and turned in his marine sized bunk. The dreams had come again, always ending in the same nightmare.
He was standing in his prized suit of terminator armour, helmetless, his weapons by his side, looking over a barren landscape.
The wind seemed to swirl around him, with voices sighing and echoing.
"Caaaaalus.......Caaaaaalus!" it called
He swung about, always searching for the source of the voices, but there was just the wind.
"Why do you fight usssssss" the voices moaned again.
"I.......my Emperor demands it" Tyderion murmured, still casting about.
"Let us show you your future Calussss...."
The landscape swirled and changed into a wartorn, ragged battlefield. On it Tyderion could see himself, surrounded by his battle brothers, fighting a desperate last stand against other Space Marines.
Tyderion refused to believe it. Astartes against astartes.
Luna Wolves and..........his own legion........against his small band of loyal brothers.
"NO!" he cried as he spied Corennus and Horus, huge and bloated creatures of destruction marching towards the ragtag defences.
Such betrayal..
"Yessssss betrayal! Betrayal is coming Calussss. But you can stop it!"
Tyderion fell to his knees as he watched the carnage below. He saw himself impaled on his Primarch's sword, the reforged Sword of Valour that had been his to carry before Denov Prime......
"How!" he cried out.
The vision of the battlefield was torn away and replaced once again by the barren battlefield.
"There is a choice Calusss. Devote yourself to us and we will ensure the future you saw does not come to passssss"
Tyderion raised his eyes to skies, seeing shimmering indistinct forms in the clouds.
"Who......who are you?"
Laughter ehcoed across the landscape.
"We have many namesssss. Some are old, some are newww. But you may know us as Chaosssss."
The name sent a chill through Tyderion's soul. These beings were powerful, and this was more than a mere dream.... Automatically Appended Next Post: The decision was made in his mind before he'd consciously made it.
"What do I have to do."
With that statement Tyderion could feel new power coursing into his body.
"A gift Calusss. Feel our powerrr. Now you must find those in your legion who feel as you doooo. Convert them to our cause.......show them the betrayal..."
Tyderion got to his feet, his body feeling like it would burst out his armour.
"And what of the Primarch" he spat.
"His betrayal will be dealt with.......that is the choice we leave to youuuu. Make him join us, or make him our enemy."
Tyderion mused for a while, his thoughts churning.
"And what do I get for this....." he growled
"More power than you could possible imagine" the reply came.
Tyderion's armour rippled, contorting and twisting till it was a hideous parody of the ornately decorated suit he wore normally. Around him dark shadows loomed, resolving into marines in dark power armour by their thousands. The landscape shifted to a bloodsoaked red, with Tyderion's now razor sharp boots stamping on bodies underfoot.
"My gift to you" a roaring voice boomed, harsh as nails and deep as thunder, "an eternity of war to quench your bloodthirst! A million legions for you to command!"
Tyderion's head spun. Such power! Such authority. With the power of these......gods.......he could be strong. Stronger than the Primarchs........stronger than the Emperor!
"YES!" he cried, "Show me more!"
He felt his body changing once again, filling with malign power, but corrupted at the same time. His skin broke out in puss filled sores, and a cloud of flies flocked around him.
A voice like dripping mud seeped into his mind.
"My gift to you, if you would but worship me. I give you mastery over death! No disease or cancer can ever destroy you, and the weapons of mortal men will be as playthings against your beautiful body!"
Tyderion could feel bolter shells riddle his body, and yet it healed almost instantly.
He laughed out loud, a cloud of virulent gas billowing out to turn a squad of approaching enemies to puddles of steaming liquid.
The feeling of corrupted power was washed away and Tyderion's body returned to normal. His armour, still etched with unholy sigils, shifted to a more magnificent richness of colour. Like a flowing ever changing river channeling through his armour, it flexed and morphed with every movement he made.
Tyderion looked over the battlefield with new eyes, blazing with sorcerous power.
"So this is what the Emperor and Corennus can feel" he thought.
Laughter like tinkling rain sprinkled down from the clouds.
"Your Primarch would be like a child compared to you if you worship me young thing. Tzeentch's gift to you is the power of the warp itself at your fingertips. Through me you can achieve a power greater than any mortal!"
Tyderion stretched out his hand, and from it poured molten warp power. Immolating hundreds of approaching enemies in a second, he marvelled at the richness of the warp, and increased the power flowing through his body.
A massive tidal wave of warp energy flowed out of Tyderion into the approaching hoarde of Space Marines.
"More..." he breathed, "Give me more....."
The battlefield vanished, and instead Tyderion found himself in a vast garden. Surrounded by dancing maidens and naked slaves he saw himself as an all-conquering warlord enjoying the pleasures of his conquests.
"Thissss could be yoursss" a voice like soft silk whispered in his ear, "Pleasurrrre...."
Tyderion saw a million possible pleasurable acts in the blink of an eye as his brain was assaulted by Slaanesh's ministrations.
He groaned and felt his body grow weak with lust and darker emotions.
"Painnnnnn" the voice whispered again
Tyderion saw himself perfoming acts of unspeakable cruelty to all life around him. Part of him rebelled against the sight, but a deeper part thrilled to it.
"Yes..." he breathed, trying to take in all the power the gods had shown him.
"YES!" he cried.
"SERVE US" the voices cried in unison.
"I WILL!" roared Tyderion, "I will fight for you all! Give me your power!"
"Not yet, little Tyderion. Prove yourself worthy. Give us Corennus' soul. You will know when the time is right. Go now, and convert your brothers into our service!"
Tyderion opened his eyes, alone once again in his tent, his bunk gently swaying.
His eyes blazed with power gently, until they returned to their natural ice blue.
"For Chaos" he murmured, smiling as he turned over to think and sleep

sad news. may not be able to update much any more since gonna have limited internet access from now on. Hope to do some stuff later but for now I'll just say this:
Tyderion does return as a good guy.
Corennus will eventually return to the Imperium and resurrect the sleeping Primarchs.
One legion above all will hate the Emperor's Knights. Ten thousand years from the Horus Heresy the Word Bearers find out the truth of the Knights' past, and the existence of the Primarch.
And one Dark Apostle manages to infiltrate the most desperate and deadly chapter of the reformed legion.
The Nameless. Marines driven mad by thousands of years in the warp, killing for blood and death but bound by loyalty to their primarch.
300 of these are found to be uncontrollable, and into these ranks comes one hidden enemy....
Avitas the Scion of Tzeentch....

Well thanks. but most of my stories come from the time when the legion has been operating in imperial space for 2000 years (the 41st millenium).
Quick rundown of events since i haven't got the time to really make this thread a story one:
Operation against the orks on Hedron inflict quite a few casualties among the Emperor's Knights and Luna Wolves. Even with continual orbital bombardment the ork forces are much more organised than either primarch realise, and by the end they are forced to commit exterminatus on the world.
Tyderion, returned as the Herald of Chaos, uses the plight of some of the legion's chapter companies (the White Sword, Black Spear, Dragon Helm) to spread secret discord about the tactical and strategic ability of the Primarch.
After Hedron IV the legions split up. The Luna Wolves rendevous with the Emperor, while the Emperor's Knights are commanded to continue on to pursue a campaign against a xenos empire the Imperial scouts had come across during the Hedron campaign.
Here Tyderion was given strategic command of half the legion's Orders, and he and Corennus proceeded to use a "scorched earth" policy in bringing the population to surrender.
But Tyderion went further. Enticing those under his command to commit acts of wanton destruction in the name, seemingly, the Imperium. Secretly he was testing them, seeing how far they'd go under his command.
He wasn't disappointed.
After the campaign concluded Corennus called Tyderion before him, and the captains under his command during the massacre, and had them nearly all strung up before him by using his telekine power. Only his sense of justice stopped him from breaking their necks right there and then.
Instead he stripped Tyderion of his rank as "Legion Commander" and brought the legion back under his direct command for all campaigns to come.
Over the next 2 years the Emperor's Knights battled for the Emperor in numerous campaigns, but with each battle Tyderion shone more and more as his powers grew. Many of the other Orders looked more to him than to Corennus, and he secretly started to plan for the next stage of the betrayal....
