after I lay the base coat of elf flesh and wash it, I highlight with elf flesh and for the eyes, I just paint a white dot on the eyeball and then a much smaller black dot inside, it may take a couple of tries to make them not look cross eyed, but you'll get it, here are some photos for you guys.

I paint the eyes first. That way if when I make a mess doing it, I can just paint over with the skin base colour.

Have you ever tried painting the sockets black then painting two white sections on either side to create the pupil?
I find that to be far more accurate and easier.
Give it a go.

I started by doing that... it makes the pupil shaped wierd... not good, especially for people who are first starting this technique... your idea has less risk of error, but much more difficulty

Look at a real eye. The pupil is not round at all. The eyelid cuts off the top and bottom part making it more like a line in the middle of the eye. The technique Alex suggests is one of the best ways to make truly realistic eyes. The dot in the middle will always make your models look surprised or bug eyed.

That's right.

Look at a normal eye, you will see that the iris is obscured more by the upper eyelid and a bit by the lower eyelid.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Woo hoo!
I've invented a new technique!
From now on all eyeballs painted in this manner will be known as 'Alex Style Painted Eyeballs' Double
