UPDATE: Added painted pictures and pictures comparing it to the bigger thunderhawk.. Note the weapon placements try to accurately follow whats on the thunderhawk. Yeah they might look better elsewhere I tried to go with the fluff of it being a thunderhawk only smaller

First off, credit where credit is due.. I used http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/286057.page for the basic idea on how I wanted to build the storm raven.

Personally I wanted the model to look like a thunderhawk not a valkyrie so I decided to straighten the wings, get rid of the helicopter style rear and add a tail fin. Its just a good thing I had a lot of extra bits laying around to make the hurricane bolters, assault cannon and multi melta. Not sure what else to say! Still got some green stuff to do to fill in gaps, but other than that Im pretty happy with how it turned out

Assault cannon went on top because it has full range of motion as a turret so its much better from a playing standpoint and it was the only real spot to put it.. I like symmetry so every gun that is a single weapon really has to go in the middle. Since the MM needed to be as close as possible, thats where it went! Also it was to further emulate the thunderhawks dorsal gun

Comments welcome and will try to answer any questions. Will look better painted

Love the stormraven conversions I've been seeing. Yours looks good, but the weapon placement looks kinda funny to me. Seems like everything is pushed foward as far as it can go. I'd also get rid of that pasascope on your assult cannons. Brilliant use of the exicutioner cannon for assult cannons though

The difference between commitment and involvement is like eggs and ham; the ckicken was "involved", the pig was "comitted".

Yeah I think im gonna get rid of the targetter on the assault cannon.. As for the weapon placements.. theyre really in the only spots that make sense

Hurricane bolters have to be on the hull somewhere since they wont fit or face correctly anywhere else (The access point is behind them ) and the multi melta either could go on the top or in the front.. and since it needs to be close, i figured on the nose made sense

Basically the hurricanes take the place of the heavy bolters on the real thunderhawk and the MM is like a pintle mount.. I tried to place the weapons where they are on the thunderhawk

Thanks for the comments tho

No problem dude.

I only mentioned the weapon placement because I know there are some players that like to call "cheating" when they think they see even but a glimpse of it. Those people might take the weapon placement for a cheap way to get extra range on them. This could especially be true if they ever come out with a real storm raven.

That being said, have you even thought of making either the multi melta or assult cannon nose mounted like on a land speeder or the real military aircraft flown today?

I thought about that yeah but I found it awkward considering the front assault ramp

Hurricane bolters are blocking the engine intakes. Move them to the wing, imo.

I don't like the Punisher assault cannons at all. They look really bulky and out of place up top. Put them under the wings if you can.

Not sure what the hell that thing is considering that i dont play guard or sm nor am i too familiar with them, but its looks amazingly cool. Everything looks porportional to me, and the overall thing is really cool.

Good job on the conversion, I am gonna take your idea about mounting the hurricane bolters. Thanks for posting this.

Very cool, though at first I swear to god the piece of BA iconography on the rear looked like a Decepticon symbol at first.

I think this is really cool and shaping up well Your are a stud for taking this on it's a hard project. I do have some concerns though.
1. This conversion is sooooooooo expensive.
2. I think the back needs to be longer.
3 The tail mount I think should not be so erect make it sweep back a bit it will give it a sleeker look.

I recently did my first conversion and I know how difficult it can be. I think you are doing great. It's a lot harder to make new sections of a model than people think. So keep up the good work.

JollyDevil: It's a Storm Raven, which is a new transport for the Blood Angels in their shiny new codex, which GW in their infinite wisdom haven't given us a model for yet, so we BA players are struggling to come up with alternatives, although by the look of this one, the struggling for the modeller is over, nice work!

Great design idea, I think you should consider extending the tail a bit and placing the tailfin further back, and mounting the assault cannons under the nose instead of on top.

Nice work. I think the tail is a bit too boxy though. Any way of slimming it down?

I think that the weapon mount locations are fine, but the AC mount is a bit flimsy considering this is an orbital drop vehicle.

This is the best Ork Fighta Bomba conversion I've seen for a while!

Seriously though, it looks crowded with weapons.

yeah, looks uber boxy and orkish to me, too. Not a big fan of it, for that reason.

It's a nice conversion but there is too much weapons on it, that's why it may look orkish.

If you put a couple of weapons further back, it would look more imperial.

Have you seen space marine vehicles? :p They're all boxes..

As for the weapons, well thats how many it has.. not sure how to get around the codex heh.. like i said its modeled after the thunderhawk since the storm raven is a smaller thunderhawk. So all the weapons are pretty much in the spots they should be

I'll post a comparison picture with the storm raven beside the thunderhawk .. Just trying to be faithful to the design
