I'm wondering if there are any companies out there that have these for sale? I'm looking at a medevac Valkyrie that needs something for the wounded to lie on, we can hardly toss them on the deck now can we?

edit.

I'm also looking for suitable 28mm dogs that can double as attack dogs and rescue dogs. Even more oddly maybe, are there any dog minis out there with body armour?

You could always just make your own. Using plastic rod, cut 2 long peices, 2 short(the braces), glue that all together to make your basic strecher shape, then get yourself some cloth, try cheese cloth might look good, dip that in a mix of about 70/30 PVA glue and water(70% glue), shake off then lay ontop of your stretcher, let it harden, then trim exess cloth(might have to supuer glue the cloth to the platic rod once it has hardened). Paint!
PROFIT!

I did my own for my medic, just a couple of bits of rod and some paper. at this scale I think paper gives about the right sized texture, so long as you don't waterlog it when you're painting:

You may want to use aluminum foil instead of cloth or paper, it is thin and it can hold its shape really well.

And how are you planning to make a medevac valk?

Paint the paper in diluted PVA.

Once dried it becomes very stiff and paint proof.

It is a good way to make flags.

Necromunda has some Arbite robo-dogs. I realized that these look nothing like current MWDs, but could be an easy fix for the problem, given its 40,000 years in the future.

Now, any reputable model shop should have accessories designed for tank dioramas. One in NC I used to go to even had a WWII German MP with German shepard. I'm not too sure on the scale, but its worth investigating.

The difference between commitment and involvement is like eggs and ham; the ckicken was "involved", the pig was "comitted".

Well, I want a real dog, something that can double as a mascot in a jiffy if need be.

I know GW has these as Direct Only but I'm afraid they may be too small for 40k:

I like Chins and Pugs to some degree, but using them in wars? No thanks.

@duckdude: LotR models are smaller and more "true scale" than the regular 28mm heroics.

The now defunct Starship Troopers game had cybernetically enhanced alsations and other dogs that may be suitable (k-9 pathfinder unit).

I use them for "familiars" in my DH army.

As for Stretchers, there are plastic model kit version available in 1/35 that aren't horribly out of scale for 40k. Italeri and Tamiya both have them.

You might want to not do that too, as aluminum paper doesn't hold shape and keeps any creases very obvious AND doesn't paint well.

IMHO your opinion is not to be trusted as OTR minis are on a smaller scale than warhammer.
Warhammer is 28MM "Heroic" scale and LOTR is (I think) 25MM.
The miniatures are also obviously smaller.

I bought those dogs, for a trademark object for my IG captain. They looked fine to me. Maybe a little on the small size, but they could be young dogs and not fully grown. Or just give them armor and some rubble on the base to make them stand higher and no one will notice.

If I were you this is the sort of stretcher i'd go for, not some canvas and poles affair. If it's a medevac valk then it'll be properly equipped with basket stretchers.

I've had a search and I think you'd have to scratch one, can't find any model ones for sale

They might also be excellent alternate bodyguards for command squads come to think of it. Though their small size might be useful seeing as they are coming along with drop troopers.

That pack of "War Dogs, Crusader Adept" look great, if a bit biggish if those are cavalry bases that the models are mounted on.

While the cyber-mastiff is a nice model it doesn't really fit in with what I have in mind, nor do I feel like buying a whole pile of Enforcers just to get a robo-doggy.
