This set of rules are my own and not made by Raging Heroes, only inspired by their amazingly awesome model: Syl-Iriah, Spirit of the Woods - Legendary Version

Syl-Iriah, Spirit of the Woods - Legendary Version
Flight, Large, Titan, Ethereal, Giver & Taker of Life, Spirit of the Wood, From the Ashes

As a spiritual avatar of nature, Syl-Iriah is ethereal and benefits from a 3+ ward save.

Syl-Iriah is a level 4 wizard and knows all spells from the Lore of Athel Loren.

Weapons available on the mini (Must choose one for each hand):
Sword (Right) - +D3 attacks. Extra attacks may be conferred to another combat weapon.
Harp (Right) - Sylvan Song
Bow (Right) - Long bow. Fires 3d6 S5 magical arrows.
Sword (Left) - The Spirit Sword - As written in Wood Elf Army Book
Spear(Left) - Can be used as 48" Thrown Weapon. Strength = Toughness of Target +1, deals D3 wounds for each unsaved wound.
Staff (Left) - Syl-Iriah counts as a Lv.4 Wizard while wielding the Staff and knows all spells from either Lore of Beasts or Lore of Life in addition to Athel Loren. She also benefits from +2 to both casting and dispel values.

Giver & Taker of Life: Syl-Iriah is an embodiment of nature empowered with the cycle of life and death. Through her vision she sees not the material world but the spirit of every living creature and the tenuous threads holding them to their shell. Her disembodied voice calls to the spirits, releasing them from their mortal shackles. Syl-Iriah has a breath weapon template attack that can be used in addition to any other ranged attacks and may target a separate unit than her other ranged attacks. It always wounds on 3+ and denies armor and regeneration saves as she removes the soul from her victims with a call to passing. For each unsaved wound caused by this attack she may give a wound to any friendly model to a maximum of twice its wounds, breathing unnatural life into them.

Spirit of the Wood: Syl-Iriah may move between forests at will as if using the Moonstone of Hidden Ways.

From the Ashes: Should any friendly Wood Elf unit be destroyed by a flaming attack, the vengeful Syl-Iriah may be removed from the table and placed within 1" of the fallen unit. She may then make a standard move which may be a charge (the charged unit gets its normal charge reactions).

Sylvan Song: Syl-Iriah's Harp plays a haunting melody throughout her woods, as powerful and fickle as nature itself. It soothes and empowers those defending her home while disheartening and terrifying those who seek her demise. Syl-Iriah's harp has a 24" area of effect. Once per turn during the controlling player's magic phase, roll a d6, activating the corresponding power.

1: Calming Melody: A soothing lullaby quiets the minds of her allies, allowing them to focus in even the most harrowing of situations. All friendly units may reroll any leadership test until Syl-Iriah's next magic phase.
2: Frenzied Requiem: A requiem not for her own companions, but for her enemies as the wild rhythm of her harp drives allies into a bloodlust. Each model in a single friendly unit gains +2 attacks. Mounts also benefit from +2 attacks in addition to their riders.
3: Mournful Threnody: Her harp sings out with the ancient pain of the woodland, overcoming the hearts of her foes with grief and despair at defacing the forest and its denizens. All enemy units must take a leadership test. Should a unit fail, the unit may not make any attacks in combat, cast any spells, use any items and may not fire any ranged weaponry as the warriors lose the will to bring their blades against the forest. Units that are immune to psychology are unaffected.
4: Cacophony of Torment: Harsh dissonance and manic note strikes pierce the minds of invading forces, disrupting their commander's orders. All enemy units are subject to Stupidity during their next turn.
5: Nature's Aria: A light, single-voiced tune ripples through the leaves, awakening the trees to greet their attackers. D3+1 Treekin are summoned to each forest terrain within the harp's area of effect.
6: Symphony of Storms: Ethereal voices join the harp strings in discord, growing in intensity as clouds gather and lightening cracks, thunderclaps offering percussive strikes to the violent melody. Lightening casts forth from the skies causing d6 S4 hits that ignore armor against all enemy units within range. Roll number of hits individually for each unit struck.

What do you think?

No back story for her but I imagine Raging Heroes will be making a very fitting one for her soon. No names for her weaponry yet, I'm very open to suggestions on that end. I'm also not sure of the points value she should come in at. She can certainly be powerful, but she's not really untouchable.

At T5 and 5 wounds she's not superbly unkillable; a Dark Elf Lord on flying thingy could easily swoop in with a hydra blade and potion of strength and start going to town on her. But then she'd just shoot him in the face on the way in if you took the Bow. Either way, if she got away and started sucking up some souls she'd be good as new or better.

I rather like the harp songs (thank you Boogeyman for the random effects idea!). Please let me know if I can word any of them better.

Sweet! Looking forward to this And I will also be tempted by the smaller version, since it would be possible to field it more often...

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Are you looking for some ideas? I have a few thoughts about that harp. actually all the weapons, but I am sure you have your own ideas.

I'm always looking for ideas! Of course we all start out with our own vision, but each of these legendary things have been a pretty good community effort and I'd like it to continue to be! That said, I'm hoping it is assumed that just because we don't agree upon or go with someone's suggestion that doesn't mean we think less of others' ideas.

I think we were on the same wave length.
I was going to put the lore of life in the staff instead of Athel Loren. I was just thinking she would probably know all those on her own.
I thought of the DE soul stealer spell for Giver & Taker of life.
The moonstone for spirit of the wood or I was thinking of the blood statuette of spite.
I was thinking the bow would shoot an arrow like the Uranon's Thunder Bolt.
For the harp I was thinking of specific spells that would happen like the cauldron, anvil, or engine. (as in can't be dispelled) I was thinking of spells like storm of cronos, forked lighting, uranon's thunder bolt, oxen stand, dazzling brightness, blinding light, father of the thorns, howler wind, or rain lord. The powers in the harp would be a little different. One could be rerolling failed Ld tests (including break tests) for a unit. Another would be blinding the enemy unit reducing their WS and BS to 1. One would stop the enemy unit from shooting. Another would increase a unit's attacks by 1. I like the storm of cronos for one. I need one more power, because I was also thinking it could be a random effect since Mother Nature is unpredictable.
I can't come up with anything for the lance, not even sure why she would have one.
I like the spirit sword, I was also thinking of the chillblade or one that just adds +1A and +1Str.
I would give her the forest spirit special rule too.

Haha, yeah, it was time for a change and my 9-pound Maine Coone kitten seemed like a good choice.

Edit: Apparently the correct spelling of that word after Maine is against forum rules. I wasn't aware that was an offensive term, I learned something new!

Yeah, while it's short for racoon, it's ALSO a racial slur for blacks.

Also, that's gonna be a big cat. 9 lbs outweighs one of my Doxies(and she's almost 2).

Wow, I love the rules, the theme, and everything about her!

My only constructive criticisms would be these:

-She's really, really, really good... might need to be toned down a little! She can be killed, but she can kill and influence things all over the place!!

-She has lots of abilities, perhaps she should be more focused on just a few things?

Something like her bow that shoots 3d6 str 4 magical arrows... in the context of everything else, it seems like a small thing, but that's really good!

Also, the template weapon didn't describe which template or the range- I'm thinking it's the small template, with the same range as her bow? Or is it the flame template?

Cheers for such creative and cool rules . Although if I were to put a price on her now... it'd be hard to do it, because although fairly fragile, she can just do so, so much, and her versatility could really give you the upper hand in most battles in which she was fielded.

Yeah... she is certainly better than I had originally intended.

She is indeed VERY versatile but given that they are giving SIX weapons options, there really isn't a way to avoid that without neglecting her options. I could take away the Non-Staff wizardry aspect, limiting her to having access to spells only if she takes those abilities. In fact, that's not a bad idea at all. Removed standard wizard rule, she now only has wizard levels if taking the staff.

While being versatile, she isn't amazing at a particular thing unless she loads up on the appropriate weapon combo. For instance, D3 attacks + Staff would be an awkward combo. And she can't take certain awesome combos like Bow + Harp.

Ah, sorry for not being more specific on her template weapon. In 40k there's Small Blast, Large Blast and Template (flamer). I thought it was worded that way in Fantasy as well. It is a flamer/breath weapon template.

Come to think of it, "From the Ashes" is terribly powerful, too. She's already very mobile with tree warping and flight, it's probably overkill despite being a cool rule.

I like her a lot. I am not sure if she is too powerful when you compare her to other legendary creatures. The fact that she only gets to of the options and even then they can be random i.e. the Harp. Maybe the "From the Ashes" power can be toned down by having a d3+3 dryads regenerating in that spot the following turn?

Upon further review, I added the Lv.4 Wizard and Lore of Athel Loren aspect of her back to the list. Without it, she seemed to be missing a key aspect of being an avatar of the forest and limited in use by her two weaponry choices. Being a standard Wizard she gains a good deal of utility and rounds her out well.

I also updated the breath weapon attack to be able to be used on a separate target than other ranged attacks as well as reworded the description. It doesn't make much sense to fly up next to someone, reap souls, then not be able to use the 30" long bow of hers to annihilate some other unit.

I thought the same way- awesome, but incredibly cool, and so hard to lose!

I also think she should remain a level 4 wizard. I'll think about suggestions for possibly tweaking it to make sure she's not over-the-top with any particular combo of weapons/abilities, while remaining versatile . It's actually not her weapons options that concerned me so much (I was just giving them as an example) but her other special abilities. Some of those I think she might need to be forced to choose between, or make them one-use only, etc. to balance it out a bit

One thing that strikes me with the "From the Ashes" rule is how not-so-often that it will come up, and how befitting I think it is for her exactly as written now. Unless you're a dwarf or a dragon, the only way most armies seem to bring flaming attacks in mass is via magic. If some invading wizard just started torching the forest, I can definitely see this vengeful spirit showing up and putting an immediate halt to that. The same thought goes with any flaming cannons/bolt throwers tossed their way.

By limiting it to a move (even a charge), if she is not geared specifically for combat (say you took harp + staff), then she is merely in range for next turn and not doing anything. Even if she is geared for combat, she can only stop one unit at a time and the war machine/wizard has often already done their damage for that turn if it has wiped out a unit to trigger the "From the Ashes" rule.

The biggest strength of charging with that movement is the fact that you will then face combat on your opponent's turn but still get your charge bonus. That is amazing since she can then move about freely on her next turn.

I think if you took the double sword and her normal rules, then she's not over the top and doesn't have too many options to remember. When you throw in a harp + staff combo you're looking at a bunch of dice rolling between spells and harp's magical effects but then she's only moderately decent at combat rather than being a monster in combat that 5-7 Spirit Sword or scary spear attacks creates.

Oh, I like that it's only from a flaming attack now (was it already like that?). That's good, won't come up too often... but is very, very cool

It's always been like that!

Do you feel she's missing anything, or should I just get to work on the Lord character?

Well, what about the obvious- is there a points cost anywhere? It's entirely possible I missed it, just like the mention of flaming

Nope, haven't put a number on her. I need to look at the Wood Elf book some more to get a decent number for her. I know Orion costs a truckload and I imagine she's better than him.

Orion is right around 600- I think 580 without his hounds, and maybe 610 with. So that's a start

I got lazy and haven't attempted to get a game with Ceolmund... I need to find a regular group of gamers (right now I just do pick-up games basically) which I'm hoping to at a nearby store next week...

Haha, yeah it does, doesn't it? I think the blame for that rests in how thick the antlers are at the contact point. Nothing some proper filing and really thin pinning wouldn't cure, right?

So are you going to lighten your wallet by 50 pounds ($100?) to spring for this? I think the small one would be an awesome addition to a lot of armies, although the larger will probably be reserved for ideas like this one.

Would love to see pics if you do

As much as I'd really love to, I have the 28mm version of Syl-Iriah and the 54mm version of Asharah on the way instead.

But the legendary Syl-Iriah is tempting... maybe as a Christmas present to myself if my painting skills get good enough to do it justice.
