Good day Dakka,
Bit of a newbie question, just in the process of building a Black Templars army and have invested in a Predator. Just put it together and pleased with the results but not sure whether to glue the turret to the hull. Obviously, in my opinion at least, it looks better when you can swivel the turret but it's a bit loose and I can see accidents galore in the future.
Just wondered what other people do, any tips for making it sit more securely, it only has a tiny lip to hold it in place.
Thanks for your thoughts, sorry if this seems petty!

Glue a large chunk of metal inside the turret.
Sounds silly, but the weighted center holds it in place well.
Also, its alot easier to keep track of damage when you can take a vehicle apart.

If your not fussed about seeing the inside of the predator always an option to magnetise it

I personally think that the best idea would be to magnatize it like TungstenMonkey said however this will take a little time getting the right size magnets and fitting them so that the turret still slots into the same place.

I glue pennies into my turrets, adds weight and is pretty cheap too!

Magnetizing is best, but it's kind of a pain to do if you've already glued the top plate down (You can rig something, but I assure you it's a pain).
Sufficiently weighted turret doesn't go anywhere. I've got a Pred w/ the old metal turret/sposons and have never had a problem with it getting knocked about.

I'm not like them, but I can pretend.

leave it unglued. Easier transport and depiction of weapon destroyed/ vehicle destroyed. If you have magnets, put them on the 2 halves of the turret so you can swap out the guns.

Not for everyone but...
File down the bottom of the turret until an upside-down 1" (25mm) base would just barely clear the underside of the turret plate.
I then just glue it on and then glue the top surface of next size base on which holds the turret on VERY well.
BTW used magnets inside the turret so cannons could be swapped.
See attached, painting is still in progress but you just might see the inside of the turret to see what I mean (or how the parts are shown in front of the tank).
Hope this helps.
Something clever could be done with magnets but lining everything up would be a bit of work.

Talizvar, that's a bloody clever idea! I have to say my eldar tanks are easier to transport as simple hulls, with the turrets in a seperate tray, but if I ever need an attached turret that can still rotate, I'm nicking your brainwave!

If you want to keep it simple, just don't glue the turret on. Aside from magnetizing the guns, there's nothing more complex you need to do!

I never glue my turrets on. All Predators I have seen got them clean and simple loose on the top. Hardly goes any wrong with it. Makes it easier to transport in many cases too.
However, you should have magnetized it all the way, making into a Rhino/Razorback/Predator! Unless you have enough rhinos and never want to play without your nice looking predator.
