How do chaps

I am planning on getting a few warwalkers soon and would like to magnetise the weapons. I have never worked with magnets at all and so am a complete novice at it. Can anyone talk me through it please or reccomend a website/video about magnetising warwalkers please?

I have read and watched videos I can find about magnetising but it always seems to be tyranid arms which look pretty straight forward. Also what size mahnets to get and where from would be great.

Thanks

I pinned my warwalkers and all the eldar weapons in my army, and it worked very well. All of the weapons slot down into the holder, which works well for pinning. I will try and get some pictures of the actual pins when I get a chance, but you can take a look at the finished model in my gallery, I have a army profile up. the warwalkers, weapons teams, vyper, are all pinned.

the army profile title is "the bunky eldar", and i just went back and looked, and it makes me want to go and paint more eldar.

I imagine Warwalkers are much like anything else.

I use 3mm x 1mm neodynium magnets - about £4 for 50 on ebay - search 'rare earth magnets'. Little blighters are poweful enough, but not so much that it's hard to take the weapons off.

Get a 3mm diameter drill bit - do not use a drill - use a hand chuck, pliers or just your own hand to turn the drill bit. Carefully drill 1mm deep holes in the weapon, and possibly the place you want to attach it.

(It may be that the walker itself has a lug, which is supposed to fit into a hole on the weapon - I don't know. If it has such a lug, cut it off and stick the magnet in its place.)

I imagine the weapons already have holes, and you are simply making them slightly larger with the drill bit.

Add a tiny dab of superglue to the hole you have drilled and insert a magnet.

For the sake of god and England, make sure you get the north-south alignment right or the magnets will repel each other!

I magnetized my Immolator weapons - it's very quick and actually pretty damned easy.

Just bite the bullet and try it - I did and it all went swimmingly.

The only real danger is mixing up the magnets' poles.

War walkers are hard to magnetise as instead of being a hole and pin system like on the falcons, they have a slot and tab system which is much harder to magnetize.

I've made all of my weapons on the WW modular by drilling two holes at either end of the slot on the weapon holding shoulder on the model itself, and then gluing two pins at either end of the tab on the weapon.

so your weapons look like

Periods in diagram above are to make things line up

and your slot looks like
( )=======( )

hope that makes sense.

Sorry for taking so long to get some pics up, but here you go. So I clipped off a little of the tab at the back of the weapon, and then drilled up to put a pin in. It is much harder to see, but with the weapon placement I then just drilled a hole ate the back of the slot. I find that this holds the weapon well enough, but you could certainly put a pin at the front and the back of the weapon.
