Hi All,
I'm working on a 10K Guard Apocalypse Army. I kind of want to do it with all foot troops, but I have some tanks and APCs and they're included in the list until I actually paint 10K of infantry.
Everyone is painted, but some aren't flocked yet. Right now there's between 7-8K counting a small handful of marines. I've included just about every version of legal Heavy and Special Weapons ever made, from the very first days of the Rogue Trader Imperial Army up to the latest plastics. The conversion beam projectors and multi-meltas didn't make the cut, because there are no rules.
There's: 5 Chimeras, 2 speeders, 16 sentinels, 2 Preds, 1 Russ, 6 Ogryn, >100 Heavy Weapons teams, 36 special weapons teams, 11 officers with staff (alot more special weapons, medics, advisors), 25 Ratlings, 6 Inquisitors (short full retinues), and 10 infantry squads. There's even a couple thudd guns, mole mortars, and rapiers thrown in.[img]

16 Sentinels makes my mouth water. My Vostroyan army has 3 mostly for flavor, and I had such fun with the models.

"The conversion beam projectors and multi-meltas didn't make the cut, because there are no rules. " In fact there is. In apocalypse you can come up with your own rules forconversions or OP models. So if it's ok with yiur oponent you can still use them Automatically Appended Next Post: Note: *for conversions* *your* I write to fast..

I am posting pictures to show the evolution of Guard weaponry. You'll quickly see the technology is decreasing as the weapons are getting bigger, but you'll also notice the factories are making at least a better looking product.
First up is heavy bolters. I have found eight versions of this weapon. Left to right: 1. this ancient little heavy bolter dates back from the days of the Imperial Army; 2. a metal heavy bolter, anti-grav technology allows a regular human to carry these large weapons; 3. slightly different plastic version; 4. an early Cadian heavy bolter, the grav technology is lost and now they have to have wheels to move these beasts; 5. Unless you're strong as a marine like this Last Chancer; 6. the new Cadian plastic, I don't know how two guys are supposed to carry it around; 7. a newer Vostroyan one with drummed ammo; 8. a tarantula with really large heavy bolters, I think they really belong on servitors.

Only two regular mortars and a mole mortar here. 1. metal; 2. newer plastic; 3. lost technology from a silly weapon called the mole mortar manned by plastic squats. The round would travel underground to the target. I glued a regular mortar to one of them so I could called it a "counts as" mortar.

Missile launchers. 1. Plastic launcher stolen from a plastic beakie marine; 2. actually a GW Rogue Trooper; 3. I'm only pretty sure this is a GW launcher; 4. Catachan with lighter launcher and stand; 5. Mordian version without face plate and stand; 6. Steel Legion version that looks more like what all these weapons really are, rocket grenades or just plain rockets; 7. plastic Cadian.

Non-codex weaponry Heavy Stubber and Hunter-Killer missile launcher, GW never made us proper man portable versions of these weapons, so I made my own. They'll get painted eventually.
1. Actually a Renegade Miniatures WW1 Vickers machine gun with IG bits; 2. Hunter-killer simply planted on a heavy weapons tripod.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
There are also a few versions of autoguns, laser rifles, sniper rifles, and ratlings guns. I won't post the pics until I figure out how to better use my camera.
Vox models will come too.

Sarigar,
You asked how long it took to lay out all the models. That is a giant problem with the army, it took almost an hour. I knew they took up about ten square feet and that is the just under the size of the table, so I had to place them carefully so as to not have to spend all night replacing them.
With Apocalypse's emplacement time bidding for turns an hour is too long. I need to either buy or invent movement trays to facilitate quick placement.
I eventually intend to paint about 20 more square feet of models. I believe I still have about 20ish low point cost tanks, 50 more heavy weapons teams, 50 more special weapons teams, and 20 infantry squads are left to paint.
My Apocalypse "spam spam spam" plan is that an equal number of points in lascannons can and will take out a Titan, before the Titan takes them out. If GW brings back IG plasma cannons, multi-meltas, and Conversion beam projectors, I could make Titans fall like dominos.
Tanks are some what negated with so many heavy weapons.
Infiltrators and deep strikers will be countered with a horde of Daemon Hunter/Mystic combos, lot (lots!) of auspexes, and so many cheap models.
Charging armies become useless because an Apocalypse game is only so long and you can only kill so many models in hand to hand. I intend to flood the enemy with so many human sandbags that they'll never stop my objective contesting conscript/infantry swarm.
Horde armies will be incredibly slowed by the sheer number of pinning snipers, pinning ratlings, and pinning mortars.
Of course my plans are probably stupid and all plans are made to fail, but I like painting the lowly foot slogger. I really don't enjoy painting or assembling vehicles; I only own them because I don't like the idea of all the troops not having rides to the battle.
I also apologize for some of the photos being such a poor quality. I need to buy some lamps, and better understand my cameras. I thought the auto setting would do all the thinking for me, but alas that was false. My better pictures happened when I accidently knocked the knob off auto to the "M" setting.
