Hi all

Having just about solved my MODgryn problems I decided to play about with a high tech Rough Rider solution. These guys are supposed to be fast moving and hard hitting but I didn't want to go the standard horse or bike route

Footling about online looking for inspiration I found the concepts of digitigrade and leg enhancements intriguing, especially combined with a more conventional exoskeleton.

And so here we have it. An augmented "Stalker" class go-faster suit for Guardsmen

Images with Kasrkin and a random cavalry model for scaling purposes. Some work still required on the waist joints and there is some GS work to do to create harnesses and webbing, especially on the legs.

That's awesome! How and what did you make it from?

It has been varified by John Hurt that the Ultramarines are indeed the greatest space marine chapter.

That's great. I'm amazed that I haven't seen it done before in this style before.
Love the concept but i'm a little concerned about how it will look with a lance?
Keep us posted.

@Ultrahawk - Its a slightly odd selection of random bits I had kicking about. The feet are made from Crisis suit toes and Devilfish landing gear shock absorbers. The legs and the rear foot platform are made from the Valkyrie door gun mounts. The backpack is a Marine plasma cannon version and the head is from Pig iron

@Alex - I don't want to go for a standard lance. I saw a bike version a while ago that had an auto grenade launcher as a counts-as lance and I like the idea of assault launchers, rather than a bangy stick

I'm still fiddling with the assault launchers though. They might replace the backpack stabiliser/cooling vent on one side.

Yeah, assault launchers could be a good way to go.
I wasn't too sold on the lance idea. Glad to see you have the problem in hand.
Carry on!

This is hot. I also want to applaud the idea of taking a unit that is supposed to make the game feel more steam punk and slapping 'Mecha' all over it! As a bit of a change up to the GL counts as Lance idea, I've been thinking of modeling an Impact Hammer after the one in Unreal Tournament 2K3 with the IG flammer back-pack and maybe a mortar tube or something. Since I don't use calvery though I never had a way of working it into my army, feel free to use it!

Nice idea, it would require a few more pistons near the 'heel' though IMO.

god help me, i actually like it. what are you going to do modelling wise about the almost mandatory hunting lance? it wouldn't look right to have him holding a spear.

@Khaine - I thought about that too. I tried one version and didn't like the result too much. I might tinker a bit more later.

@Warboss - As noted above I will be replacing the Lance with assault launchers fromed out of Marine smoke launchers as indicated below

(The leg braces have been loosened for tinkering.)

really unique concept idea! Have you tried brass rod in the ankle joint maybe? U can also get plasticard in dowel (both solid and tube), which you could use? Bt it looks really good
