Like many people, I was curious about the Mantic stuff, and as a reward for meeting a weight loss goal (and using the money I've saved by not eating or drinking), I bought a high elf warhost. I hope to get more painted and built in the next few weeks, but here are the early models. In general, they're smaller in scale, and definitely more delicate in build than a GW elf. That's a good thing, as is the lack of scale mail skirt, IMO.

Here is a group of scouts. I started with purple, but I think I'm going to swallow the bitter pill of conformity and go with a deep blue.

Here is a single scout, showing off the detail. They can be posed better than they are shown on the website.

Finally, here is a single spearman, with the new blue scheme, before being washed and shaded.

Its always good to see some alternative take on an army. However, I think like the GW High elves better. These look a bit low on deatails in comparison, but i really like the helmets.
Concerning your painting, Id say you have found a great blue to start with, but the white looks a bit bright against the dark blue (even for high elves maybe you could try a light grey tone. Also, most people would probably suggest you thin your paint with water to get a moore smoth look. Particulary the white parts come out thick and cloggy on these pictures, but it might look ok on a table thoug.
Best of luck to your high elf project.

Hmm.. the models are a bit too spindly for my liking. The armour doesn't look like it would be able to stop anything.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I think the Scouts would look a lot better done in earthy colors, but that's just me.

Good job otherwise!

Well, this is for a High Elf WFB army, and shadowwarriors are painted in army colors. Each warhost (battalion) has essentially 10 free scouts, so I have plenty to practice on...

I like the blue.

I would have stuck with the instinct to do purple, but that's just because purple is my favorite color.

painted: 12 dryads,9 glade guard,2 glade guard scouts.
assembled but unpainted: 2 glade guard and the lord's bowman, 8 glade guard scouts, sexy elf lord
in the box: , 8 glade riders, , one female spellsinger, Orion, Ariel, the faerie queen. SOB immolator, 15 sisters.
