Wow! I'm hardly a fanboy, and I think they look great!

Other than the flayed ones. As far as all the flair (which I really don't see much/if any of and the gauss patterns (AKA paint)... pretty sure that's stuff you can put on IF you want (IE: like bolt pistols, grenades, combat blades, ropes, pockets, etc. for tactical marines).

If you don't like how these look... really sorry, but I think you might want to take a step back and see this more as the Lords asserting their individualism on the rank and file as they (the Lords) become more and more aware and the old factions that had split the Necrons begin to reassert themselves as more and more Lords awake (and have been awake longer). Pretty sure the new 'dex is going to further the internal politics and intrigue among the Necrons (and remember I called that here and now).

Great instead of slightly changing the model range of the Necrons, they made it so that all the old Necron players will have to pay out the wazoo in order to keep playing their once-favourite army(like me).

Except for the lords pretty much all currently existing models remain the same. Lords get flashier which IMO is a good thing, and what I thought everyone wanted. Flayed ones are pretty similar, and the Immortals are practically identical to the old ones.

I think it's safe to assume Wraiths, Destroyers, and Warriors will retain their aesthetic, if they do get a make over in the first place that is.

Honestly every current necron model seems to mesh with this new stuff just fine, except for Pariahs who funnily enough are being removed if I'm not mistaken. Then again they always were the most out of place (but I hope their fluff stays!)

I think if you gave the pariahs some bits, they'd work great as lychguard or preatorians (maybe even with no change at all)

Not sure I agree Achilles
I can see that buying some of the new units and transports could create an aesthetic issue, but that is purely cosmetic.

The old Necron models are not bad imho and I would continue using them if I was in your postion

I'm all for dropping the transparent tubes, I always thought they seemed tacky. The new flayed ones are blecch, if I was considering a Necron army for the new release I would be buying up the old models like crazy. The barge looks like a joke ('Crons surfing the web). I don't mind the transport 'prongs up' with the warrior cargo, the 'prongs down' version looks stupid (especially next to eachother!). Everything else looks like Tomb Kings 40k which is lazy, but expected. Does anyone know who sculpted them?

And the flayed ones, but they might be OK with a good paint scheme.

I liked the old flayed ones better, and I'm not a fan of the transports, but I think everything else looks great. There are a few things I don't like:
1. Necrons with named characters? That just seems... wrong. It goes with what Son_of_Deddog was saying about the army becoming less unique, giving them named characters seems like they just want the list to conform to other armies. I'm not talking about the C'tan, of course. Just normal necrons.
2. They're not that scary. That's why I like the old flayed ones better. The old ones looked like really creepy in those 'stalking' poses. The new ones look like they're dancing. Necrons are supposed to be a creepy nightmare army of death, and I don't think the new necrons have that same effect. I'm aso not a fan of the colour scheme int the pics, but that can be changed.

However, most of them look awesome, how lucky that I just started a necron army! I'll definately be buying some.

Why do they look so frickin dynamic!? These are necrons with I2 we're talking about. And I greatly disapprove of the Space Tomb King's look on the IC models. That just looks like nonesense.

The immortals however are pretty nifty I daresay.

The models look great. The only one that looks sort of off, but is still cool in its own way is the model that looks like it has 2 Necrons pedaling it along while the Necron Lord barks orders at them. I see the point the article is making because its bad for business, but that's a really small issue. In a few weeks people will come by and pick up the models or pre order them. It'll happen eventually. People will want these models, simple as that.

It's not TERRIBLE, but I'm not thrilled either. I think the vehicle concepts are good except for the whole pilots thing and Immortals/Warriors/those snipers look good.

Really, I wanted GW to go more towards an ancient race of hyper-advanced machines and less towards independently thinking Tomb Kings in space. Necrons with spears/shields shows that 40k and WHFB are moving towards each other once more after the Tyranids/Tau indicated a split.

I give that line an 8 out of 10. And it seems that most of the 'offending' stuff can be removed or adapted withot much issue. So let's try and prevent te nerdrage, as fun as it usually is.

The only think I don't quite like are the skirts on the lords. They seem a bit off.

The Flayed Ones are also a bit drab, though to me it seems the skin wasn't painted all that well.

I hope this doesn't become another dark Eldar "Look at the Incubi!! They have HORNS! Disgraceful! What are we, chaos marines now!!!!" thing.

In Boxing matches, you actually get paid to take a dive and make the other guy look good.

In Warhammer 40K, you're expected to pay cash out of your pocket for the privilege of having Marines and IG trample all over your Xenos/Chaos.

While his post is incredibly antagonistic and not very well-thought out, the gist of what he's saying is not entirely wrong.

There's been a trend more and more lately for store owners to post these kinds of "The sky is falling, the sky is falling!" kinds of articles (or in some shop-owners' cases: videos) online whenever there's "breaking news" about GW.

It's an easy way for them to ring up hits and get people who might not have been aware of their shop to be made aware of that shop. B&M shops, especially those with clubs associated with them or that actively foment clubs, tend to have a bit of 'drama' going on. Sometimes that drama is beneficial(Dave and Jeff are having a grudgematch! Winner takes home a $25 gift-card to Olive Garden!) and sometimes it's downright harmful to the community associated with that shop (Dave slept with Jeff's wife, and Jeff's wife left him for Dave.).

If I had to pick between going and buying my stuff somewhere that drama was always going down or starting up my own club at my own house and ordering from eRetailers--I know which one I'm doing, and it's not going to involve the drama llamas.

On-topic though:
I disagree with the article. I also hugely dislike the fact that rather than posting an introduction or anything of that nature, it's a simple blog plug and done.

Wow you totally missed the big picture. First off I am both a discount seller and a brick and mortar (heck to thrive in this age as a store you have to have an online presence). Second how am i supposed to sell them for the next two weeks, when I dont know how much they cost, or what I can even order ie thats not direct.

Accord to Gw's Policy customers are supposed to come to a store, look at white dwarf and then either buy or pre-order them. Everything is supposed to go live at the same time. Then BoW came along thinking they can just do what they want, and poop on every retailer in the world. Now people dont have to come to my store to see the new figures, and drop some cash on some while they are here.

This isnt about GW's policy its about how supposedly a retailer leaked the pics to a media site, who posted them all over the world.

Oh and now wayland has necrons up for pre-order with prices and sku's. Okay so the rumors about Wayland and Beast of War being one in the same cant be true at all. nope....

Wayland is hurting our hobby by going to market two weeks early, and crapping on all of the US/Canada, and Australia. They want to corner the market, and break the rules fine. Its not like they can ship out of the UK/Europe. But this weekend has made them a ton of enemies, most notably; Games Workshop.

No such information has been release by GW to retailers. Nor am i going to go to market with information that is not confirmed, or that is against policy.

I am afraid there is a hobbyist/businessman barrier here that may be preventing the point from getting across.

Let me put it like this.

Because of BoW's actions less folks will be inclined to go to their FLGS to see the new figs firsthand. THey will not spend as much money on impulse buys and or pre-ordering the models because they have seen them, the newness has worn off, or they already bought them online from someone who should not have had them for sale.

For a local shop that influx of money and interest keeps them going. Its what an LGS needs to survive. Lets face it not every store is run and or stocked properly. Now imagine them just losing 5% in sales because of this. Well that could equate out to $500-600 in profits just because someone opened their big mouth. Just one person from that store buying online cause they couldn't wait until that store could legally sell the items could easily cost them a $300-400 sale cause that's about what the start to an army costs these days.

Now image that across the board to the estimated 500-800 stores just in America. say $320,000 in lost sales if one person at each store bought online because they couldn't wait. That is over a quarter of a million dollars in realistic? theoretical lost sales because of this. Course the actual numbers will vary, i'm just spit-balling here. An that is not every counting every sale GW would make off their site, which I am sure is higher that all the LGS's combined.

So yeah the sky may not be falling, but its certainly cloudy with a chance of rain.

I hope this break down helps. I invested a ton of money and hard work into my store so yes when stuff like this happens I will take stand.

Amazing
It is everybodys' fault bar GW's
Sorry but regardless of what you think, BoW did what any other online games site would have done. It is hilarious how they are copping flak for this

If a retailer has leaked the news, presumably that retailer thinks there will be some advantage in doing so.

Wayland want to corner a market that is being squeezed hard by GW? Why would they not?

BoW publish the GW scoop of 2011. Why wouldn't they?

You said it yourself,
Accord to Gw's Policy customers are supposed to come to a store, look at white dwarf and then either buy or pre-order them.

what an half-arsed way to run a business. They get what they deserve here.
