I could see that actually being a good rule - if you're willing to risk mishapping into the enemy, and risk a low assault roll, go for it. It makes Deep Strike higher risk/reward, rather than an almost guaranteed fate of getting off your meltagun shots and then dying pathetically during your opponent's next turn. Teleport homers would be extremely worthwhile, and I think shooty Termies would be more worth taking too (opportunity to assault if the dice work out, falling back on shooting if they don't). Vanguard Vets would still have a slight edge (in that they can assault the full 6" after Deep Strike).

drop pods kind of become super powerful then with their guidance systems. but I liek the d6 to assault from deep strike, though as a mostly ork player most my stuff that can do it already does assault out

That's the idea behind a good fake rumor. Make it sound mildly plausible.

yea, liek the new rules that were leaked, I read them and played a few games with them.. i can't diagree that they workk pretty well, and there were some things we couldn't know yet how our units were to act. i think there'd need to be simultanious releases of erattas to all codexes to make things work but still play testing small skirmishes with troops and a few vehicles was quite interesting. I also liek the lack of first turn meaning so much between equal armies/generals... easily my fav part

and yes as below alleged new rules, i don't knowif they are thereal deal but still wanted to try them

Aggh, that was painful to read. You mean the 'alleged new rules', I assume that were leaked last year and eventually dismissed as either a way early 'kitchen sink' playtest or a hoax?

As I've said in other places, I'll wait until I actually see the book.

Same, I'm not in any huge rush, just looking forward to July, more interested in seeing how they will handle preorders for limited/collectors stuff. Also as I noted in the BoK rumours, I don't really believe either sets of these rumours. However I will not be out there with burning torches if it turns up to be true either.

Allies actually benefits me, as I have two Imperial armies, and Chaos marines/Demons are solved for a combined army point of view.
The rest is stuff I'd just learn to live with, perhaps even enjoy when gaming. Oh and as to the fluff, GW have hacked in some many twists and turns and new, perhaps weird ideas in reccent years, that I'm not really phased anymore.

Tau, being guarded by the Ultramarines. Hmph.. bring it on!

Connecting the dots a little, what if the D6" assault move only applies when assaulting after Deep Strike?

Obyron doesn't scatter when he uses his improved Veil of Darkness and lands within 6" of Nemesor. Nemesor can of course be in the same unit if he wants to. They won't scatter. Now answer a Necron player (me) whether you think it would be okay, balanced, or even fun for either player, if I could join a unit of 6 Wraiths or an enormous unit of Lychguard with the heroes, and on the first turn of the game multi-charge a couple of your units and wipe them out? Who cares if the assault would be D6" inches since I don't scatter and can therefore land within an inch of your guys? There would be no way to stop this without screwing yourself up. Each turn Obyron and his guys would teleport out of an existing combat somewhere and assault another unit on the other side of the table and wipe it out. This is just one occasion where it simply breaks the game. It's not a wargame unless enemy moves can be countered and the counters countered in turn.

Actually, the rule states that Obyron must DS within 6" of Zahndrekh to not scatter. If Zandrekh is in Obyron's unit when he teleports, then he can't be on the table since you have to place Obyron first as he's the one doing the teleporting. You'd scatter as normal. What you can do is stick Zahndrekh in a Barge and have him fly around the board to where you want Obyron to not scatter. Off topic, I know.

Not like you really need deepstrike shenanigans to make wraiths viable, though that'd mean for once Lychguard would be used for something.

the problem is that one rule without the context of other rules cant be argued as faulty. simply because other mechanics in the system adjust to make it work.

Its all just wild speculation until it drops. Between the leaked 6th ed rules, the BoK rumour, and this, there's a lot of inconsistencies. Granted, there are a number of consistent things, but meh.

So step right up and get yourself a genuine, bone-fide, tin-foil hat!

BoK wrote:OMG finally finally my poor little site is fixed thanks for the patience everyone! So anyway it looks like I started some rumor spilling last week as everyone in the rumor mill decided to jump in the game. I hope what I am about to post is not already outdated, but with life and the server repair I haven’t have time to keep up.

Ok, let us get ready for some fun guys 6th is about two months away so let us set up some ground rules first off.

That leaked 6th edition pdf was and is still a complete fabrication.

40k 6th edition is going to be much closer to Fantasy 8th and 40k 2nd edition than anything else.

GW still has rumor lock down in place, so these leaks are for the most part things that have been seen before from previous editions of Games Workshop games. This is to protect sources from the long arm of GW.

Ok, with that said lets get to it.

Let us start with 6th edition fluff progression.

The Imperium is fracturing and the Space Marines are starting to separate themselves from the Lords of Terra. The heretical and xenophobia has gotten to a tipping point causing many chapters to take actions against the “best wishes” of many in the Imperium.

A discovery of galactic importance has happened.

At a time before right before the Horus Heresy the Emperor had intrusted Roboute Guilliman in the protection of one Xenos race that was completely immune the temptations of Chaos and would prove the ultimate key to the destruction of Chaos. The Horus Heresy ended such plans. Fast forward today with discovery of these lost correspondences, it is believed by the Ultramarines and others that the Tau are that lost race. So now instead of being charge with their destruction the Astartes are the Tau protectors.

Rules changes

•Every unit gets a 6+ save vs. all Psychic Powers.
•Random Charge Lengths are in
•Pre-measuring is in.
•Random Battle field effects are in.
•All armies can purchase buildings for placement on the battlefield.
•Psychic powers are selected during deployment. (except Grey Knights)
•Deployment and Missions types have doubled.
Get ready for the Big one..
ALLIES ARE BACK INThat is right allies are back in and this will be according to fluff and will have certain restrictions. So for instance Tyranids will not have any allies. Tau with all Space Marine Chapters. Necrons with Blood Angels. Imperial Guard with Space Marines. Chaos Space Marines with Demons. If it fits the fluff it will be done.

This is just to get you guys started.

Expect more to come out as we get closer to the impeding release of Warhammer 40k 6th edition.

Oh again forgot to mention in the CSM rumor post to add that Oblit options will be even more expansive with close combat load out available.

If this has been put out before sorry.

interesting idea, could make sternguard a lot more scary if it was, like, BS 2, So they can still be able to hit anything and cause some wounds, although it would be a little harder than normal.

Although, can you imagine a sternguard unit in a vulkan list? say, 10 man with x4 combi-flamers and one heavy flamer. If each one got a ton of attackers under a template, and all the flamer templates being twin linked. I think even khorn berserkers would wither under such a thing The low BS wouldn't really mean a thing with flamers, would it?

If snaP fire is -1bs instead of bs1 then it'll make sense. And if you can snap fire at a unit consolidating into assault it will work to balance out an OP mechanic while making CC feared again.

These and hull points are the only recent rumors I like.

Just an example of what bull... is currently sold as rumours: Warseer moderator Darnok posted this as an outlook on 2012 releases as told by an anonymous source:
Alright, this is depressing. Really depressing. I thought this was a rumor forum. Well, I scoured the heck out of this grand ol' internet of ours back in December 2011, and I'm going to list off what I have heard is planned for the year of 2012 (surprisingly accurate for the first four months, almost five).

January: Vampire Counts army book (I made this list right when the first VC rumors started hitting, which is actually what made me want to consolidate the rumors that I put stock in)
February: Vampire models
March: Tyranid and Space Wolves model waves (I had heard a lof of Space Wolves, Nids and Necrons, and just did put stock in another full Necron wave yet)
April: Empire army book
May: Dark Angels or Chaos Codex (obviously I was misled about this one)
June: Necron wave (off a month, but my May guess probably won't fall into June, because I don't see them releasing a 40K codex a month before 6th ed; so what's coming in June? Fantasy models)
July: 40K 6th ed
August: 40K model wave
September: Warriors of Chaos book
October: Empire models and Dark Angels or Chaos codex - whichever wasn't released in May (well, the latest rumors - as of 3 months ago since the well is so dry - has this as Chaos)
November: Hobbit!
December Warriors of Chaos model wave and 40K model wave

So far, I've only been off by a month for one of the releases. And I'm looking forward to my friends and all the other naysayers eating their words when they find out I've been right about the rest of the year.

So the source predicted the past almost correctly. He was sensitive enough to predict the 6th edition rulebook and Hobbit and WoC book. But then he predicts no 40k starter this year, a further release slot for Fantasy Empire that has everything released (except new knight, that were just included in the batallion box), 2 40k Codices and two waves in December. Not predicting the fliers in June and getting February and May wrong. Not sure, why Darnok presents this nonsense so prominently, he should know by now that most of his birdies are wrong.

I hope to god there isn't premeasuring in the movement phase as that will mean I'll have to stop playing one of my friends. He already takes longer than normal for movement. If he now has to factor in "If i move 4 inches, I can fire and you won't be able to assault me next turn, but 5" would let you assault. However, over here..." and so on ad nausium.
