Well, at least Chaos Daemon look to be getting an update...

If both Tau and Dark Eldar do get an update, then that leaves Black Templars (with an old codex), Sisters of Battle (With a WD dex and a range that is almost entirely metal) and Eldar (again, old 'dex) left to be updated, right?

After these there is still the 4th edition Ork codex to update (I know everyone else has waited longer but the closest codex to the last Eldar release was Orks).

Birthday's in January, so I can save up all my b-day money and look forward to spending it a few weeks later in early Feb on my shiny new (and hopefully no longer game-breaking), Daemons!

I haven't been able to put them on a Fantasy table for 4 years without being automatically accused of being a TFG, WAAC's loser who's ruining the hobby.
I don't blame my fellow non-Daemon Fantasy counterparts for this attitude though. 7th ed was an absolute travesty and I don't think there really was to play a 'tame' or 'friendly' Daemon army. It was really just that over-powered and busted to the nines.

However, it's getting damn fustrating that all of a sudden, after an entire edition of being the worst army in 40k, all of a sudden my 9 Flamers + 5 Screamers are so broken I'm a horrible person and I deserve to be ruthlessly curbstomed by tailored GK's every game...

40k players do seem to be so much whinier and more prickly about everything.

It wasn't 7th, it was the Daemons list. No, there wasn't a "tame" daemons list, sadly. You just showed up and won, it was pretty terrible. Sure, VC and DE were also quite strong in that edition, but you could run VC lists that were fun for all and not OTT and DE was actually quite versatile without the need to run double hydras (I never did, the closest I came to cheese was a footbound Dirtlord in a Blackguard retinue, versatility is why I loved the list so much)

I too hope you get a chance to play with a well balanced army that you enjoy playing with as much as your opponants enjoy playing against it.

6th edition lands on June 23rd!

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

Lol I forgot about one of my own armies Yes, orks, I just hope FlashGitz become useful when they update... IF they update it this edition...

I hope they really do release a Harpy kit for Tyranids, the Voidraven Bomber I'm less enthusiastic about. It's a more expensive Razorwing that you buy the missiles for. Other than the one flyer wave(if/when it does happen) looks like I don't have to worry too much about spending money on GW stuff for awhile. Unless Eldar are really awesome that is...

Kinda missing the point here.
The Razorwing is a TAC fighter - it's alright against armour and infantry, (Missiles, TL Splinter Rifle, Lances), being able to be kitted out to be better against infantry. (Dissies, Splinter Cannon). Once kitted out appropriately it's between 155 and 195pts.
The Voidraven is a dedicated armour hunter, it's harder with bigger guns and is specifically gear for destroying vehicles. Kitted out it costs... 155-195pts!

It's like comparing a Raider and Venom, they both fit different roles.

Personally, I'm looking forward to the kit, running 2 Razorwings and a Voidraven, or 3 Voidravens will be good fun. (want 3 and 3.)

If High Elves got updated archers and spearmen, it'd be enough for me to take a crack at starting them. Right now I can't stomach the thought of having to use those models....

Kinda suprised if they don't squeeze a Vanilla Marine update in too.

I am getting sick of them drip feeding the releases "to maximize their sales" when 2/3rds of that stuff i am not interested in so they won't be maximizing from me.

What i want:

2/3 mini releases a month (Spread the love GW!!!).

Terrian that isn't Imperial only (hey my armies are mostly imperial but even they get bored of "defending" Imperial worlds all the time!).

Faster book updates (with clearer rule defintions - i think they should hire an Engineer - we are sticklers for details!).

But what I will get is a long wait for anything I actually want.

Nice...

I'd be exited about some sort of Eldar flyer, but I'd rather just have some sort of way to get the rules for a Nightwing Interceptor outside of buying an expensive Forgeworld book to use just one entry (and I don't mean illegal DL, legitimate PDF releases like the Nightspinner got would be awesome) so I can just use the DE Razorwing as one.

Works perfectly as a model, for half the price.

I think I read over faeit212 that GW didn't want to sell too many new Codices in a single year because of the sure-to-come pressure stakeholder would put on the company sales, or something like this.

It would turn in a more frequent release schedule every year, don't know if it's a good thing or not.

Still, I sometimes tell my friends I can avoid priority target tests because of my special wargear :-P

So, if it's may for Tau, I can't wait to get them!!

I do hope they give them at least a weapon option overhaul. Having all blast weapons, and relying on stinger salvoes and vector strikes to take down aircraft, is weak. Tyranids need a non-HQ way to reliably kill aircraft. Giving them twin linked Impaler Cannons would be great.

This has come up multiple times in this thread, but seriously? Sisters are not realistically getting an update until the end of 2014, at the earliest, and more likely 2015-2016.

I think that might be too generous.

I want them to be updated as much as the next guy... I just don't think it is likely.

Yes, and that's all the more reason to complain. If you don't like the complaints, either stop reading them, or bug GW to update Sisters.

Yeah, because complaining in this release thread is really going to bring about change.

It isn't that I 'dislike' reading them. It is that I find them silly and out of touch with reality. GW has always left significant periods between sob updates. imagining that they wouldn't this time is just wishful thinking.

Ok this seems like maybe some people have there lines crossed a little. By no means am I saying I am an expert but since I have fallent into the rumor mongering world I have formed my own little network of rumor mongers and sources and well the info I have is simaler except for the march release from what I have herad in march april it will not be high elves it will be wood elves. Aparently they were supposed to be released a while ago but portions of the army book werent up to snuff sooo the revamped it a bit. I have also heard that many of the models are done. Your choice to believe me or not I know I dont say much but I am a firm believer being carefull with what you say and have your facts streight before you say it. On another note I really cant wait for Lizardmen to come out I have allready put some money aside for them and really cant wait to see what they have in there new rule book....havent seen much around on them yet.

Honestly Sisters just need new kits. I'd even be happy if we didn't get upgraded until 8th edition so long as we had plastic infantry.

I would love it and I think 8th edition might be a bit further off than we could expect.

Sisters of Battle got a book a year ago.
Yes, it was a White Dwarf book that while its distribution hasn't been handled that well, is at least reasonably competitive, but they're not going to get another one that soon.

WD codexes don't really count, imho, as new people can't play unless they manage to find 2 issues of WD that are out of print...

Under that idea, Sisters have only had two codexes ever and one of them was Codex: Witch Hunters. Sisters have a long history of WD codexes.

Ovion only posted 3, the WD and their 2 normal codices, and as I started playing in 2009, I'm not really sue of anything before that, lol
Do the sisters really have a long history of WD codices?

and, yes, I realised I kept using the wrong plral of 'codex'

Codex: SOB - August 1997
3rd Edition Black Book Army List - 1998
Sisters of Battle WD Army List (Collected in Chapter Approved 2001) - July 2001
Codex: Witch Hunters - April 2004
Codex: Sisters of Battle (WD) - August / Sept 2011

So, so it took 7 years to get a 'real' SOB codex between 2nd and 3rd/4th. Then 7 years to get our WD dex. Good news, new SOB codex in 2018!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
So yes, they have had just as many WD codexes as real codexes (2 of each). Everyone got a black book army list when 3rd edition came out.
