Ha ha, they're all done except for some flocking. I've got a fair few bases to do. They're a bit rough and ready as I got hem in a trade and couldn't be bothered to strip them. Pics soon.

Cheers, you're more than welcome to have a go at shooting them down, everyone else seems to do pretty well at it.

This! If any new players to 40k ask about Tyrainds, this is the kind of army I would show them. Archetypal man! Lovin the scenery too! It's like giant tentacles from the sky! Like the end of Hellboy.

"Within microseconds, the post-hypnotic implants in the subconscious portions of his brain were already running the pre-deployment checks, and the insides of his eyeballs lit up with telemetry data, weapon readiness status, fuel levels and a million other nuggets of information that would allow him to command this beautiful, wonderful Titan. 'How do you feel?' asked the the adept and Jonah laughed. 'It's good to be the king,' he said."

That'd be ace for some of the bigger games, or even as a small piece of themed terrain, next to which we place an objective. First thing that popped into my head is: Use the, now stranded, pilot as 'The Relic'. He's found some interesting sample/node/baby queen alien that seems to contain the secret to the Hivemind or somesuch. The humans want to study it closer, the Nids want it back. It'd be more evocative than 'Battle for the Poker Chip' anyway.
I'd probably want that guy from the Macragge boxed set as the pilot if anyone has one spare?

sweet army, makes me want to get back to my bugs. I probably have one of those guys to spare.

It's a great place to be one, decent biomass but never feels too crowded and close to the countryside

Do it! Looks like there's plenty of time until some new stuff now so get some more bits done and be ready to bandwagon it up with everyone else when the time comes!
I found one of those guys now but thanks loads for the offer.

Lol.
Yeah, i'll admit that it's a bit of a struggle.
Until recently they have been kept in a cabinet but i've lent that to someone at the moment so they're currently in filing boxes with sheets of bubble wrap for the plastics, and a mix of cases for the metals/resins and the big ones now live on a shelf.
I don't often travel with all of it so it's not too bad to 'decant' up to 2k into a nicer case or two.
One day i'll get cases for all of it. Maybe.

So yeah, I've spent a bit of time smashing this one out.
It doesn't look quite as fat and bumblebeeish in the flesh as the GW photos make it look.
Anyway, I hope you like it and if you need any more pics or info about the kit then let me know.
Cheers.

Edit: Also if a mod could tell me where the best place to write a review of the kit with some closeups of the components and it's magnetisability and stuff like that then please let me know.
Cheers.

Ha ha, it's worth staying up late for. I'll have it finished on my desk first thing on Saturday please!
Looking at magnets it'd be simple enough to magnetise for both kits and for the wings and stand to come off for transport.
I'll hope to go into detail tomorrow with a quick kit review type thing.
rollawaythestone wrote:It's breasticles are a bit ridiculous.

Yup, I gently washed them rather than stippling so as not to enrage the beast.

I'm getting quite fast at painting nids these days. The whole thing was probably 5hrs with some messing around time.

Your colourscheme really sells that kit to me. Certainly a lot more than the GW paint scheme. Looks great.

Just thought I'd ask a quick question. How much larger are the wings on the Crone/Harpy than those in the Hive Tyrant kit? Do you think using the tyrant wings for a harpy/crone conversion would be out of the question?

I've sat through enough crap codexs with these guys, I know how to wait.
Painting takes a little practice, just stick with it, paint a variety of things, don't be precious or afraid to make mistakes and you'll improve.
I'm glad you like it.

Cheers, yeah, the GW schemes are all a bit too cartoony and this model has got a lot of skin. It looks pretty crazy and toyish on their red and blue colours scheme.
Here's a comparison pic, the Hive Tyrant's wings are a little smaller and with more of a curve in them. I'm not sure quite what conversion you are planning but they're not that dissimilar.
Follow my earlier link, above, to the wip build/review for some more info.
Here's a quick snap, let me know if you'd like any more.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

That comparison picture is great man, thanks!

I'm planning on combining (or at least trying to!) a Tyrannofex with a Tyrant. I don't know if it'll work yet as I think I'd need the kits infront of me. But basically fit the wings into the second set of sockets on the Tyrannofex, and use the legs from the tyrant for the back legs and the long scything talons for front claws/feet. Something for it to attack with and feasably land with too. I think combing the Tyrannofex and Crone kit might work better in terms of scale, perhaps just pic up Tyrant bits from bits sites. It's all just a jumble of thoughts atm.

No problem, all of the sockets seem pretty standard so you shouldn't have much trouble at all.
Sounds fun.

Thanks for the kind words.
Anyway, I was reading a good friends blog earlier and I'd noticed that he'd linked to this thread when someone commented on my colour scheme in a battrep.
Being the narcissist that I am I couldn't help but click and have a re read.
I'd noticed that I'd promised pics of plasmafexes and hadn't delivered.
Anyway here's some quick snaps.
I've also done some exocrines and a haruspex since so I'll chuck those up soon.
Cheers guys.
